posted a message on Framerate issues with shaders.
I was wondering if there's any way to get a better frame rate than I currently have with the setup that I've got.

I'm playing on 1.7.5, have Optifine Ultra and am using the SEUS Ultra Motion Blur shader pack, v10.0. I also play in 1080p.

    My system:

    3.1GHz Intel i5-4440.

    MSi Radeon R9 280x 3GB OC Edition

    8 GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM

I generally get 45-50 fps and sometimes hit 60fps when not doing too much, but I was wondering if I could bump that up to 60fps on a more consistent basis?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

posted a message on How to increase FPS while using Shaders?
I'm looking to increase my FPS and continue using Shaders, any advice?

    My system:

    Windows 8.1

    Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3.1GHz

    8GB RAM @ 1600MHz

MSi Radeo R9 280x OC Edition

I'm playing on 1.7.5 because that's the version my friend's server is running on. I'm using Optifine as well.

I get on average 40fps, but would like to get something around 60+. Would this be possible with my setup?

    Any advice would be welcome!

    Thanks!

posted a message on Question about the resource pack folder location
I just put together my new computer which has a SSD with my OS, and an HDD which I want all my other stuff on.

Can I change the location of the resource pack folder so that it's not on my C-drive? I would rather not have stuff on it just because it's only 120GB as opposed to the 1TB on my other drive.

Any help would be appreciated :)

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the links.

I guess what I'm really looking for are building designs that are aesthetically pleasing, look fairly modern/suburban and also allow for village population.

posted a message on Village Designs?
I'm playing on a server with some friends and I wanted to build a village from scratch. I've already cured two zombie villagers, and have them contained in my home so I'm looking for village designs.

I don't want to just have some monstrous "apartment complex" near our spawn area. I want it to be aesthetically pleasing, I just don't know exactly what I'm looking for just yet.

I don't really need an actual layout, but just building designs that might fit a "city" or a suburban area. If you know of any aesthetically pleasing, but also efficient designs to help populate a village, that would be amazing.

Thanks for anything you're able to provide!

posted a message on Nether Portal Linking
I'm wondering if there's any way to force a portal in the Nether to link to a specific portal in the Overworld.

    Here's my situation:

My friend and I have built our respective homes quite near each other. This resulted in our Nether Portals being near each other as well, and as such they link to the same portal in the Nether. He happened to build his portal first, so the link is between the Nether and the Overworld is via his portal.

It's annoying because whenever I leave the Nether, I end up at his home and this is what I'm trying to fix.

Is there any way to fix this?

I don't know if it's possible, but could we have our portals (in the Overworld) link to separate portals (in the Nether) but have them be in the same area?

    Any help would be appreciated.

posted a message on How to enable shaders?
So, I've been looking around and trying to figure out a way to enable shaders.

I'm running MC 1.6.2 on a Mac that is running 10.8.4.

I've tried in the past but things never worked out and I gave up, but am really interested in getting it to finally work, but none of the links/tutorials I've come across have really helped me, so I figured this would be as good a place as any to try and find the help I needed.

If you need any further information, please let me know.

    Thanks!

posted a message on How do you spice up your gameplay?
So, my friends and I have been playing on a server recently, and a few weekends ago we set out to beat the Dragon in a single night. We succeeded, and went on to just build up our houses and do various things.

We ended up not really playing with each other anymore, which got boring.

I suggested we do the following:

We abandon our current location and set out to find a new place to settle. When we do this we can take a full inventory of items, plus a mule/donkey with a chest.

    Some rules regarding packing:
    1. You CANNOT bring any diamonds or diamond tools.
    2. You're allowed to bring one set of armor, and one sword. This can be made of any material, but you only get one set to bring with you. (ie: you only get the set that you're wearing)
    3. You get one 64 stack of iron.
    4. You can bring two sets of ready-made iron tools (pickaxe, hatchet, shovel) or one set of iron tools that have enchantments. (This can be debated)

Some rules regarding settling and living conditions:
    1. No using beds (bring one to set spawn point, but then no sleeping at night after that.
    2. No strip-mines. Gather ores and minerals primarily by use of cave exploration. It's fine to have a centralized location for getting down into the caves, but no systematic way for mining resources.

