If any one is having problems with texture's or MCPatcher and can't get the minimap to work, check the log in MCPatcher and see if it's trying to install into the 1.6.1 files instead of the1.6.2 files. Look in the "versions" folder (in the minecraft folder--.minecraft for PC) and take out any folder that says 1.6.1 and rerun MCPatcher and it should work again.

I found how to fix my textures (Misa's) being odd again after updating to the 1.6.2 MCPatcher today, for some reason MCpatcher still tries to install into the 1.6.1 files in the "versions" folder in the "minecraft" folder, (.minecraft for PC).
Just remove the "1.6.1 MCPatcher" folder and the other 1.6.1 folder and rerun MCPatcher and it should be fine. I also use Rei's minimap and I couldn't get it to run until I noticed the log window on MCPatcher was installing into the 1.6.1 folder instead of the 1.6.2 folder. Everything is fine now.

If anyone is having problems with the texture's, etc, and you have Misa's updated Texture pack and 1.6.2 MCPatcher then you need to remove the old 1.6.1 folders in the "versions" folder.
Mac, application support, minecraft, (.minecraft- PC), versions.
Get rid of any folder that says 1.6.1 in the versions folder and rerun MCPatcher and it should work then. Just happened to see the log for MCPatcher and it said it was installing into the 1.6.1 version files.
I also use Rei's mini map and it wasn't showing up. Everything works now.

posted a message on Where do I put my mods.
I don't think i"ve ever seen a mod ask me to put anything into any other jar file then the minecraft.jar file. Don't make it harder then it is, just read the instructions for the mod a couple of times to familiarize yourself with it.

You can just put the texture pack into the texturepacks folder now, (in the .minecraft folder) you don't need an installer anymore. You still need MCPatcher (HD patcher) to install the HD textures to use the texture pack if it's over 32x32 though.

If you use MCPatcher you can have it install the mod for you at the same time it installs the HD textures.
If you want to do it manually you will have to make a mods folder manually (in the .minecraft folder), if it's not there already, when you install the .class files into the minecraft.jar.

There has got to be hundreds of YouTube videos on the same subject, just do a search for the mod you're using. Have Fun... :Notch:

    Quote from NER0IDE

Anybody know if it is possible to set up a server just by plugging two computers together without using an internet connection?
Me and my brother would really want to set up a server for both of us to play together and getting internet in both of our computerx is something not possible in the place we live in.

Yes you can. If your running Windows it's called an "Ad-Hoc" computer-computer connection. If a Mac then it will detect it automatically. Make sure the server is on the faster computer.

You actually don't need the internet just a Router will work also.
Does your house now have ANYONE on the internet? If so then if you have a Router already, then all you need is the IP address of the computer who's hosting the server. If your router use's 192.168.1.1 and your computer is 192.168.1.2 then all your brother needs is to do is to type that number,192.168.1.2, in the multiplayer window in Minecraft and your good to go. You just hook the ethernet cables to the router from both computers and the router will do the rest.

P.S... or wireless if it's a wireless router also....

Make sure they have your OUTSIDE IP address with :25565 at the end. Similar to __ 72.222.72.72:25565 __
    NOT-192.168.1.xxx!

    Quote from noobofepicness

I have made a server that I now call GlitchCraft,I want to know why I have been having so many glitches that some even don't make sense. Here is a list of some of the glitches: dirt turns into sand when placed, chest getting stuck, dissapearing blocks, unknown teleporting (i do not have a teleporting mod, i just randomly go to a new place), half trees, bed wakes you up outside, freezing in place, blocks that keep regenerating, huge holes in the middle of the ground that go no where in shapes of rectangles, crashing server, floating mobs, enderman out during the middle of the day, villages under the desserts, people unable to join, ect. Do any of you know if this can be fixed, or why this is happening?

Start Minecraft and at the Login screen select "Option" and "Force Update" and it will reinstall Minecraft without deleting any saves and re-download the server again. Have you tried making another World?

posted a message on A Firewall Or ISP Is Blocking Minecraft's Port
    Quote from MinMax123

So I've been trying to get my server running without hamachi, but I've run into a problem. First of all, when I try running my server, I get these error messages:
[WARNING] **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[WARNING] The exception was: java.net.BindException: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind
[WARNING] Perhaps a server is already running on that port?

