It loads my world now but when I do /fill, it still says I can only build to a limit of 256. I only gave it a space of 1560 because that is the maximum amount my laptop can handle. Is it because of that? The world is never ending down. I mined for an entire minute and no bedrock. Awesome... I even used /tp WorldsHappiest ~ ~-500 ~ and still no bedrock. Too awesome.. So can you fix the /fill bug so I can still use /fill over a limit of 256? I don't know if it is just me or everyone but the search GUI in creative seems a bit messed up. It has no GUI texture and only the items show up. I can't tell if it is the creative menu or my hotbar.

I'd be willing to bet, that that is something Cuchaz is right on top of! ;)

I would suggest reporting the bug on GitHub, however, for the bug to be known of as well as part of an organized list! :)

Can you make it compatible with Forge? I don't know how to install non-Forge mods anymore. I forgot. Can you tell me?

Any plans to make this at least compatible with Forge?

Sorry guys, not really wanting to sound like a jerk about it, but Cuchaz specifically mentioned on his website that his mod is not forge-compatible, nor does he intend it to be. [Here: http://www.cuchazinteractive.com/m3l/ ] The reason he uses his custom Mod Loader, in short--very short, is that major mods for forge changing large aspects of Minecraft are generally incompatible with other mods doing the same thing due to ineffective APIs. (Correct me if I am wrong, Cuchaz, my modding skills are much below yours, so I may have misinterpreted what you were explaining 030 ) The Magic Mojo M3L launcher allows for a really great way of enabling you to modify APIs for certain mods easily allowing for coremod compatibility. So, for a mod such as Tall Worlds, changing the whole system that you play Minecraft on, coremod compatibility is incredibly important if any further support of this mod is going to exist. ;)

Oh! By the way, from my experience so far, the M3L launcher is awesome, and works well anyway (especially for being in an early beta!) So go ahead and check it out!

It was probably asked hundreds of times, but is it possible to make nether generate as a part of the main world?

I guess two great minds think alike! I was thinking of just that! Something that could also be done with all this capability of cubic chunks is combining all of the dimensions! (Because eventually, digging forever downward in regular stone will lose the excitement of variation ;P (which is another idea I would really like to see in the future--3D biomes and really intricate cave systems, having certain formations only form at certain depths)) But off of that, after some mechanics were changed, of course, to make it all work and make sense, where the nether could be found digging downward after enough time (but again, something changed slightly so you would still have to make a portal) and waaay above, the end (hence 'sky biome' now finally making sense--and you may, for example, have to do something to 'summon' (spawn) the enderdragon; additionally, the end would only spawn in certain regions, similarly to abandoned mineshafts... or maybe, only around the end portals themselves!)

A point I would like to mention about the end part, sorry for bringing it back, but please know that I am not trying to argue it, only stating my position about it... is that, I am a supporter of shadows only being rendered if they are in the render distance (or near the render distance) similar to the way the game works on the x and z axis. The reason for that is so that you would not see the shadows of the islands being rendered far above, not only would this ruin the mechanic of: the exciting adventure of finding the end portal, but it would also make really ugly dark spots on the beautiful--alternately generated--world if you were to build there. XD

Anyway, this is an idea I've been really excited about, way before I had heard of cubic chunks at all! Yet I never got around to saying it!

Edit: Also, apologies for the poor sentence structure, I had a lot to say all at once there! XD

Ugh... why do internet things always break on me. I think I fixed it. For now.
And thanks! It took me a while to make that screenshot. =)

Hey Cuchaz! Apologies for what is probably going to be a self-evident question after I ask it, but I notice nearly all of the screenshots for the mod have terrain with a lot of depth. I was wondering if you are using an alternate generator for the mod that can really take advantage of its capabilities, or something like that--or if I just haven't looked around enough... XD Thanks! ;)

(I'm saving space, his post is right above this...)

Wow, again, another amazing post by you... I had no idea what to say on the first one, but after this I felt obligated to commend you for it! xD

Something I would like to ask for your clarification on is the water and lava falling... I loved the idea of lava solidifying, but how would it 'stop?' I guess a better way to word that question would first be to state that it would seem illogical if there were just a rough 'end' to the water similarly to how it stops at the void, so if we were to prevent (sorry, going back to lava now) that by having it stop by forming, say, obsidian where it would be intended to terminate, how would we deal with it then extending out, creating a 'brand new' instance of the lava (which I hope I can safely assume we are all familiar with xD ) that would then start flowing again for... 'y' blocks down again and repeating the process. The way I am trying to have you think of that is just like with water... if you let it flow on a flat surface to the end of its range, and then the height of the ground is lowered by 1 on the water's last block, then it falls down and begins to flow out again as if it were another source block of its own. That is the issue I am afraid with (changing it once again) with the lava... it would stop, but then, not only would it reproduce, but start flowing all over again, creating an infinite downward stream like we are trying to prevent.

...correct me if I completely misinterpreted what you had stated above, but that is what I was getting the idea of from what you mentioned, and I thought I should address it! :P

Do you think 2.0 might be a mining update? (copper, tin, etc)

Haha, yaknow man... who knows! If it were to be that, I'd be willing to bet they would have a purpose for those materials, and potentially add in a lot of things that can be done further...

