It worked till few days ago and now it doesent and im playin on multiplayer server. On singleplayer still works.

That would be an anti-xray server plugin. The server is blocking your xray. There's no way around it. They don't want you using x-ray on that server, so you can't.

I'd say that either a sharpness sword or an efficiency pickaxe would be better than that hybrid.
Swords are much better as weapons than axes. (at least in 1.8 how much will that change in 1.9?)
And I've never felt the need for efficiency on an axe (though to be honest I didn't like it much on pickaxes until I'd gotten used to it.)

I didn't say it would be the BEST use of it, I just said you COULD do it. :)

And yes, it does work, because Axes are weird and the game treats them as both weapons and tools.

You could theoretically use the book on an Axe. Axes can actually use the sharpness enchantment.

You'd have a dual-purpose Axe: The Sharpness would be used when attacking mobs with it, and the Efficiency when chopping wood. :)

That's strange... is there any way you could send me the test world you're using?

Not exactly, since I already changed the saplings in the world I was using. Though I have an older version of it stored that I can PM to you (it's actually the same one I sent you a while back).

But none of that matters, because I think I figured out what's going on anyway, and can reproduce the issue. I looked at the saplings using the F3 screen. Whether they appear has nothing to do with the type of sapling, it has to do with the stage of growth it's on. In that world (the one I'll send you), the Acacia and Birch saplings just happen to be on "Stage 1" instead of "Stage 0". What I have discovered is that any sapling on "Stage 1" gets controlled by the "Oak Sapling" setting instead of its own. While it's still on Stage 0, it's controlled correctly by its own setting.

The saplings in my test world are stuck under cobblestone blocks, so they can't grow into trees. But they apparently can change from Stage 0 to Stage 1, which doesn't look any different.

To try it yourself, set all sapling types to show while x-raying, except the oak one. Then plant a non-oak sapling (any other variety), and hit it with bonemeal until is goes to Stage 1 (which you can check by hovering over it with the F3 debug info up). When you do, it will now disappear when x-raying, since it will start using the Oak Sapling setting.

As for the snow and redstone, that's because the tile name for both minecraft:snow and minecraft:snow_layer are called just "Snow" - which is what i'm using. Same for the redstone ore and the melon stem.

minecraft:pumpkin_stem and minecraft:melon_stem are both called "Pumpkin Stem" for some reason - probably because a player never actual has the stem in his inventory...

What I could possibly do is add an option to the user interface to use the alternative names instead. However, in the "alternative name mode", all the saplings would be under minecraft:sapling. So I would have to find a way to merge the lists somehow without cluttering it up too much. I'll work on it and see what I can come up with.

Probably not a big deal. I mean, who's going to care about hiding melon stems while showing pumpkin stems or vice-versa? Same with the Redstone ores. The snow one might be mildly unfortunate, since the snow layers you'd almost always want hidden, but snow blocks are generally player-created (with the exception of the rare snow and ice biomes), and I do occasionally use them in builds. But if that's the biggest issue, I couldn't complain.

I figure that at some point down the road, Mojang will internally rename these things because they notice, and the situation will fix itself. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.

Which version of Minecraft are you using? The saplings are working as expected for me on 1.8.9.

    I'm also using 1.8.9.

I'll try again with a fresh download and install of both 1.8.9 and the latest version of your mod, and report back...

    EDIT:

OK, so the fresh install did the same thing, but what I realized is that while I was running 1.8.9, the world I was using to test was created in some previous version (1.8.3 maybe?). When I destroyed the Birch and Acacia saplings and replaced them, they worked fine. Not sure what was going on there, but it makes a lot of my other "findings" suspect now...

"Wood Slab" controls DOUBLE slabs of all 6 wood types. The single slabs are separately controllable, and work fine. Double slabs are "all or nothing" and controlled by the "Wood Slab" flag.