I already tried to allow my firewall to let through 25565, following step by step through these instructions:
So you go to Control Panel. In control panel, you'll see System and Security. Under that heading should be Check Firewall Status. Click that which will bring you to the Windows Firewall window.

In here, click on Advanced Settings. Now in here right click on Inbound Rules on the left hand side, and select New Rule.

For Rule Type, select Port and click next.
Leave the selection as TCP and for Specific local ports, type in 25565, click Next.
Leave the option as Allow the connection
For profile, select all options and click Next.
Call it something appropriate and click Finish.

That should have done the trick, but i still got the message I got before, and, when i went to check 25565 on canyouseeme.org (with the server running) it said this:
a firewall or ISP is blocking certain ports.

I really don't know what else to try. Also, here are the contents of my server properties file, if that matters:
    #Minecraft server properties
    #Mon Feb 13 21:50:10 PST 2012
    allow-nether=true
    level-name=world
    enable-query=false
    allow-flight=true
    server-port=25565
    level-type=DEFAULT
    enable-rcon=false
    level-seed=
    server-ip=24.86.227.119
    spawn-npcs=false
    white-list=false
    spawn-animals=true
    online-mode=false
    pvp=true
    difficulty=0
    gamemode=1
    max-players=10
    spawn-monsters=false
    generate-structures=false
    view-distance=10
    motd=Your mom likes to build

Can someone please help me? I've been trying to fix this for a while now, and I've had no luck. Anything would be great. Thanks in advance!

Also try killing "Java" in the "Task Manager" as it won't quit sometimes when it crash's modifying the game.(as been mentioned, rebooting does the same)

Yep apparently I can only see the server in local when I'm on the same network. Thanks for helping.

^Good info for people setting up servers lol^

I think i'm missing something here?

YOU can only access the server hosted on YOUR computer with the inside Lan IP of your computer. The router gives the computer the IP address, not the game, so the server AND you have the same IP address. In order to access your server from your computer you have to use your IP address. Anyone else IN your house for example would have to enter YOUR address to access your server. Anyone OUTSIDE your house would have to use the outside IP address and then the router will direct it to your Internal IP address for your computer. The only reason to put an outside ip address is to connect to a server if it was OUTSIDE of your house on another computer.

I think that's what you were trying to do?

Hi, I've just set up a minecraft server on my VISTA machine. All seems to be functioning, can access it from other computers but when I try to access it from the computer that hosts the server (using localhost) a message comes back saying connection took too long and timed out. Any suggestions ?

Make sure your using the right IP address. Type in the IP number of the computer that has the server on it. Just the number, "localhost" no longer works I believe. Double check the Multiplayer screen and see if it's the right number. It could change at any time if you have the router set up as DHCP.

    Quote from OneRumor

Sorry to be a bother, but can anyone help me troubleshoot something?

I'm attempting to install the minimap on my girl's Macbook, running OSX 10.5.8.

We updated her Java to Java 10.5.8 Update 10.

I did the research to figure out how Mac mods work, I even got a program that can open up the .jar, and I also tried out MCpatcher for installing the mod.

While I can patch it, and even get the mod in there, I run into an odd issue:

Minecraft will load all the way to the Mojang logo screen and then it seems to just sit there. It won't go past until the mod is removed.

After checking out a "how to install" video for that very mod, for minecraft 1.1, I'm baffled why this one's freezes, and theirs worked just fine, despite following step by step.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately it seems we lost another developer for 10.5 as I've tried a dozen ways and it just won't work. I have a couple older model G-4's running 10.5 and the only thing I can think of is the videos are using the old versions of MiniMap that did have support back then. The error I get is it's not the right Java version (Java mismatch). I can get the MCPatcher to install and works great with any HD texture packs so It's got to be Rei's mod that no longer supports Mac 10.5.8 with Java v5, which is the latest and only version available from Apple. It looks like we need v6 which only 10.6 has. It sucks too as my grand kids keep getting lost (well, me too) and then get frustrated and want to quit, so I just made a server for them to play on my newer Mac and then just TP (teleport) them back when they do. The funny thing is I have one of the G-4's as our always on family Minecraft server(v1.1) and works great.
    In the Applications/Utility's/Java Preferences mine says:j2SE 5.0----1.5.0_30b3
If the MacBook is upgradable to 10.6 then if you install it on an external disk you can still boot into 10.5 for the older games and such, or the other way around. Snow Leopard 10.6 works fine (other then spending another $30) for the older games as long as they aren't a PPC only game, Rosetta still works. (Similar to 10.5)

