If time just passed during nappy time, everything would be great. As things stand at the moment, it doesn't. I for one think time SHOULD pass while we sleep.
Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms with the current beds, I just think they could be improved.
That's what I've been saying, with beds as is, you don't have to deal with creepers and stuff in the morning, time should actually pass to improve this.
^^^^^^ Regarding above.
No, then playing on difficulty is an advantage, I'm talking about killing survival unintentionally for unaware new players.
Okay that was a little over the top. But anyway, this is why beds could be a bad idea in the long run.
(Regarding "Just don't use it": I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about alienating new players in the future.)
Recently I made a map, gathered trees all day, then built a small fenced off area, and dug w/ ladders down and made a really small bedroom. I now have a large house and wall complex, and not a single hostile mob has spawned above ground after 20+ minecraft days. My point is that you no longer have to deal with creepers/spiders, even before beds you didn't have zombies and skeletons, but now you don't need to deal with any hostile mobs at all.
So obviously for those that play on peaceful, this isn't that big of a deal, but for those that want more out of minecraft it may be. For new players, beds will be part of the game, they started with it, so they will more likely to use it as an integral part of the game. i.e. Players joining after 1.3 that don't visit the forums, won't think there is more to minecraft, what survival can add to the game.
Solutions: Maybe make the beds run through the night in fast mode. Let all mobs spawn and run their course while you sleep it out for 10 seconds. Would this work from a technical standpoint?
Oh, and we definitely need them to change our spawn point, night skipping or not.
1. When one sleeps, does this attract or spawn mobs? Rather, is there a greater chance of being attacked when sleeping in the open at night, as opposed to standing in the open at night?
2. With soft light, there are some areas that are unnaturally dark, and ones that when soft light is turned off, they are brighter than the surrounding area, is this a bug or natural. (Not black, just darker than they should be.)
3. Soft light makes the net brightness of some areas go down, does the game see the blocks as the soft light, or real light brightness. Rather, if an area looks darker in softlight, and it's one light level above monster spawning level on normal light, does it's monster spawning abillity change?
4. Do beds act as spawn points? (yet) I'm getting conflicting information on that.

6. Do seeds spawn you in the same place every time? I'm getting the same coordinates.
7. Is a seed pre assigned by notch? Like, can I get my old pre-1.3 map seed, or were they all random before the update?
Thanks to anyone who can answer all these.

Me to, exact same coordinates with the 65.62 unrounded.
