Whitelisted servers with application processes and older admins tend to have a much better community--and fewer problems--than others. While it may seem like an unnecessary inconvenience, you'll likely feel differently once you get into a good one and make friends.
Scroll wheel 90 percent of the time. I've tried training my fingers to use the hotkeys, but the only one I hit reliably is '1' for my sword. And even then I revert back to scrolling if I go more than a few days without playing.
I think he's doing alright. Were I in his place I might have done this or that feature differently, or implemented One Thing before Another Thing, but I can't find cause to complain about the job he's doing.
The Adventure Update, Beta 1.8. I'm the only person I know who likes the hunger system, but I still think it's vastly superior to the Unstackable, Food-Themed, Med Kit system we had before it.
This is Part 1 of what is either a parody of wilderness survival shows, found-footage horror movies, and Minecraft "Let's Plays," or it's proof that two bored, possibly-drunken friends shouldn't be left unsupervised.
Also? I probably shouldn't be allowed to use iMovie anymore.
I think there's still room for people dropping the occasional Minecraft video on their channels. I don't think there's much room left for another Minecraft-dedicated channel or straight LP series. That said...
The famous Youtubers today started thinking only about having fun. The people who try to start now only think about subscribers. That is why most fail. Those people thinking only of view counts and ratings are bound to fail.
Getting "high quality" video on YouTube requires: a crazy amount of trial and error; is depending on your source, recording software, and editing software; codecs; and your computing power. There's just no simple answer to the question "How do I make these videos look good?"
Sorry that's not much help, but the truth is you'll have to do some research, watch some YouTube videos on Frapsing Minecraft, and spend a few hours experimenting.
As of April of 2014, Windows XP will no longer get any security updates from Microsoft. In other words, "It's dead, Jim." You'll need a new machine--or at least a new OS--before then, otherwise Bad Things.
And it's likely that any modern computer you buy will be able to run Minecraft without issue.
I'd be concerned about someone who had difficulty separating real things and imaginary ones.
Pretty much this.
Granted, I don't usually kill the passive mobs unless I need their drops or they pose a hazard--like a sheep dancing around me while I hang over the edge of a ravine--but that's just resource management.
I'd say raise the sword's base damage, make a sword block absorb more damage, and make them slower. I believe this would encourage a more opportunistic approach. At any rate it would make a sword fight more interesting.
I think we're long past the Vanilla Minecraft Let's Play Winter. I still record my vanilla game, but for my own amusement. The videos I make for other games get far more views and, to be completely honest, are a lot more fun for me. That said, I know YouTubers who don't make Minecraft videos. The number one question they get asked?

Nothing like running inside to get away from a thunderstorm and finding an Enderman warming himself by the furnace.

Subject line said "...sent your minecraft folder via filesharing or skype." I think that's where Angry_Dad got that bit from.
To the OP: As Nancy Reagan once advised, "Just Say No."
