Must have the Gopher menace from Caddy Shack!
They can be quite the griefer mob though so I'd put some kind of cap on their spawn rate, like something ultraconservative as default. But would be fun to be able to up the spawn rate in a text config file. >

Jun 1, 2012Brilliant. It seems inevitable that Jeb would do this. Im suprised Mojang didn't already think of it by now. The best part is that it would give those who love vanilla minecraft textures a way to improve the over all look without straying from the default style. Also for creative artists and smp builders and adventure map designers all sorts of possibilities open up!Posted in: Suggestions
Jun 1, 2012Nice concept. An MMORPG sandbox game called Haven and Hearth has in my opinion the all around best survival game system or structure of any mmo I've ever played. And how it deals with death and respawning seems to me to be a natural fit with this Legends Live On concept. Haven and Hearth is a hard core game. When you die it is permanant. You can create a new character on the same account but it will spawn in a random location on a vastly huge world map. The unique element is an option you get when creating a new character just after an old one dies.Posted in: Suggestions
~ Quoted from Haven Wiki, Death pageAfter your character dies, it's dead for good; it cannot be revived. It will turn into a Skeleton. However, you can make a new character as the deceased one's descendant.
At your new character creation spawn room [before you enter your random map location] when you choose your name and gender you will see a runestone monument to your dead character. Clicking on it brings up the option to make your new character a descendant of the fallen one [You can choose not to and the monument will stay there for the next character you create. There can be multiple monuments to past fallen characters]. You will still not be able to use the previous name you used and you don't inherit any items. But you do inherit a percentage of the stats and Learning Points your previous character accumulated in his lifetime.
The previous character also left a corpse out there on the world map wherever he was slain which can be looted by other players including yourself if you find it first [unlikely]. The corpse decays into a skeleton which becomes a permanent object in the game. So it is one way of leaving a permanent marker of where you died however it can be moved by other players. They just usually dont bother since it is a burden that literally slows you down while carrying it.
The character sheet includes a Beliefs section with a bunch of sliders that start out neutral but can be moved over time [one notch per 24 hours of real time] to either extreme right or left. Each slider represents a duality such as Aggressive vs Peaceful or Barbarian vs Civilized and these will have a positive or negative effect on various stats and skills. The last slider is Tradition vs Change. It has a direct effect on how much your descendant will inherit when you die.
The more traditional you are the more he/she inherits. This has to do with the ancestral worship and magic system. Ancester worship is a traditional belief so the more one believes in change the less one believes in the power of ancestors. The less one believes in his ancestors the less he believes in his or herselves' ability to pass on his spirit or heritable traits to his descendants. The advantage of moving slider towards Change is the boost to learning ability which is crucial to early character development. Most ppl take their chances and crank it all the way to max change and leave it there until they've accumulated insane ammounts of learning points and raised all stats to a respectable level [when they have a lot to lose].
Just thought that would be interesting to anyone interested in how other's have implemented a Legends Live On type concept. Personally I'd love to see every game mechanic of Haven and Hearth implemented in Minecraft SMP in a new HnH game mode but I won't hold my breath.
Edit: The same way Minecraft was inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Haven and Hearth was inspired by a survival based roguelike game called Unreal World which could also be an excellent source of ideas for this.
Apr 9, 2011I could really really use this cui Lahwran, and i dont care what class it uses. worldedit is all i ever use anyway. Begging you on hands and knees, tears streaming down face, please for the love of all that is minecrafty, release your update!Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Quote from lahwran »worldedit cui is up to date but unreleased, I just can't seem to find a clean solution to this issue. at the moment I have to modify a class I shouldn't need to. This makes in unreleasable as far as I'm concerned.
More tomorrow, sleep time.
Mar 19, 2011Unzip the testmod into its own folder of any name you choose and put that folder into the mods folder of the mycraft folder you unzipped [usually to desktop, my documents, c:\program files, or whereever you usually keep stuff your going to keep accessing alot].Posted in: Minecraft Tools
You can also do the same with any standard class based mod. That is, any mod that is simply a zipped collection of custom class files. You just unzip it to its own folder. Move that folder to mods in mycraft. You can disable all the mods in mods folder with one click from within the mycraft mods menu.
Mar 16, 2011A few people in IRC had trouble understanding me when I directed them to click OPTIONS/FORCE UPDATE from the minecraft launcher screen. I told them it was the screen that shows the Minecraft News page. They weren't seeing this screen. It was then I found out some people hadn't downloaded the new minecraft.exe. So if you havent yet please do so now. http://www.minecraft.net/download.jspPosted in: Minecraft Tools
Feb 24, 2011@nbowman - you dont put non-mycraft mods in the mycraft mods folder. Follow the specific mods instructions either on the forum thread for it or in its own readme.Posted in: Minecraft Tools
Since the Mojang update many ppl have had problems. First being not even being able to connect to minecraft.net which is necessary to redownload the game if you need a clean copy and also necessary if you want to play on any server. The MyCraft devs showed me a workaround using MyCraft's proxy feature to connect to minecraft.net and dl the fresh copy of minecraft.
However, now i am experiencing problems with the game crashing using minecraft 1.3 which i never had before. Here is the pastbin link where i posted the error message i got when i ran mycraft from a batch file.

