posted a message on How to create a Minecraft Server?

Sorry I sound like such of a noob, but external is not on my computer right?

In the way adidushi is using the term "external" I believe he is talking about using a hosting company. If you wanted to get the hardware yourself and run a dedicated server and pay for the good connection speed(through ISP) then that could also be an option for a large server. But if you are not looking to do that, then renting a server from a hosting company is likely better than running it on your pc for the reasons that were mentioned before (for adequate hardware and internet connection).

I applied yet wasnt accepted for some reason ive build 5 server spawns for random servers and done more than most anyone in any server ive ever joined into, Pretty sad that the me and my friend who would Help the server cant get in but kids that say Oh im not a griefer i wont blow up anything or steal anything, yet they do and it ends up a messed up server bc of them, get in. I'm 20 yrs old, ive never griefed a server in my whole time of playing this game which is about 2 years now. I dont appreciate that people who whitelist server pick the immature ppl over the ppl that actually Could help the server kinda dumb in my opinion.

It's ashame that when someone doesn't get what he or she desires, instead of being logical, respectful, good spririted and addressing an issue reasonable in a personal message, one attempts to explain his or her heightened abilities to play Minecraft, prejudice towards the younger folk, lack of knowledge of the way our server operates, and in the proccess displays perfectly the definition of a word he or she uses to bash others. Maturity: the ability to resist instantaneous gratification. I don't know how old any of the players on this server are unless they themselves decided to tell me their age, and it has nothing to do with the application selection proccess. However, in this case, it appears that I made the proper decision. I wish for you to find a nice satisfying server for you and your friend to play on.

posted a message on What do you do when someone asks for a /OP?
    Quote from OctopusPlaya

Hello everyone, I've been getting a lot of new players on my Minecraft server and it's great! A lot of times I will get a new player, who is looking for staff or for someone to /OP them. So my question is, what do I do with these people? Should I just tell them to get the Nether out of my server, or should I tell them to earn their rank?
When players ask these questions it makes things very awkward. I like new players but, not ones that come and think they're becoming admin right when they join.

    Thanks.

    Server I.P.: MC.JimsServer.Net

This will happen on any and every server. There is a simple and effective way to solve the issue. Add a rule to the rule list that roughly states, "Do not ask, beg, nor hint at getting a rank promotion nor how to recieve a promotion. Any such actions will imediately remove said player's ability to recieve a rank promotion." Then when someones asks you respond with "Please read the rules". If they ask again you reply with "/kick player Not following the rules", if they ask a third time you reply with "/ban player Not following the rules".

It would be good at add a line that says aomething like, "All promotions are based on respect, experience, trust, and a players dedication to the server. Spending time playing and interacting with players on the server will impact the optaining of a rank promotion."

    Quote from Gastroid

I wasn't buying the 'for the sake of consistency' argument before, but now that Coal is going to be the absolute only ore without a decorative block, I think it's time for it to get one. If all of its brothers are going to get decorative blocks, especially a crumbly dust and a new guy to the table, why not Coal?

Would be neat if a coal block was actually a smoke block. No more webs floating from the tops of chimneys.

    Quote from ZombieSeaweed

As of the new snapshot yesterday, there are only two ores that do not have their own block. Coal and Nether Quart. For the sake of consistency, those two items need their own block. I'm sure they could find a use for both of them. What do you think?

    Quote from Lordofdragonss

Actualy more than that I would love to finaly see a Hay blocks.

What about a rose block? They would look like rose bushes. When's the last time you saw a single rose, on a single stem, growing by itself? The answer is never, because they don't. >_<

posted a message on Sugarcane in a pot
    Quote from spx4l1en

I think that the Mojang team should think about
making sugarcane in a pot, i know that it needs
water but it will look really nice, i don't know if
there is a mod that you can put sugarcane in a pot,
or a texture pack that there is a cactus maybe that
looks like sugarcane, so i made this :
I hope the Mojang team will see this and decide if
it is a good idea or not, and i'm also sure that I
am NOT the only one that thought of this idea.

    Quote from RebD

I suppot this. To me the question shouldn't be "why should we be able to do this" but rather "why shouldn't we be able to do this?" and I can't think of one reason why not. We already have the pots, we can already put other plants in them, so if players want to, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to put sugar cane in a pot.

Balance isn't an issue because it's merely an aesthetic option and the more aesthetic options the player has, the better imo.

I think being able to plant sugar cane is pots would be a nice addition. Who's to say why it isn't possible already.

    Quote from CrossingTheLine

    It's pretty simple.
The law of sugar cane to be grow in minecraft is by a water source on dirt or sand.

Therefore, if it is a pot, it can't grow.

    No support.

While I see what you are trying to get at. Your logic is not fully developed, or it is perhaps flawed.
If you place a clay pit down and look in the top you see what looks to be dirt. This means naturally, we would assume that all things that are placable on a dirt(or grass) block should also be able to be placed in the clay pot. One might also conclude that since it is dirt in the pot that no other items which require different subtrate, for example cacti and sugar cane would be able to be planted in the pot. However, this is where things get tricky, because cacti for whatever reason are ineed pottable. This would mean that the pot contains the neccesary subtrate or block type depending on what item you place in it. This could lead one to belive that since the pot "changes" it's substrate to allow for the planting of cacti, that it would also accomodate sugar cane. However, this is not the case. With this, one now may ask, well is the pot only able to accomodate the items which require one block type, and since sugar cane require either dirt(grass) or sand along with water that it is not able to be platned in a pot. And what about sugar cane that is planted near water. If the water is then filled in with dirt, sand, etc, the sugar cane will remain planted until the sugar cane itself is destroyed or sugar cane directly near it is destroyed. This is much like it would be if it were in the pot, and it is still feasable without any intrusive accomodation, since there is already dirt in the pot. This makes it more of a question as who why the heck are cacti able to be planted?

    Additional Comments and Questions:
-Cacti are not plantable on dirt, therefore they should not be able to be planted in clay pots.
-Sugar Cane require dirt and water to be planted, but can live solely with dirt. Thus, they should not be able to be planted in clay pots, but they are still more reasonable to be planted in the pots than cacti.
-Being that cacti are pottable and Sugar Cane is not is absurd.