Along the same lines as this, I also discovered the following:

"Stone Slab" controls the single smooth stone slab, as well as all of the non-wood double-slabs, except red sandstone. So Smooth stone, Cobblestone, Stone Brick, Sandstone, Brick, Netherbrick, and Quartz double slabs are all controlled by "Stone Slab".

"Red Sandstone Slab" controls both the single and double version of the Red Sandstone slab (which is how I'd expect them all to work).

Another odd thing about the single slabs (all of them), is that any sides of a single slab block that are next to a hidden block (when xraying) don't render. This would be easier to explain with a picture, so I'll try to get one and post it later.

Hi AO! So I tried out the latest version. Here are a few things I've noticed with block selection, after some experimentation (in no particular order):

"Snow" controls both the full snow blocks as well as the snow layers. While not a big deal, ideally they should be treated separately.

"Acacia Sapling" and "Birch Sapling" didn't seem to show up on the list at first, but when I did get them to show, they don't do anything. The other saplings work as expected, but these two seem to follow the regular "Oak Sapling" setting, and not their own.

"Redstone Ore" controls both the lit-up and unlit versions of the ore (which is perfectly fine, but I thought they used to be separate).

"Melon Stem" doesn't show up at all. Melon stems follow the "Pumpkin Stem" flag.

"Mushroom" controls both the brown and red mushrooms (not a problem, just seems inconsistent with how flowers work).

"Wood Slab" controls DOUBLE slabs of all 6 wood types. The single slabs are separately controllable, and work fine. Double slabs are "all or nothing" and controlled by the "Wood Slab" flag.

"Anvil" seems to control BOTH the "slightly" and "very" damaged versions of the Anvil, but NOT the undamaged version.
"Slightly Damaged Anvil" actually controls the undamaged version of the Anvil.
"Very Damaged Anvil" didn't want to show up on the list at first, but even when it does, it doesn't control anything.

"tile.skull.skeleton.name" controls all mob skulls (which is probably fine)

"tile.null.name" appears to control the black-speckled portal field used on End portals.

That's all I've found so far. I'll let you know if I find anything else interesting... :)

I swear this used to work... Am I doing something stupid?

I did also confirm that X-Ray v4.1.6 installed on a vanilla 1.8.8 profile works just fine. I did a fresh install of that just to make sure I wasn't being a complete idiot.

    EDIT AGAIN:

Never mind! I figured it out. There was an old xray.json file in the config folder, presumably from some previous beta test version of X-Ray that I was trying out. That was apparently what was blowing it up, because once I removed that file, and let X-Ray create a new one, everything worked fine. Both Xray4.4 with 1.8.8 and Xray4.5 with 1.8.9 are working perfectly now. Sorry for the false alarm.

Very true, but not if it's disabled, and they aren't using it... That's why I said, "as long as it's disabled".

The poster asked for a version of the mod that only included flying, so he wouldn't get banned from a server. I was saying that he doesn't need to worry about it, as long as he never actually uses the X-Ray stuff. There's no way for them to know you have the mod installed if you never actually use it.

That said, there are several fly mods out there already, so he could always just install one of them.

Question. I want a profile that shows no blocks at all so I can see players around me easily. I hit J and get the dialog box. I hit + to make a new profile and I name it "Players Only" and checkmark the exclude all blocks. I hit OK and I get a proper list with nothing checked. All 4 option checkboxes are checked. I click the window's X to close it and get back in game. When I hit X though, I get the standard xray config. I hit J again, and it's set to "Players Only" profile and still, nothing is checked so I don't know why it's not working...?

You have to go into the regular Minecraft keybinds config and set a key to toggle the new profile you created. "X" just toggles the default xray profile.

    Wow...

People like you are the reason mod creators stop posting their mods on these forums. If you don't get an answer, it means that he doesn't know, or doesn't have time to help walk you through a solution. Mod creators aren't getting paid for this, they do it for free and for fun. They owe you nothing.

AmbientOcclusion has always been one of the most helpful and responsive mod creators out there, and typically goes above and beyond to help people, when he can. But he can't help everyone, all the time. So please just take your self-entitled attitude elsewhere.
