Any chance you've got the R195 Server file?

On a different note, what's the deal with the disconnection penalty? I got off at like 2pm to go get a bite to eat, came back after like 30 minutes, and it said I had to log on at 8pm. Then i refreshed and it said 9pm and now I'm waiting an entire day-night cycle again?

I agree with Ouatcheur. I started in right before him, and I walked for three days before I found animals. This isn't a huge server, but some readily available food is almost a requirement when starting in mite, especially in the experimental branch.

You could also offer the player a choice on wether or not to take the bowl, and perhaps lose 2-5 levels in exchange, or something along those lines. As it stands, however, starting in a multiplayer server is almost impossible, and death means a complete loss of progress simply for the fact that if you did find animals, you were likely too far away to go get your stuff.

Alternatively, you could make setting a spawn point somewhat easier, so that once a new player has found somewhere a good distance from spawn, the player doesn't get completely reset by a death.

I've recently picked MITE back up, and it seems a bit easier than before. Maybe I've finally got the hang of the beginning! More likely I've just gotten lucky with a good seed. Had a few close calls, but survived my first blood moon (barely) and I've got a small pumpkin farm started, although it hasn't produced yet. I know a lot has changed (haven't played since April or May) but I do have a few questions, and I'm sure more will come. Here are the first few:

-How far apart do crops have to be to keep from getting blight? Is it the same for all crops? Even my precious pumpkins?

-Does anyone have tips for a good mushroom farm?

-How big should chicken farms be these days? anything I should be on the look out for, other than making a glass ceiling?

-My aspirational base design involves flowing water. Do buckets place source blocks now, or are they still temporary flows? Is there another way to manage source blocks?

-Is a swamp, once the trees are cleared out to cut down on wood spiders, a good biome for farming? Is there a better one? or do biomes not make a big difference in crop growth now?

-Also any other general wisdom the community has for the mid-game would be appreciated. Haven't made it this far since like R-70 something

Also, I've recently discovered what may be a new witch's curse... one of the draw backs of a swamp base...

"Clumsiness... Everything feels clumsy in your hands and crafting is difficult."

I've attached a photo for proof.

Last thing, Avernite, it would be awesome to get a death counter. Even just a /deaths command would work. Simply how many times I've died. Thanks!

-> Chickens drop only half as many eggs, tops.

-> Also Eggs food value could be only say 1+1 (with Pumpkin Pie and Cake Slices food values adjusted accordingly, or recipes needing more than 1 Egg). After all, an egg is a rather small food item, about half as much "food mass" as let's say an Apple.

Eggs dropping less could help the problem here, but I'll point out that doing that will just force the player to keep more chickens, which isn't really particularly difficult, if you have the ability to keep any at all. Maybe instead of forcing the player to keep more chickens, it could be somewhat harder to keep them? I don't have a suggestion on how to achieve this, but if chickens are too good a food source for their ease of use, and their food output seems reasonable, or hard to fix, then the only thing left to do is make it harder to keep them. Maybe as the number of chickens the player has goes up, it gets progressively harder to keep them safe? I don't know.

I disagree with the part about eggs being worth less. While it is true that an egg weighs less than for example an apple, I'm pretty sure it still is more nutritious.

Also, I know that recently gems (diamonds lapis etc) became useful as xp items. Could shards be used the same way? or is there some other use for my one diamond shard that I'm missing?

note to self: zombies can kick you in the face. Dig 3-block deep holes...

I was actually just wishing that I could place source blocks. I think requiring some xp to do it is a great idea!

    This is great!

I think I may have the opposite problem, though. I tend to move pretty quickly, usually every day. I hardly ever stay in the same place for more than 2 days, since I begin to run out of food. That said, I could probably gather more seeds, but that always seems like a minimal gain idea. I'll give the two day system a try though. The morning tree idea seems especially promising.

    A few questions, though:

When I hit mobs, I tend to get hit back, even when I'm within an area that they shouldnt be able to get into, and even when I'm using a stick. Have the rules on taking damage for that changed since sticks started breaking?

How much hunger/satiation does a pumpkin soup heal?

Maybe I'm missing something, but how would I get mushrooms from trees? also, how does one make a red shroom farm?

It seems like every time I start a world in MITE, I struggle to avoid phyto malnutrition in the early game. I can stay alive for a fair time, wandering some and gathering gravel and hunting for food, but sooner or later, generally about day 8, I find myself malourished. I tend to eat apples and seeds a fair bit, but my main early game sustenance is meat, as farming requires copper that I don't yet have at that point. I guess what I'm asking is, how do yall suggest getting plant based nutrition before you can farm it?

Also, shout out to Ouatcheur for helping me out in my late start on the Easter Server!

Update: Better question, is there an updated recipe list somewhere that I'm missing?

Couldn't get titan to work on my computer (I have a mac) but I wound up finding a similar thing. Unfortunately, I only glanced at the server time, and read 6AM when it actually said 6pm.. hehe.. I guess I'll just wait my half hour until it's safe..

Edit: And then I tried to get on and found that I am now going to be forced to survive an entire night with nothing. Excellent. what a way to start a server. Here we go!

First off, F3+S did not fix it. Good idea though, I had forgotten to try that.

Buuuuut the "virtual" folder did fix the problem! Thanks so much for being active on this forum!

    Hey guys,

So it's been a long, looong time since I've played MITE. Like, R 83 was the last one I saw kind of thing. So you can imagine my pleasant surprise when I look at the wiki and see that a fairly large update had come out quite recently. I immediately decided that I needed to try out the game again.

So I downloaded the mod files, unzipped it and ran the command file installer (I am on a mac, but could switch to PC if that helps. Hacintosh perk) Anyway, I loaded up a test world, which went fine until I took a step, at which point some read text appeared in the top right corner. The game continued to run, but had no sound.

The text reads "SoundManager: "step.grass" not found in sound pool!" and on the line below that, it says "Press [c] to clear error message"

The "step.grass" bit is replaced with whatever sound would normally be made, such as "random.click" or "mob.sheep.say" or whatever else.

It seems that there is some disconnect between the game and the resource pack, so I removed all the other packs I had, and replaced only the new MITE one. Still no sound, still the same error code. If I clear the error code, it seems to come back the next time a sound would have been made (e.g. next step, hit, splash, etc).

I've gotten to the point that I re-downloaded minecraft and 1.6.4, and the same issue is still there.

Any ideas on what to do?

update: Also tried using the newest Puravida resourcepack. It looks nice, but still has the error and no sound :/

ya, I've always wanted a chicken farm but spiders make it basically impossible. I considered at one point making a giant glass pane cage, but it seemed way to expensive for the benefit and i didn't do it. maybe change the way spiders path to/target chickens so they'll out them but only out in the open, without having to climb? just an idea, I haven't the faintest idea how the code works but I thought i'd offer my suggestion. chicken farming otherwise would be reeeeally great.
