John_Titor posted a message on New default texturesPosted in: DiscussionQuote from Ivya
That is literally the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The textures not being altered would mean that it looks exactly the same but lags your computer more. It doesn't make anything look different. It just gives more pixels of the same color per original pixel
I think he was trying to say as in faithful just upsize the textures and not change the style or look. -

impmallet posted a message on Looking for a permanent server.Hello Drtro.Posted in: Server Recruitment
I'm posting to invite you to my server as I believe it meets your requirements. We are a small SMP server, with limited mods for administration. I specifically take time each week to clear out old unused buildings to make room for new players so that it does not become a disorganized mess. We have players of all ages, but we are staffed by adults. I'd very much like you to come and take a look around to see if we have what you are looking for.

So is it possible to edit ExtraBiomesXL? All the worlds I create seem to be nothing but snow biomes with a few grass islands here and there.
Yes, but large snow biomes taking up most of the map is a vanilla problem that you can't fix except with a new seed. There are ocean biome areas, there are snow biome areas, and there are everything-else biome areas. EBXL just adds to the everything-else biome areas. If you want to adjust anything with EBXL, go to .minecraft/config/extrabiomes and open the file in there with Notepad or Wordpad.
Under the "Biome" section, you can find these lines and set them to false, for example,
B:icewasteland.enablegeneration=false
B:glacier.enablegeneration=false
and that will give you a bit less snowy stuff. -

Ameobea10 posted a message on Looking for a permanent server.Hello! I'm always happy when I see people posting things like this, because it makes me feel that the idea behind my server isn't dead. I'm the owner of Super TerrainCraft (stc.craftx.biz) and I believe that my server would be a great fit for you. I'm going to respond to each of your requirements one at a time, just to show you that we really do have what you need. And, if you don't believe me, check it out for yourself! The whole server is very open and easy to get around.Posted in: Server Recruitment
I wrote this whole thing just for you - this is no copy-and-paste deal. I CARE about each and every one of our members - from the moment the community welcomes you in, you will be a part of the STC family.
1. The entire server's theme is non-pvp, Towny-based survival MineCraft. Our main addition is the custom terrain generation, which has little effect on actual gameplay mechanics aside from making the world look cooler and more interesting. We have PvP enabled in arena areas that players can build, and plans to enable PvP on the PvE world exist.
2. Out server isn't very old - only about 4 months - and because of this overcrowding isn't really that much of a problem. Sure, the spawnpoints are rather overpopulated, but that's to be expected. The important thing is that we have a 78,500,000 square block map for exploration, and any unclaimed areas can be claimed as your own. The beginning land protection for a single play is 25 chunks, enough for even the biggest of projects. If you need more, that can be arranged as well.
3. I do my absolute best to make the server as balanced, fair, and enjoyable as possible for everyone who plays it. That means NO overpowered donator kits, NO creative mode, even for staff, and NO unfair advantages to some players over others. We do have a voting system which gives a maximum $600 in-game cash a day. Voting is what drives our server - without it, it wouldn't exist. However, I made sure to balance it and set the shop prices high enough to not make voting the best way to get diamonds. $600 is enough for 4 diamonds, about 6 stacks of nether quartz, or a stack of gold bars. You could earn any of those things easily in 30-60 minutes of in-game play time, especially as most people spend theirs on diamonds or just stash it. Needless to say, balance and fairness are two of the most important things to me.
4. One of the best aspects of the server is the community. Being a small town-based server, people form close-knit bonds with their town members and other server members who play with them. We max out at 15 people online at once on a good day, meaning that your chat isn't spammed to a point where you can't even read command output. Griefing and stealing are strictly prohibited, along with hacking or xray of any kind.
5. I know each and every one of my staff members personally and have known them for a long time. Some have had long experience with MineCraft and administrating servers. I myself am very active on the server and am almost always available in the IRC channel if my assistance is needed. Besides that, we almost always have at least one staff member online to assist players or keep the server in order.
So I guess that's pretty much what makes STC special. Our players stick around longer than any others I know of because you build more than a town on this server - you build friends and relationships. We have many active towns recruiting new members as well as the ability to create a new town for free.
I sincerely hope you at least hop on and give the server a shot. I'd love to get to know you better, and I'd be honored if you were to become part of the STC family.
If you're interested, our website is at http://stcserver.net/ and the dynamic map can be found at http://tinyurl.com/stcdynmap
Thanks for reading, and hope to see you soon!

Experience: I have owned many of my own Private server's for dozen's of games, such as World of Warcraft, Gunz Online, Runescape, Maple Story, Ragnarok Online, Habbo Hotel, Minecraft, etc. I just work a lot now since I'm older, I just like to build and create stuff rather then manage server's. So if you want a builder with lots of admin experience. I'm your guy. I build a lot of giant stuff. I would love to do a spawn city for you.

Krell posted a message on How do you get "Admin" experience? The only thing you really can do is the very thing you just said you don't want to do... Make a server on your own machine.Posted in: Server Recruitment
Make one, tinker with it, get a few buddies to mess around on it, maybe even have them attempt to bust it just so you can learn how to fix any problems people might cause. That's the only good advice I can give you. - To post a comment, please login.

Really. Not to look bummish, but you could probably find $27 in the parking lot of a mall within a few minutes. Here anyways. How I pay for internet.

It's just a place for me to be creative now. Especially once I started installing mods. Like without Industrial Craft, I would probably quit the game before going back to smelting in the furnace. It just makes things more complex. And I like that. It's a new form of creativity while still being in Survival. I probably couldn't survive without Nether Ores as well. Though you may think that's cheesy since Nether Diamond is x2 though along with IC, it's not just slapping ores and everything in the furnace. You have to crush, extract, compress, etc. While at the same time powering all of these machines with engines and generators.
I just like complex things like that. Why not quarry a volcano and rebuild the lost city of Pompeii? Make the city functional to your means and move on to other projects. Construct oil rigs in the ocean, link your projects together with a rail system using RailCraft and RedPower. Build factories for generating and storing energy. Install Thaumcraft and get into magic. Install Twilight Forrest to have another dimension to explore.
Vanilla MC is fun up until you actually learn the game. The it just sort of stalls. That's why MinecraftForum was invented amiright?

I also joined a new-ish server over a year ago and helped the Owner get the spawn built and all and setup some shops and all. Never did he say thanks and actually banned me once it was all done and blocked me on Skype. It wasn't like I was asking for money or anything. He just randomly banned me.
The other thing which is pretty normal these days are new servers giving out OP status to any member just to get members to join. That's the wrong way to advertise and those servers won't last even a month. Also the "vote for diamonds" servers are pretty messed up. You basically are forced to vote just to keep up with all the prizes other players get. Pretty shameful way of getting players as well.

It's run on an Intel i5-3570K with 23Mbps down, 3Mbps up.
I just want a mature player to go through the building stage with me. Then eventually we could either go public with hosting it on my PC or find a paid hoster. I'm looking for a great builder but also somebody who's familiar with WorldEdit, WorldGaurd, Towny, Factions, etc..
Sorry for the bad formatting, its 6AM and I have been up all night playing video games and on my fourth Monster..

Ahh I gotcha
I thought Essentials was like Permissions, groups, anti cheat, etc everything all in one.. I should read them before installing. Youre pretty much right. Essentials is basically a buttload of extra commands and PEX allows you to create groups and determine who can use which commands and which commands they cant use.. something like that..

I'd like to see the use of wheels, motors, etc.
