posted a message on Ability to place any slab on any slab.

I just commented on this very suggestion in the Small Suggestions thread. I'll just copy/paste the whole response here.

It would be nice to have this feature.

But just in case you weren't aware:
Slabs are still recognized by the game as occupying a full block space, only with a reduced collision mask. This is why placing any other block on a slab (including other slabs) will cause it "float" -- occupying the next block space. But when you place a slab onto one with the same Block ID the game actually creates an entirely different block. That's why you have to mine the entire "double slab" as if it was a full block (i.e. you can't just mine the "top" or "bottom" slab... there no longer is a top or bottom slab).

It certainly is possible to create "double slabs" for every combination, but consider that for every slab a new block is needed for every other slab that can be combined with it. So.. with the 14 slabs currently in the game that's a total of 196 possible combinations. Or 182 additional double-slabs. Factor in that each new double slab needs a customized Item Drop to give back the proper slabs... ...

So while it's not a "hard" fix, it definitely is a tedious one. I wouldn't want that job.
    Still, Support.

posted a message on The Next Big Title Update Questions TU?? 1.8 (Bountiful Update)
    Quote from Cire360»

There are of course some exceptions to the rule. These include things that generate within the structure file, and include both jungle and desert temples, villages, both natural and player created, and more importantly witch huts and guardian temples.

Why do I bring this up?

Because half of your 1100+ posts have been about Witch Huts?

    I kid, I kid. ;)

Its important because you can create a seed now that has witch huts. Witch huts are created based on the seed, chunk and biome. Witch huts as I mentioned are saved within a special file called structure.dat (though it maybe different name for the console). Point is that the seed generation changes within 1.7, and 1.8,

My seed right now has quad witch huts, but in 1.8 the location of the witch huts is within a huge ocean biome. Within 30 or so blocks away from one of my witch huts in 1.8 generates a guardian temple. The neat thing is that this area will still be able to create guardians. When I load up 1.8 update it should mark the area within the structure data as a guardian temple. So All I need to do is dig out the area, flood it and vola guardians should spawn.

You can do the same thing now on your older maps, simply take the seed of the older map, and create a new seed using it, look around from a witch hut, when you find one, make note of the location of the witch hut, its starting x,y,z and the offsets. You can now return to your older world, goto that location and create a witch farm/hut that will function just as if it spawn there naturally. So more or less any older world can always have witch huts, and or guardian temples. Though the structure won't generate, they will for every other purpose work exactly the same. I hope this makes since, and helps.

This is of course assuming the seed-strings on the consoles are going to be structured the same as the PC. I don't see why not, but it might be too soon to make claims such as this. If true, that's great. I've been dying to make a bono fide Witch farm. However, I'm likely to just scout out a new map rather than hope my current world generates a Hut. Well... there are a dozen other reasons for making a new world, too.

posted a message on Adventure mode anomaly?

    Either:

    1) You're Trolling.

    or

    2) Someone else is using your account/accessing your world and building those things.

    There are no other options.

posted a message on Let's discuss renewable resources.

I have to say... I just can't get behind the idea of a "biome reactor."

Diorite, Andisite and Granite will have crafting recipes for them so old worlds won't need to worry. Those blocks are plentiful enough when properly generated, though. Mossy cobble and Mossy Stone brick will also have recipes and Cracked Brick will be made by placing plain Stone Brick in a furnace. As for the others:

Packed Ice - 9 regular Ice blocks ---> 1 Packed Ice

Red Sand - Sand surrounded by 8 Redstone dust ---> 1 Red Sand block

Podzol - [shaped crafting, from top - bottom] 3 Leaf bocks (any type, though Spruce makes the most sense), 3 Quartz shards, 3 Dirt blocks ---> 3 Podzol.

Clay - Water bucket surrounded by 8 Dirt ---> 8 Clayballs (2 Clay Blocks)

Quartz shards should be made available through Trading.

Like BP mentioned, bonemeal can be used to "grow" dead bushes and ferns, etc.

Not sure what else there is...

posted a message on Do u need xbox live to play in multiplayer?

Just to confirm... You can't play multiplayer with players on other Xbox if you do not have a gold account?

    Correct.

I think a lot of the confusion is with Microsoft's stupid decision to use the terms "Silver" and "Gold". Silver is the free account that you get simply by plugging the console into the internet. It let's you download and use Aps, as well as purchase games and content. Gold is the pay-account that provides the above options and adds the opportunity to host and join online games. There are some additional perks with Gold, like the Free Game of the Month and other such promotions. I think terms like "Basic" and "Premium" would have been a better choice, though.

    No worries D...any ideas?

BloodyPhoenix pretty much nailed it on the head.

Composite layers using Hardened and Stained clay to emulate the above picture. I would also set a bottom layer to about 30 Hardened Clay so you can get some good depth to the world. Set the map to "Desert biome."

Once the world has loaded use TNT to blast holes so you create the canyons and fissures and plateaus, etc. Sprinkle some sand here and there so you can plant dead bushes and cacti. Done.
