I'm in the process of clearing out a large tract of land so that it's impossible for any mobs to spawn outside of my mob system / grinder / farm / whatever you want to call it.
I've been trying to see if there's a "best" version of a system (as far as items/minute) but it doesn't seem like there's anything concrete. From personal experience, Etho's Practical Mob System is not the way to go, mostly because the 1x1 drop hole gets jammed way too easily, especially in a maximum efficiency system. I noticed that myself in an old world where I built it, and this video shows the problem as well:
I've considered the mob system that Etho has been building recently, but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort of setting up. It'd be interesting to see a comparison between an animal AI system and something like what's in the video I just linked. It seems like you sacrifice spawning space for getting the mobs out of the system faster... but is it worth it?
The next question is whether there are any mob systems that can accommodate spiders. It seems that all designs prevent spiders from spawning, which is understandable since they can definitely jam up most of the designs people use. I'm just wondering if there is a solution that allows you to collect string and spider eyes without a separate spawner farm.
One more thing; I clicked the button to generate a complete map, but it gets suck on "Connecting..." for several minutes and then I get this error:
---
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
---
I'm confused here, what connection to what server was reset? Isn't this just assembling an image file out of a few other image files? What sort of connection is required in that process? My data folder for this server is only about 10 mb. Is there any way to fix this?
Somewhat related, when I scroll around the map in my browser window, it "unloads" areas quite frequently, is there any way to stop them from unloading so I can get a better idea of what's around me? I love the idea of JourneyMap, but I just can't seem to use it very effectively. The idea was to be able to use it to scout out areas that I've been and possibly return to them at a future point, but the map itself is a bit too clunky and I can't generate a full map to view at my leisure.
Edit: I just checked my screenshots folder, and the image was there.... so sorry for the complainy post. May just be an issue with JourneyMap throwing up an error message (although it seemed like a generic browser/webpage error) but still completing the process.
I really like the map, I do. But, I feel that it's too hard. I can't get past wave 2.
I can get to about wave 11 or 12 before just getting owned on Normal. I feel the map is made primarily for 3 players. It would be nice to have a single player version.
Once there's no more "safe candles" you just can't kill mobs nearly as fast than they spawn. You can try to run and survive, but then you don't make any money to get the upgrades you need to continue further.
Doesn't help that I lag quite a bit without Optifine.
One of our server's mods makes it so certain crops/trees grow optimally in only certain biomes, so we want to find the best areas where 3-4+ biomes are nearby.
Hello, fellow Civcrafter.
My question: How do I load data from a SMP server if I'm not currently logged into it?
AutoJoin doesn't work at all. My Forge is installed correctly, I use several Forge mods, and when I check my mods it lists AutoJoin as active. However, when I try to join a full server, there's no additional options to attempt to keep connecting.
What is the point of this mod when it does absolutely nothing?
I don't see how the above two posts are very relevant to my post, I'm not asking about base enchanting. My questions regard the limits of adding and upgrading enchantments via the anvil table and books.
I have done a bit of experimenting and it does seem that other enchantments on the item don't really effect each other. For example, I had a Protection IV / Aqua Affinity I / Unbreaking III helmet and it still seemed relatively cheap to add Respiration to that. Which seems odd, since I wasn't able to upgrade a sword to Sharpness V and I thought that was supposed to be possible. I thought that maybe the other enchantments on the item was making the item too costly to upgrade any further. In some cases that seems to be the case while in others it does not, so I'd really like some clarification, possibly from someone who is familiar with the code or at least has done more experimentation than I have currently.
I posted a similar thread a few days ago and didn't receive any responses, so I'm trying again.
I was wondering if there were any up-to-date guides (1.4.6) on min/maxing enchantments. Some sites I used before haven't been updated since 1.3.
I was wondering what "optimal" enchantments might be for each item. For example, can I have a diamond helmet with Protection IV Respiration III Aqua Affinity I? I'm pretty sure this is possible, but could I add Thorns and/or Unbreaking to that? If I have a Sharpness IV diamond sword, how do I upgrade it to Sharpness V? Do I need another Sharpness IV book? Adding Sharpness III doesn't seem to do anything. What can I add to a Sharpness V diamond sword? Can I add Looting III or Flame Aspect or both? I have many questions like this, and wondering if anyone has done enough experimenting to come up with a decent min/max guide.
Looks like that processor is supposed to support OpenGL, try updating your drivers like it tells you to. If your drivers are up-to-date and you still get an error, someone else may have to give you advice since I'm not very familiar with laptops. I know they make external dedicated video cards but I'm unsure as to how useful they actually are.
I used to use http://pernsteiner.org/minecraft/enchant/ all the time, but it appears to be out-of-date now considering I'm getting considerably weaker enchantments from enchanting at level 30. I was wondering if there were any other resources out there as good as that website, but updated to the current version of the game. I'm also mostly interested in the odds of getting various enchantments on books.
Interesting that you mentioned that. Same happend to my girlfriend trying to put Unbreaking III on a diamond sword. We thought it was because she already had 4 enchants on it (from a random level 30 enchant) and maybe 4 was the max.
I was trying to place Unbreaking III on to a bow with Infinity I and Power III.

I realize this.
