posted a message on minecraft needs to add new food
Maybe the advantage of preparing food would be giving a larger saturation boost? Like adding sandwiches that restore 4 point of hunger but have a larger saturation level.

Also I think thirst would be an amazing idea, but that's a topic for another thread I believe.

As for the food OP suggested, I'm going to have to agree that a lot of it seems redundant and useless in comparison to things like bread, watermelon, and animals. Why would I eat pickles when I could just slaughter some cows and get a food that would most likely be better that is much easier to obtain? I feel like you're on the right track (I live in a huge ass opulent castle that's so big I have to count the side lengths in chunks, but the best food I can get is a stupid slab of meat cooked in the same furnace I use to smelt ores? What the hell?), but there should be some sort of appeal to these or else they're just a waste of item ids.

EDIT: to the above, thirst should go down faster than hunger, or else it wouldn't make any sense.

Overall 1.3 is faster for me (from 20-30 fps to 30-40 in 1.3.1), so I'm happy about that! Not to mention that I'm in love with large biomes, just mountains upon mountains... it's great! Although, I've encountered one rubber band and mob fighting is different, but since I play multiplayer so much it's not that big a deal for me.

I feel like we should reserve judgement until 1.3 comes out. Of course, we shouldn't avoid the matter entirely, that's not what I meant. My point is that we shouldn't dismiss this idea as being terrible until we see what Mojang does with it. I mean thing about it, bugs notwithstanding, wouldn't this be an amazing feature; to invite your friends into your single player world whenever you want? Given the right options, that'd be awesome!

The big deal with this is , of course, the bugs, but since SMP is technically going to be the only gamemode, this forces Mojang to fix them. Whether they fix all (or the majority) of the bugs though, remains to be seen. Personally, I'm tentatively optimistic.

He DID copy hogofwar's work. Most of the items are the exact same with the same uses, and most of the textures are taken directly from the original peaceful pack.

Well first off the textures are different, so I don't know what you're talking about in that aspect. Unless you mean the colour, in which case...

Secondly, It's his code, so it's his property. How can you not comprehend that? He coded his mod without using any of hogofwar's, and no matter how similar the use is, he did not copy any actual work whatsoever. Plus, I don't recall there being blowguns in the peaceful pack

If a man builds one house from scratch , and someone else builds a similar (but not quite the same) house from scratch, how can you say that the second builder is stealing from the first builder? On top of that, people will appreciate the better looking house either way, so in the end what does it matter?

Finally, he already said that this was originally intended to be a peaceful pack remake, but then became its own mod. Do you see the version number? 0.2? Yea, that means he isn't even remotely close to the completion of the mod. How can you say it's a copy when the finished product isn't even happening in the forseeable future? Seems a little unfair, don't you think?

Hey, I like this mod! Don't pay attention to the morons thinking you copied hogofwar's work. What none of them clearly understand is that no matter how similar the idea, you coded it yourself, so it is yours. Period.

However, the ideas are quite similar to the peaceful pack, so you should definitely be branching off in your own direction. Really make this mod your own, you know? The blowgun is a good start, even if that idea isn't quite original either. What I suggest, is to constantly keep in mind your goal; to add things that should be in vanilla, and with that I wanna talk about the swords you're planning on.

Do you really think it's a good idea? I mean for special effects, we have enchanting, and the swords we have are fine in terms of balance. I feel, considering all the existing content, that the swords are a bit redundant. Have you considered adding the effects you were going for to enchanting? Maybe a new item tier, not just swords? Or even a rework of enchanting? I mean I know you started off like it was a peaceful mod, but adding swords must mean you are thinking of the other difficulties too.

My point is that they don't quite feel like they belong in vanilla, which may not have been your goal in the first place anyway (and considering how subjective what belongs and what doesn't is...). Well whatever, it's your mod, after all, and the final decision is ultimately yours, but I just wanted to let you know my opinion on the supposed future content.

Edit: tl;dr: Why magic swords when we already have magic and swords?

I would say, judging by the number of similar reports after this update, that it is happening to the majority.

Compared to the number of people who play this game? I'm afraid it might just be a vocal minority.
Of course, if it truly is a problem for most people (I've been bug-free since 1.2.4, so yay me I guess), they gotta get on that....

Yea, just glass panes would be awesome. The trade off would be more resources (sand) used for added protection.

It'd go very well with the zombies smashing wooden doors thing!

    Quote from mg127

well what should i say ...
the small boats are ok, but the huge ships are ugly
minecraft has more to provide than only the blocky look
i mean when you build a house, does it look just like a larger dirt block or does it look like a real house if you look at it from far away

    some "vanilla" ships

the 2 behind are a bit incomplete

    an older ship:

and the last ship, it was made with superslopes and fancypack

All they have to do is round the bottom portions out a bit (you know what I mean), and it'd look great tbh.

posted a message on Biome Specific Towns
Hmm, I like it! I also believe that keeping it simple is the way to go; too complex and it'll feel a little overwhelming. The player needs to do something besides just hijacking intricate castles without building anything. Also, might I suggest that swamp villages be made out of wood, with no cobble? I don't know, sounds like something people living in a swamp would do, not that I'd know :tongue.gif:

^Exactly. So your point is moot.

And since that's your only point, your argument is moot.

Therefore, you have a case of nostalgia-itus. Go play some tetris. It should help.

...I don't get it. Him liking the jungle biome is getting nostalgic?

posted a message on Jeb fixed armor! Hazaaa!
    Quote from Sting_Auer

There was a video someone posted that showed how zombies would path around a wall. It's possible that it hasn't been implemented yet. I apologize if I am incorrect.

If you are getting mobbed (pardon the pun) by zombies, they do become a threat. Even will full iron armor, at least for me - and I consider myself to be a decent fighter, at least in previous version - they are difficult in the new update due to their increased range and the fact that armor has been nerfed.

This post made me happy. I always wished that mobs in this game were more than just slowly walking sandbags that could do nothing to you unless they came in hordes. With that AI guy working on it, maybe fighting 2 or 3 zombies at a time won't be such a snooze fest! :biggrin.gif:

But yea, I appreciate the armour fix, I got really annoyed one day when I got snuck up on by a creeper, which blew up point-blank, and I landed in some lava. The only significant damage I took was from fire -.- (which wasn't even an issue since there was a pool of water nearby).