Personally, as I may have stated before (cause i dunno if i did ;P ) I am really hoping they make an: 'optimizations update'! xD

If they were actually going to add cubic chunks for that, they would then be able to combine what both of us brought up with 3-Dimensional biome support! That would mean incredibly diverse cave systems and provide a massively more immersive cave-exploring experience! ...geez, can you imagine all the possibilities!? ;D

Any word on 1.9? I hope Mojang implements something like this.

Yeah, 1.9 is the PvP update... I'm afraid to say that they do not intend to add cubic chunks... probably ever :/

I am actually interested in coding and stuff, but mainly do javascript, not quite as complicated as java :P

I would have thought the shading would be calculated based on more than just the column above the block, but thinking about it, blurring the result would actually be better.

yeah! i agree with cuchaz! that is a great idea!

i am also interested in java programming too, but i seem to be stuck struggling with system.out ;P

Edit: sorry, i guess this wasnt really my conversation to drop in on, i felt subconsciously obligated when someone brought back the sunlight issue and responded an intelligent way XD ...yeah again, though, great thinking!

I would not take those numbers as a proof yet. On one hand, it's still in development, so there should be plenty of space for improvement and optimization, but on another one current worlds in the mod are much more simple than vanilla ones, simpler terrain generation (exactly one block of dirt and one grass on top of the stone), no trees anywhere, less caves (I may be wrong, but for me it looked like they start to spawn only in the negative Y ore somewhere around zero) and I don't think I saw a mob spawn naturally, so no pathing calculations.

In other words, it can still go both ways for Tall Worlds, but in principal it really should help.

Yeah, man! You are totally right about that too. The whole performance spike I was noting was of course, under the just about the best conditions, so I was hoping that it didn't sound like I was saying that is the case for everyone, either--I guess it sorta did though ;P. Anyway, as you mentioned, I was just providing the example it had increased my performance, showing the potential to do so, and that it has potential to make up for fixing mobs and landscape decoration in that, it still has lots of room to be optimized as well! ;D

Anyway, I am still very excited in just the concept of this mod and the overall improvement to minecraft it will provide. Anyone who disses it--to me atleast--better have a darn good reason! XD

Sadly they aren't going to move a finger. See my signature? Colored lights are actually working, but guess what? They just don't care.

Yeah, if there is one thing that bugs me about Minecraft, it is Mojang itself. Instead of listening to community suggestions and what the fanbase wants to see in the game they are a fan of, they only seem to add what 'they' think is necessary at the time. And not at all to dis it, but for me, even though this new PvP update is cool, I think Minecraft is really due for a performance/mechanics improvement. Not to say Mojang never listens to the community, for example, More Wood Items, but they really could do it more than rarely--especially when it is something that is SO practical to performance (or atleast will be,) take, for example my situation: usually, I'll average around 200 fps (which is already great of course,) but then paired with cubic chunks (development version) it hit 1200 fps at some times! Anyway, I totally see your pain, man!

[Btw, I know 1200 fps has NO practicality, but I used it just as a reference for the performance increase provided by cubic chunks]

I usually average around 120 - 200 FPS, so still a lot, but nowhere near 1,266 FPS.

Crazy right!? This is probably the biggest reason I support the cubic chunks mod! It almost entirely reduces the graphical load and just makes the game seem more stable and expandable. Hopefully it will also allow for some really incredible terrain generation as well!

    "1,266 FPS...

    What's your normal FPS? "

I tend to use VSync with my monitor, limiting it at 144 fps. However, with no limit (it must be in fullscreen though, idk why, some hardware incompatibility or something) I tend to average around 200 fps. ;)

Sorry for bad quoting! I seriously messed up! XD

Hey guys! I decided that I should help clear up misconception that this will slow down your game, and provide some proof anyone can use (if they want to)--it will not (although make sure to allocate more memory than the default, especially at higher render distances.) Anyway, the story goes that I was loading into a world (amplified btw) and as the chunks were loading, I managed to catch a screenshot of this framerate...

*imagine as if picture were here*

Additionally, if you still want to argue it will slow down your world, it's just my opinion, but I personally wouldn't mind at the framerate it is still at when i took the screenshot. A couple other things to note: I am using fancy graphics, I have no other mods installed, I am using the newest release of the Tall Worlds mod with its corresponding launcher, I am even running windows right now (this would have been even faster in Linux.) Thanks guys! ;3

OMG i can't thank you enough for making this a real mod! I have been waiting and following cubic chunks for SO long now in suspense for someone to make a version past 1.0 ...i, i am out of words to describe my excitement xD

EDIT: okay so as you may see in my 'signature' i am a starting youtube guy and i am wondering if i could potentially have permissions to review/feature this mod on my channel when it is released? ;) that would be so awesome if so; id love to help get the word out and spread support if you are up to it! thanks!

posted a message on Looking for login message mod or plugin
i realize that i am really late to respond to this, but maybe if you still check this every so often i could point you in the right direction :) i cant think of a plugin that does specifically that, but i know that the essentials plugin/plugins (you know, kind of a plugin pack if you know what i mean; like multiverse as an example for that matter) but anyway i know that essentials allows you to customize a login motd for your players' clients and disable other features if you choose not to use them. hope this helps, although late :D

if you would like to check it out a link is here: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/essentials/
