I find that one of the hardest things when making a skin, making one that's almost completely black look good.

I've made skins of anime characters that I didn't know for people many times, I know how hard they can be to improvise when you haven't really a clue who the character is. I looked up a reference and I think you did quite an awesome job on recreating his look.

If this is a 1.8 skin, I guess you could've been more creative with the 3D layer, like making the gloves, belt or bottom of the coat stick out. ^^

Other than that, I would've personally put the belt up a bit higher, as a part of the body instead of the legs, but that's just personal taste :)

    Over all, nice job :3

Here's another one of mine, a newer one this time. A girl in a dino costume, this is a pre-1.8 skin.

    Title explains itself.

Reply to give feedback to the skin posted above, and upload an image or a link to one of your own skins to receive feedback. :D

I thought this would be a nice way to see each others skins, help each other out and improve at making skins ^^

Here's an old one of mine:

Go ahead! Don't be shy :D

Note: please only use skins that you made by yourself.

posted a message on Steampunk technician skin, which version do you like best? + What's the most complicated skin you've ever made? ^^

I made this skin today, a steampunk technician, based on a concept art I found on DeviantART recently.

I was very pleased with the entire skin, except for the face, so I made multiple versions. I would like to know which of these faces is preferred by other skin-makers and minecrafters . ^^ Also please let me know if you have an idea for a better face than one of these 3.

I am struggling with creating male faces on skins all the time. Please let me see how you make them!

Also this is probably the most intricate skin I've ever made. Would be nice to see your most complicated skin too!

(If you want to have this skin for personal use, please send me an e-mail to [email protected])

Hmm it seems that your messing around with tools did turn out quite alright :P

Though I recommend to paint your skin pixel by pixel, that's how I do it.

Here's an old video for you, a time lapse of me making a skin :) might be interesting for you to watch.

It's a recording of a livestream btw, which is why I am doing all those other things during the video :P

Pixlr appears to be a bit like Paint.net :) I guess that's a quite alright program to use too, I had never heard of it before.

And yeah, I've had a look at your older skins. I see you work with noise, being pixels next to each other being of different darkness and color intensity, and you also use some kind of shading on some. How did you for example make the shading on the 'Lovable Thing' skin? Did you do that manually or do you add another layer to the skin with pre-made shading? ^^

No need to answer all this, but I figured I might be able to give you some more tips, if you're interested :)

Ahh that you're on Mac changes things.

You can also use Paint.net in combination with a skin viewing program, that can equal the quality of MCskin3D.

    :) hope that helps

Also then, this is useful too :) http://www.planetminecraft.com/skin/my-personal-18-template-explained-livestream-info/

Well, let me show you this.

My first skin compared to my latest ^^

For a 12th skin this is absolutely going the right way :) I've made about 200 skins until I tried new things in order to improve :P

My biggest tip to any skinmaker is: always keep experimenting!

Try new things, different kinds of coloring, new kinds of shading, be creative with templates. You will never improve if you continue to do the same thing over and over again (which is something I've learned from experience :P)

Other tips, work with a color palette, try working with transparency, drop the noise, dodge and burn tools and try to do everything by yourself.. And use MCskin3D of course, it's the best skin-making program around :D

I hope that helped :) maybe my guide will help you a bit.

Do you have other skins to show? I'm quite curious now ^^

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/skins/1212660-skinning-guide-make-your-own-skin-d maybe this partial skinning guide I made a while back will help you :)

Is this the first skin you've made? What program did you use?

If you're not using it yet, I can highly recommend MCskin3D ^^