posted a message on I can't find the Minecraft files in a mac
Check out Youtube for some videos on the same.

".minecraft" is the Windows version of "minecraft" in the Application folder. You have to look in the USER Library folder not the HD/Libray. So, open your Hard Drive/go to the "Users" folder/pick "your name" folder (the one with the house icon)/Library/Application Support/minecraft and there you are.

Leave the Texture packs you downloaded as .zip when you put them in the "texturepacks" folder. Use MCPatcher if you are going to use anything 32x32 or higher as it will patch Minecraft to use the higher HD textures. You only have to do it once per Minecraft version unless you want it to load the texture packs, mods, etc, for you.
When you select the Texture Pack in the game, it will seem like you didn't click on the texture pack you selected, but it does register, give it at least a half a minute to change, depending on how high-Def the pack is, before you get worried. The higher density ones take a while to load. You only have to do it once.

"Open Texture Pack Folder" option in the game is a hit or miss if it works. Usually not. It seems it hasn't been perfected yet.

posted a message on Server Connection Issues
I have no idea how to use an outside server, Hamanchi, etc, but hope this helps,,
Try the Minecraft Server WIKI: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server

    Short answer,

You port forward your INternal or "Local" IP address, 192.168.1.xxx.
Is the Speedstream the DSL modem? Is it also a router? If it is then it may be conflicting with the Cisco. You only need ONE router. If it isn't a dual modem/router then only Port Forward on the Cisco router.
192.168.254.x is the access IP # for the Speedstream modem. 192.168.1.1 is the access # for the Cisco.
Leave the "server-IP=____" blank in the server properties, it will look for the correct IP itself.

    Wind-Bag answer,

Not sure about pic #1. Set everything up with the actual IP address numbers first and not the "IP namer".

    Pic# 2,
type the 192.168.1.xxx into the Port Forward area in the router first, and save, then try the outside IP (184.xx.xx.xx) in the "Open Port Finder" box.

    Pic #3,
the address in the web browser box is the "router access" address of the "local" network, you have to be on the same network to access it. The other address in the "PPPoA connection", 184.xx.xx.xx, is your OUTside address your IP company has given you.

If you have DHCP enabled it can change your address, the last 3 numbers, if you both turn your computers off and the other computer turns on first. eg, if your computer is 192.168.1.100 and the other is 192.168.1.101 then if you both turn your computers off and the other one turns on first, it will get the 192.168.100 address. It's a first come first served, as it were. You can set them to a static number at any time.

    Pic #5,
the bottom shot, do you have the right "world" entered in the "level-name=___"?
Try leaving the "server-ip=____" blank, it will look at any computers attached that way then, if not then type in the actual numbers and see how that goes.

Pic #6, you don't have the Port Forward address "Enabled" box clicked? Don't forget to save every time you change something.

Your Router routes ALL outside network traffic from the outside world via your modem to your local network.(computers, etc.) And the opposite.
184.xx.xx.xx is your OUTSIDE IP address, the one you give friends, from a different house, to play on YOUR server on your computer. Then in the MC multiplayer window you add your local address, 192.168.1.xxx to access it.
(your outside address can change if the router/modem resets, etc, unless your IP service gave you a static one). Another reason to make sure both IP address's are correct every time you play.

192.xx.xx.xx is your INside or "local" IP address, it's given out by your router, no one outside your house can access those numbers, THAT is the one you need to port forward. (unless you don't have a password for your wireless, you use WPA2 right?) The computer you have the server on is the IP address you want to Port Forward.
