Any chance for a 10.4 version? Some of us are stuck on Tiger :sad.gif:

That is a 6 year old operating system. I do not plan to support it at any point in time. MCMap live makes use of many features added to the operating system since. I cannot imagine a Mac running 10.4 will play Minecraft reasonably anyway.

i need some help downloading this.i do not know what to click to open this it keeps telling me to choose an application don't know what application to choose i don't know if i'm even on the right track i would really like some help i am not a genius with this stuff. :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, seriously cut it out with the creepers and exclamation points. They are not helping.

Secondly, I have no idea what you are talking about. The program comes in a zip file. Extract the zip file and run the program. It's that easy. If your computer is asking you what program to use to open a zip file, something is broken in Mac OS X beyond what I can help with. It should just know to use Archive Utility.

You need at least Mac OS X v 10.5 (Leopard) to run MCMap Live.

Wow, the piracy white knights actually shut the **** up in this thread.

Will wonders ever cease? Good luck with your modding, OP.

Yep, they did shut the **** up. Didn't help either, even though the solution is simple. So there's that.

Just MCEdit is fine. It can be tough to use though, so I suggest just going to that link and grabbing a flatmap there.

I cannot help you with MCEdit, so be sure to read its documentation and post in its thread if you need more help.

Okay so, I need to convert my .dat map into a world folder? The only files I have are the .dat and the .mclevel.

I'm just trying to make a blank map that's all grass.

It might help if you elaborated on what is going on here. Are we talking about an alpha server? Because the map format you're talking about is old. You'll have to load it up in an editor like MCEdit and convert it to the alpha level format, which is a folder containing a .dat file and lots of folders with two character names (which contain more folders, which contain thousands of 8kb files, it's kind of crazy and inefficient on all fronts).

But that's what you need to do. Or just go grab a flat map in the proper format already. There are lots here:

    What? No!

Just take the world folder and put it alongside the server files. Open up the server's properties file and change the line:

    level-name=world

so that instead of "world" it has the name of the map's folder. I don't know if there is any trouble with spaces, but just to be safe, you can change the custom world folder's name so that there are no spaces in it, then fill in the line in server.properties to reflect that.

I'm glad to see you are pirating Mac OS X just like you pirated Minecraft.

    Are you well-versed in Java?

You need to have a very solid knowledge of java programming before we even get in to the other steps.

Thanks, this is a great app. One request, though: could you please make it a bit less chatty? Have an option to launch it in verbose mode if you need that for debugging, but the tens of thousands of lines it's dumped into my log file from a few minutes of consecutive use seems a tad excessive.

This behavior seems to depend on OS version. Sometimes the NSTask dumps tons of stuff to the system log, sometimes it doesn't. (The whole thing is kind of a mess of undocumented system version-specific behavior) I'll make it explicitly pipe to /dev/null next version if I can. If it'll listen.

Also, I suggest remapping the default keyboard shortcuts. ⌘N should never be used for anything other than new document/window, and ⌘F should be mapped to “Block Finder” rather than “Flush Cache” (for which ⌘R might be appropriate). In fact, “Find Blocks” might be a better name for that menu item, as “block” can be a verb as well as a noun and “Finder” is a Mac application. When I first saw the menu item I thought it was intended to prevent Finder from doing something.

I'll take these under consideration. There will be a UI overhaul to reorganize all the menus at some point.

I would guess that it is some kind of debug printout and you would get much more help posting in that thread.

The only problem is that it would make it look like you could walk up hills even though you couldn't. You'd still have to jump up, unless this also applied the collision code of stairs.

There are also issues with corners, but that's an implementation detail.

Actually, mcmap has been moved since I made the request but the rest seem to still be in the wrong place. When the mapping and modding forum split and got the subforum "Map generators and editors", the other mapping programs, Cartograph, c10t, Techtonicus, etc moved there but these did not. That subforum would be the proper location.

    Done.

    http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/User: ... ng/Mappers

I've started to edit a copy of the mappers page. Anyone who can contribute (add/remove features on the various mappers), I'd appreciate it. Once I'm satisfied, I'll merge it with the main page.
