Or at least add a toggle button to "mirror". Mirroring would work the same as it did before the new skin system, where it'd draw on both at the same time. Turning it off, would make it work one at a time.

Yeah, great idea. I think that having the option to mirror would be a fantastic addition.

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but, when will MCSkin3D be fully updated and ready to make 1.8 skins? I am eager to begin doing so. Thanks!

Now that the new skinning system has been released, I look forward to it in 1.8. I understand that you /Paril/ have a lot of work to do in order to update MCSkin3D for 1.8, so I wish you the best of luck on that. I hope MCSkin3D is updated soon! ;)

Yeah. It's the same way a lot of people make normal skins. The top half of the template is the same as current skin. The bottom half of the template has the new 'hat' layers, and extra arm/leg.

Once I make the skin, how do I upload it to minecraft in order to use it? Do I have to download the snapshot or something?

The first post in this thing has a template..

So I just download the template and edit it to make my skin? Sorry, I am just inexperienced.

Try it out by making a skin and using the newest snapshot.. simple?

Well, I have a few skins, but I don't know how to use the new layers

Now that the skinning has been updated, how can I "try it out"? I would really like to explore this skin update. Thanks!

Wonderful! Now I can have a cactus. :)

Very orangey light does not look good in minecraft. You run into all sorts of trouble when you have intersections between torch light and natural light - odd red shadows, for starters. So I toned it down.

Ahh, see I hadn't thought of that. Though, having an orange hue to the torchlight would look amazing in dungeons and the like-- but your right.

You may be able to try getting some advice from Monsterfish_, the creator of Conquest. I know that he has just recently done some nice work to his lightmap. He may be able to help you if you seek him out. He knows more about it than I do; I am inexperienced, I just know what looks good and what doesn't. ;)

And some more fooling around with lighting. I hope I've managed to capture the appropriate level of moodiness.

Nice work on the lightmap, it is certainly better than the defualt one. However, I you should make the lightmap darker and make the torchlight slightly for orange. Just a thought.

You read my mind. I was just thinking about making a nice torchlight lightmap. :P
Now to figure out how to do it....

I am sure there are a few tutorials out there somewhere; you will just have to find one because I don't know how to make them myself. I know of a couple really amazing ones though, if you'd like to see them.

I would suggest doing some work with the lightmap for your resource pack. I see that not many people consider doing this (although there are those who do), but a good lightmap makes a massive difference and it cannot be ignored. I haven't really looked at your previous texture packs so I don't know if you make lightmaps or not, but if you don't then you should certainly start.

Anyway, I like the textures so far but I know how much more work there is to be done. Good luck to you Steelfeathers.

posted a message on Magic Launcher | Help Needed
    Hello everyone,

As you would have guessed, I need some help with using magic launcher. I would like to run minecraft using the Camera Studios Mod, Better Grass and Leaves Mod, and Optifine for minecraft 1.6.4. Magic launcher seemed to be the easiest way of doing this so I installed the latest version of magic launcher (1.2.5) from the forums along with the two other mods (for 1.6.4 of course). I placed Optifine, Better Grass and Leaves, and Camera Studio inside a new configuration profile with the enviornment being 1.6.4-Forge. I assumed that Forge would work as the mod loader for the mods that I am wanting to use, however, when I try to start minecraft something does not work properly and the launcher closes and that is the end of that. Nothing else happens.

Here is a screenshot of what my configuration profile looks like so that you have a better understanding of my situation:

I am not sure what else I should do about this so I hope that you have an answer for me. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your feedback!

Is that my grass texture? Anyway, looks wonderful! I really like where this is heading. The spruce log has a bit of a horizontal tiling error though. (Where the top of the texture meets the bottom, its a bit harsh) Lovely work.

Yes Maffhew, that is you grass texture. I placed my log textures into your resource pack to see the comparison. I also wanted to view my resource pack in something other than default, which burns my eyes.

Also, I agree with you about the tiling error, I will try and fix that. It is very challenging to find the right shapes.

So I have not done much work recently due to other priorities, but here is an image of what I have done since I have spoken with you all last,

*Spruce log on the left, oak log on the right.

I managed to add some highlights on the oak log texture to create some more depth, which seems to be a struggle for me to portray. Anyway, this update is really to show off my new spruce log texture; I don't really know what to think of it. I sort of like it, and then again I do not. With that said, I would like some feedback, as always.

    Thanks everyone!
