the only way to know for sure that nothing will burn is to not have any fire, or to not have anything flamable, i know if i have anything flamable and any fire or lava it burns no matter how far from the fire i put it :sad.gif: it usually because i like to run around with flint and steel and i accdentially start things on fire, well some times it to burn forests down, but i usually burn everything down,
i think it is 6 squares away is safe for sure,
I am thinking of making a large boiler out of steel blocks with fire inside and maybe a lava tube of some kind.
But it'll be right in the middle of a huge wood ship. Argh.
I used to be really confident with it. My last base had a fully enclosed glass lava globe, fully enclosed glass and stone fireplace, and deeply recessed fully surrounded by stone fireplace.
But when I booted it up recently after not playing for a while, a fire started and burnt a lot of stuff in my base. I think it might have been a weird location-glitch on the fire or something but I'm still paranoid.
Right now I'm working on a huge wooden project and I'd love to use fire in it but I'd punch a baby if it caught fire.
I am trying to design a convenient minecart track that will go around my large tower and allow me transportation from floor to floor. Sadly I am hitting some snags and looking for some advice/tips.
Currently I basically have seperate cart tracks, with one going from floor 1-2, one going from floor 2-3, etc. I don't know if this is the best way to do it. I'm also not sure about stopping them. I've tried a loop to reset at top and bottom as well as stopping blocks. Loops make it troublesome to get off in a neat and timely manner, but allow the cart to come back if I miss jumping into it and it zooms away. Blocks solve my stopping and getting out problem, but keep me from having the cart reset if I miss it. IE: If my floor 1-2 cart stops at floor 2, I am screwed if I'm down at floor 1...
Thanks. My only problem is carts zooming off at full speed away from me, I'd prefer a short slow period for me to jump in, unless someone can suggest something easier. I'm a bit of a minecart noob.

So yeah, any ideas would be nice.

Does animate the fire/lava textures included in packs that don't work, or does it just override them with animated vanilla fire/lava?
Also, if I use the new update with old Doku's, will I be screwing up my game? I want to play but vanilla makes me sad.
