    Yep! You got the idea. Eventually (Probably not for first release) all animals will live, die, breed within the context of the food chain. Then, we'll have some real minecraft evolution! :P

    If not,human have name from a player and the human will have the skin from that player.


    I am currently working on a custom texturing system create a near infinite variety of in game skins for villagers. This will also extend to animals as well.

    Again this is where I came up with...in 5 minutes


    Okapi, Buffalo, Zebra, Horses, Bears, Kangaroos, Beavers, Hippos have all been discussed but have not been started. All the ones you present seem like good ideas!


    In reality, Bears, Beavers, Ants, Flies, Vultures... Types of animals that serve key ecosystem roles will be implemented first.

    Keep the ideas coming though! Were going for variety in behavior as well aesthetics.

    Qeastion: how many animals have you planned?

    Qeastion 2: humans... does this mean the villagers will dispear?


    There is no limit on what we could add. However we want to represent every aspect of the ecosystem fairly.

    Villagers are replaced by humans. They are effectively a retextured player model, with different skill levels of "AI" based upon the diversity of the economy and technological level they are educated at.

    People have mentioned the platypus. You're the first fan to mention it, and now I'm convinced... We'll put it on our (more immediate) to do list!

    Our modeler is working on a giraffe right now ;) Our first focus for animals is to add them from the African savannas, and create a fully functioning ecosystem.


    As for 1.7.10 backport, that will probably not happen for quite awhile. However if someone joined the team with that as their goal, we would not stop them :) .

    We are making all animals from scratch, however a lot of them are based on old wildcraft models. All will be updated! Right now, we have salmon, cichlid, gazelle, lion, eagle, hummingbird and of course... human ;) We'll be updating the forum soon to include pictures and more content, just haven't had the time.

    Introduction


    EcoCraft is a mod about economies, ecologies, and how villagers and animals interact. Villagers will be able to do jobs, marry, have children, age, die, etc. The same rules will apply to the player. Economies in villages can be procedurally generated or built over time by the player/NPCs. Animals can be domesticated and evolve based upon their environment, and so can villager cultures!

    Villages (WIP)


    Villagers actively mine, farm and lumberjack for their own benefit! They can additionally be hired using a “Job Table”. Villagers have a sense of territory and a will to expand via property purchase, city expansion, and through conquest.

    Structures


    • Aqueducts have been added to compensate for source water blocks not being place-able with a normal bucket. They are constructed using sealed cobblestone, sealed stonebrick, or sealed brick, and slowly spread water across their surface.

    Items including sticks, flint, nuggets from copper to diamond shards and other items spawn laid across overworld able to picked up and used by the player.