I couldn't think of anything else to limit to make things difficult, but also fun (one of the friends is still new to the game, so we don't want to make it too hard for him).

I also suggested we do the following so that there is a reason to relocate other than just to spice things up.

Once we find our new place and set up game, we make another portal to the Nether so we can kill Wither Skeletons and gather materials for creating the Wither. Once we have the necessary materials, we pack up AGAIN and go back home, this time traveling through the Nether to the portal that should dump us out at our initial home.

Any suggestions for how else to make the game a little more interesting, or what you do with your friends to make playing the game a little more fun?

On the server I've been playing on, I've found most of my diamonds from level 9-12. I stripmine and explore, but most of my diamonds have come from stripmining.

posted a message on I think minecraft is boring. (Please don't kill me...)
    I know what you mean.

I've played a few survival solo worlds, and after you get things settled, it can get pretty boring. Once you get your cows/chickens/wheat/potatoes growing you're set on food. If you build a mineshaft to condense all your mining endeavors, then you're basically set on the resources front. Build a relatively safe home that has a bed that's not near the walls so you're never near mobs, so you can always fast forward to daytime.

You basically just set yourself up for success.

If you're looking for a change of pace, think of all the things you normally do in-game and just try not to do them.

For me, I tend to build underground homes, with all my stuff underground and easily accessible (farms and such). I build a mineshaft so it's easy to get resources and stay alive since you can just close the tunnels off and keep everything well lit.

On my newest world (started it 2 days ago) I decided I'm not going to tear up the environment like I normally do, and will just build around it, or incorporate it into my home. I built a generic wood home to get myself started, and am living very carefully. My farms are all above ground, and instead of setting up optimal farms I did minimal digging and set everything up near the edges of water so I just use the environment. I placed my home near the entrance of a cave so that I had easy access to minerals, but not from within the comfort of my own home (essentially). It's a lot more fun so far. I've found a lot of coal and iron, but almost no diamonds because I'm not constantly mining at 11-16 like I normally do because of mineshafts. I'm all over the place because of actual cave exploration.

Try something like this and maybe you'll have fun again!

posted a message on Tips for incorporating terrain into buildings.
    Hi all,

I'm playing on a server with some friends and have a pretty well established base of operations (the group, and myself personally).

I've got essentially everything I'd ever need so I was thinking about setting out on my own and essentially living off the land. I want to build a mountain/cliffside retreat with bay view windows, but don't want to destroy the mountain/cliffside. I also want it to look relatively home-y and rustic, and don't know how to go about getting these kinds of looks.

I generally build things underground, and because of that just clear things out as I need them.

Any tips for preserving as much of the naturally generated terrain as possible (and to some extent having it still visible) while still building impressive things, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Quote from MazeCraft

    Made a better one
All you have to do is to divide the redstone line into 3 with repeaters facing the same direction (the bottom picture) and power them with levers. Te red line powers the middle part.

This is exactly what I was looking for, and was incredibly easy to build. Thank you SO much for the help, I appreciate it very much!

posted a message on Hidden Enchanting Room Help
Hi, I'm working on making a hidden enchanting room and wanted to know if what I've thought up is possible.

I've watched guides that show how you'd make one that you can control the level of enchantments that you'd receive. Here's a video about what I'm talking about:

I like the concept, but am not a huge fan of having to use all three levers to get a full room. Would it be possible to do the wiring so that the third switch would instead trigger all the pistons, the second would trigger 10 of them and the first would work as it does in the video?

I'm not sure if you can do something like that. If what I've detailed is possible, how would I go about doing that, and is there a video that could help me because I'm not that great with redstone stuff.

    Thanks!
