I would be okay with removing this. After all, void fog is being removed. My main issue with void fog is it only shows up on the center of the screen. If you look at a part of the Nether then turn a little to the left or right you will be able to see more when the point you were looking at is on the left or right edge of the window. That has always annoyed me.

The reason why you see at an angle, but not straight on is because everything is rendered in a giant box shape instead of a sphere (it is minecraft afterall). I do agree it is annoying and like you I wouldn't mind seeing this go or at least change the rendering from a box shape to a larger sphere, so it makes more sense.

Yeah...the end. I don't know why they made it so small, but that isn't my fault. It could always be that nether diamond is harder or more dangerous to find in the nether while the end diamond is easier to find off-setting the tiny size of that dimension. Then again, The End needs to be bigger. Why is it so small?

    Actually good idea.

    Steep Beach

    Shallow beach

    Slope beach

There was another idea floating around here that mentioned some ambient sounds to the beaches. Perhaps each one of these beach types could have different sounds to go along with them.

    Either way /support

I don't see why you're so worried about it. Whether the range is 20 blocks or 10 it's still cheaper to use the standard method of creating a rail system. Saving their gold? Only thing it's good for is building powered rails, clocks, and weighted pressure plates. Everything else the iron version is better all around and cheaper.

It would actually make beaches less ugly IMO. Though as pointed out above not all beaches have gulls. If certain ambient sound effects for each biome can be turned on/off that would be great.

Swamps need the sounds of crickets, though very subtle as that sound can get annoying quickly if done incorrectly. Bird sounds while in the jungle, etc.

posted a message on Morganite (Diamond might not be the most valuable ore anymore!)
I don't really see how this is overpowered. It is the second rarest ore in Minecraft (first being emerald) and the hardest mineral to get. I can buff the price of the morganite amulet or make it have durability if you guys think I should.

The point is once you get it, you're far more powerful than everyone else. The rarity guarantees it. King of the mountain until someone else gets enough to match you. I think that once you hit the diamond tier any other variant needs to be equal to diamond, but with distinct advantages and disadvantages. Actually now that I think about it...

I would like to see 2 additional ores added to the game with similar rarities to diamond, but each found in the other dimensions. Then have all three have obvious advantages and disadvantages in a rock/paper/scissors kind of way. Diamond > {Nether Diamond} > {The End Diamond} > Diamond. This way, should Bob find enough {nether diamond} to make a full set, you can counter him by finding enough diamond to beat him. Then Tracey can go and find {the end diamond} to counter you.

Having other uses for new ores that people come up with is a nice touch, though. Some are good and others are bad (but probably only need a little tweaking).

There are always ideas for gear that is of a higher tier than diamond. It isn't needed. I'd like to see more creative uses for some of the stuff we already have in-game. Like obsidian scissors (better durability -or- yield...not both) and boats (for traveling across lava lakes/oceans). Sticky pistons that can release the items they push/pull (perhaps a new model that has a built-in comparator). Etc...

I doubt that. They are treating those stones more like marble than actual stone. If anything I would think maybe step and slab variants might be what we get.

posted a message on What is your favorite minecraft Mob
Skeletons. Only mob that makes me thing strategically when I have to take on larger numbers of them. Zombies I just force through a narrow passageway and then grind'em down. Creepers I use charging knock-back attacks. Endermen...just go for the legs..no need to hide. The rest are meh.

The only mob I respect more than the skeleton is the spider jockey. For obvious reasons.

posted a message on What Was Your First World Like?
I started in a plains biome with a jungle not too far away. I think to the north was the ocean and far west was a desert. I started my home in the side of a ravine and from there built a large tower. Learned everything the hard way. Wasn't until I got a hang of how things worked that I started checking on what kinds of stuff others were doing that I hadn't thought of. Opened my eyes.

I wish I kept that world. So far I've started new worlds after every major update and every so often I get nostalgic for the world I started on.

posted a message on More Paintings: Use Wool Color to Select Texture File
Using wool color to dictate which painting is pulled from the texture file would be great. I recently watched a video at achievement hunter where they played CTF and it was painful watching them fail miserably trying to place the 'flags'. Regardless which version of the game they were playing this would be great to have in all versions.

posted a message on Removing the stripes from glass block in a legal way
The problem with normal glass is that it isn't transparent in the same way that stained glass is. You could make those streaks in the glass partially transparent, so you can see through them. As it is now you cannot do that. Shame...

I'm not particularly sure how this works logically. Why would water touching lava from the north side create a different block than, say, the east side?

Also, there's probably a reason these blocks are rare. (Not sure why they would need to be, because they're essentially a building block...), however I think Mojang would rather keep them that way.

Rare? I have double-chests full of each type and I only play in a small area of the map. That's just from clearing out section of caves I've found to get ores. Nevermind the fact there is already a crafting recipe for these new stone types.

posted a message on IDEAS FOR BEDS!!
I thought this was a thread with multiple ideas for beds. I only see the one. It isn't all that bad, but your number one argument against it is to just use a texture pack or create your own and just change the color. Counter-argument is that maybe you want a row of beds that are of different colors for whatever reason. Counter to that is to just use signs or some other method to identify a specific bed. Back and forth all day with that one...

How about this: Sleeping in a bed during the day sets the day to night. That would be handy.

Because it would inevitably end up being 1 or 2 rails followed by 10 random blocks followed by 1 or 2 rails...Yes the rail itself might look nice but littered across the terrain it wouldn't. I agree map makers could use it, but map makers can just use command blocks to the same effect. As to magic and machinery mix all the time, I know, I like that.

You're expecting someone to use this to jump short distances instead of using a continuous rail system. I think that the purpose of this new rail type is to allow you to overcome certain obstacles in the terrain like jumping across a ravine from y=23 to y=31 without creating some ugly spiral bridge. Maybe have your rail system end at the edge of a cliff and have it connected to a floating base nearby.

    Think outside the box.
