If you put "Aa" or "BB" as your seed for world generation, they produce the exact same world. I'm guessing some of you knew that if you put a word into the seed generator, and do /seed, you get a number which produces the same world. But in this case I've identified two different WORDS as seeds that produce the same world.
I discovered this after I learned that Minecraft uses Java's String.hashCode() method for converting String seeds to integer seeds before executing their world generation algorithm with them. Because "Aa" and "BB" both return the same hash (2112), they generator's algorithm produces the same world for both. And by consequence, "2112" also produces the same world, because Minecraft uses integers as the seed value, without hashing them. So there are 3 seeds to produce this world (Aa, BB, 2112) since it has a collision, but 2 for most worlds (string value & and its hashCode).
Just thought I'd share this for those of you that didn't know.
PEX was much more robust, efficient, and all-encompassing from my experience. Here are some nice plugins that hook-in well or are compatible:
Modifyworld: Designed by PEX developers themselves for things like basic build control but also more technical mechanics like eating, sprinting, etc
Essentials & all the Essentials Plugins: Despite not using GroupManager, you'll find that nearly everything fits in well, especially if you get Vault
ChatEX: Based on the expired ChatManager plugin, it allows for chat controls, themes, ranks, prefixes, and everything.
Vault: Allows for "hooks" so other plugins can access things like Economy or Chat. Works well with ChatEX and Essentials Economy.
As for fleshing it out, I sometimes lay down only the bare bones in case someone can help out with this idea.
Btw my post earlier was a half-joke.
And I don't want to harp on you or anything, but I hope you learned now that people take this Suggestions forum very seriously and it's held to be a place for fleshed-out, fully-written suggestions. If you want to discuss your ideas with people, do it inDiscussion.
Hm this post should go in a server subforum, I believe.
To help you out though, I think it's a version compatibility thing. Back when I quit my server, CraftBukkit was being updated by Spigot and Essentials was forked by Spigot for the newer versions; things may have changed between now and then. So are you running 1.9 CB with the compatible 1.9 Essentials build? Make sure you have both Essentials and GroupManager, and the same build for both.
Ah yes the new "skeleton traps"; very rarely, they can spawn from lightning strikes, although I believe the way it works is by identifying, with a very a minuscule chance of this happening, a horse as a "skeleton trap", and if lightning hits it, it turns into 4 skeleton knights.
So if I got the book that OP did (Prot 3, Lure 3) would I be able to apply it to armor, with the Lure just being there but not doing anything? Cuz I wouldn't want to put Prot 3 on a fishing rod of course
Actually I think he's continued his "joke" by fooling us into thinking he's trying to be serious; just look at his last couple of comments, they make close to no sense at all. Example:
I wish I could start completely over, but editing the idea a third time might work. I really need to think before I post, and you need to ask me nicely because I'm trying to keep my cool.
Well played my friend...but I have figured you out.
Thanks. i didn't realize because like you said, transparency is represented by white, so I didn't see a difference between my skin and other template skins.
For some reason my skin file doesn't upload correctly to Minecraft.net; my skin appears pure white, even though I'm pretty sure my dimensions are correct. Can someone see if there's a problem? Thanks.
I'm pretty sure those sites are getting it from MinecraftMaps.com 1: because they don't have any terms of service and therefore nothing that doesn't say you can't steal the maps(even though I think it is illegal) and 2: because they have a lot of the same maps as what is on MinecraftMaps.com.
If that's true I think the site will be glad to assist you, since they are losing ad money to the clone websites stealing things off their site.
Hmm seems like a very poor situation. I don't pretend to know law, but I'm pretty sure your map cannot be used without authorization by default, but you should also have put explicit warnings on the places where you did post it. However, because 9minecraft & YourMinecraft falsely asserted that it was their property, there's no gray area and you have quite a strong case that they are stealing your work.
I would first contact the sites and demand them to take the map down, in a polite but firm tone. If they refuse or do not respond within five days, you may be able to issue them a DMCA takedown order;
I do not know the specifics of such action, but you would have to send them or their designated Copyright Notice agent a DMCA notice. The proper form and layout of a notice would generally require an attorney or legal advice site to assist you; however there are examples you can peruse (google "Example dmca notice") or databases of actual notices. Hopefully your problem does not reach this level; I do not think these Minecraft websites would want to face infringement allegations or lawsuits over one map.

Are there any maps that are based off of the original MC world generation, except with added structures, like custom built temples or villages, or other things?

I would suggest creating a new profile and/or trying a different version.

Why would it give me Lure 3 on a chestplate though?

That's unfortunate. Only hope is for the sites to respond and agree to your request.