Quote from jhomine »To All Viewers,
The Ancient's world had long since been stripped of minerals and miners had to travel across the galaxy to find possible sites to mine in. I Craft began as Myne, a proof-of-concept Python server written by Andrew Godwin. Myne was revolutionary at the time, being the first server with multi world and the only server ever that was designed to make copies of other servers' maps and archive them. Andrew founded a server called The Archives to this end. Shaava Bint Faroud and her survey team found many possible mining sites during their first survey run of Pern. They pried many enormous gemstones or precious metals from the soils of Pern, including the Shaava Ruby (passed on to Avril Bitra) and the Liu nugget, an enormous nugget of gold pried from a river on the northern continent, probably near Lemos or Igen. These precious findings were not enough to interest a mining consortium but enough that they tempted Avril Bitra, Shaava's heiress, to treachery.

Quote from Clintonxa »Yes, but on the condition that:
- You guys don't overwork yourselves and lose interest
- Mod quality doesn't reduce due to alternate focus.
- It isn't just a re-hash of notch.tumblr.com
- Has news about high quality/upcoming/interesting mods
- Has some news/gossip from Notch's Twitter (since, really, who actually visits twitter other than to post narcassistic crap?)
Essentially, as long as it's not going to become a drain on the forums, and has news that is more about the community releases and large MC releases it'll be useful.
Feb 12, 2011Here is a sure fire test that have the correct minecraft.jar in your lib folder.Posted in: Minecraft Tools
Doubleclick that minecraft jar you put in lib. If you then see the default minecraft launcher screen then you have the correct minecraft.jar there. Otherwise delete it and redownload the right one from the link provided in the OP.
Feb 6, 2011Guys join the webchat if you really want help.Posted in: Minecraft Tools
We've helped many already and in every case it has been something simple that was overlooked. It really isn't as complicated as it may seem.
And so far running from a batch file has worked for everyone when double-clicking mycraft.jar fails. There are just slight differences in what you need to put into your batch file depending on your system.
It is therefore much easier to help you live in IRC chat and we can catch things you might be overlooking or doing wrong easier that way.

For code, all we need is:
- a bunch of items (easy)
- a class taking advantage of ModLoader to create a BUNCH of recipes. (easy)
- an anvil (!??!!zomgwat how?)
Very very easy if you are using MyCraft. And it will still work after minecraft updates too!

I'm still alive, trust me! I've just been so busy with a lot of other things, so give me some time! Fortunately I had lots of time this weekend to get some gui and tools coding completed, so I'm one step closer with the Anvil Mod...
Speaking of which, I think I might be dropping the Market Mod and only working on the Anvil & Hammer portion, my reasons for doing this is so that I have less work to do and I can focus more on updating / managing one mod. If anyone wants to take the Market Mod idea, that'd be great! (Please give credit to ScottyDoesKnow for the coins icon, and me for the market block icon) I'm sorry for all those who extremely wanted the MarketMod, but it was just becoming more of a problem and I didn't have as much interest in it. Despite me dropping the Market,
I WILL CONTINUE PRODUCTION of the Anvil Mod...
One last thing, I'm renaming this to "Blacksmith Mod"
I was only in it for the market.
Yeah only reason i even looked at thread - capitalism mod sounded cool as hell, i could actually have an economy in minecraft! Guess it was too good to be true.. D:
