I highly recommend to use JEI, which will allow to see all recipes ingame, just hover with your mouse over an item and press 'r'.

    Okay, thanks for the tip!

Both of those features are implemented in 1.10.2 and 1.11.2. You can use this mod in survival mode and there are sliding doors which move straight.

Thanks for the reply! However, I was more wondering if the tools were possible to craft in survival mode (which you have confirmed they can be), and if so if you could tell me what the recipes were or where I could find them.

I'm really enjoying this mod a lot, thank you for all the work you've put into it CreativeMD! Is it creative-only, or can you craft the tools in survival mode as well? I looked for some recipes but couldn't find anything and was curious. It's fine if it's creative-only, I can just swap between creative and survival mode to use this mod.

I'd also recommend Mystcraft. If you've ever played Myst or Riven you'll understand how it all works pretty quickly, but a quick rundown is that you can create special books that describe an Age (a dimension) and then you can create books to travel back and forth between them. You can customize what sorts of biomes you'll find, weather, day/night cycles, colors of the sky and water and grass (I believe, it's been awhile), all sorts of stuff, plus create randomized dimensions as well. You can find out more on the mod's thread and homepage.

the most stable version of the aether 2 for mod packs (hopefully!) will be the mutation update, and hopefully then we'll see some mod compatibility. but we won't get to use the latest version of most mods, because the aether is still in 1.6.4, and it'll still be in 1.6.4 when mutation arrives...

I'm using the Aether II and several mods (including Thaumcraft 4, Mystcraft, Dimensional Doors, Twilight Forest, and more) without any incompatibility at all. It may not directly support other mods, such as none of their blocks have Thaumcraft aspects, but that's okay.

Well, the hotfix is to fix donations primarily, and remove capes to comply with EULA, which must be done by August 1st (the ETA is more of a deadline). Still nothing to share regarding Mutation yet, though.

So the hotfix won't update the mod to 1.6.4, it'll just fix the donations and remove capes and stuff? I'm fine with it either way, I just want to be certain I'm not misreading what you're saying

It doesn't, sorry. We're currently working on a hotfix that will release sometime in July. It'll contain compatibility with 1.6.4 along with many, many bug fixes. :)

Wait, so there actually is an ETA on the hotfix? What about for the mutation update? Or is that still "When it's Done"? ;)

Alright thanks, so do I have to use mcnostalgia to get back to 1.6.2?

Nope, the current version of the Minecraft launcher can do that for you now, no need for a mod anymore. When you first start it up, there should be a button labeled "edit profile." Click on that, then in the dropdown box labled "use version" select the version you want (such as 1.6.2). Click "save profile" at the bottom, then click "Play." Minecraft will take a few seconds to download all of the files needed to play the 1.6.2 version, and you can switch between versions whenever you'd like. If you use the Minecraft Forge installer after that, it will create another entry in the "use version" box (for example, I'm using "release 1.6.4-Forge9.11.1.953" which not only shows that I'm using 1.6.4 but that it's using the version of Forge 9.11.1.953) and you can select that too now.

Your existing modded map or a past Aether map? You shouldn't have problems installing the Aether II's next update with your current mod setup, it's just switching maps from this current update to next update.

Just with my current modded map, it's been a loooooooooooong time since I had a past Aether map. And thanks for the reply, I look forward to the eventual next release!

Depends. Both ID changes and generation changes are going to be in this update, so you'll definitely have to wipe the Aether, but you shouldn't have to do anything to your overworld/Nether unless there are Aether blocks/Aether items in said worlds. If users also have Aetheric items in their inventory when updated, their playder.dats will have to be deleted.

So if I'm not using the Aether mod currently (since I'm on 1.6.4 right now for other mods) then I probably could use it with my existing map?

We are glad you are enjoying the mod. =)

I responded a few days ago and if anything had changed, I would have certainly reported it. The strawberries can be removed by digging out the block under them and you can then fill it in with dirt. While this is certainly a bug that needs to be fixed, this will be addressed in the 1.7 release which will then be back ported if not fixed before then. The postive is that they don't spawn in every biome and can be looked at as an easy source of food.

Allaryin is aware of the problem and is trying to find time to work on it, but his work schedule has been hectic as they are working with a deadline. On top of that he has a family and 2 small children that certainly deserve time with their daddy.

Shecky is working on this in his debug set up using your config and has of yet, been unable to reproduce the crash. We will let you know as soon as we find anything out.

Thanks for being so understanding. =) There is indeed a lot behind the scenes that people don't realize.

I mentioned this over in the Aether mod thread, but designing content, modeling, texturing, animating, coding, and balancing mods is hard and time-consuming work and I greatly respect those of y'all that do so for our enjoyment. Especially since it's nearly always done in your free time with no compensation. Take all the time you guys want, we'll still be here. ^_^

Just saying, but it's been almost a month since you said you were going to release the Mutation Update. I know how hard it is to mod, but seriously. The Aether Team is made up of professional modders, modellers and texturers who have had years of experience. Just a suggestion, but by 'soon', most people mean two to three days. At the most a week. I'm not trying to be critical, but brushing up on your skills of estimation would be helpful and would aid in avoiding more comments like "It's probably coming out before 2017",
"I hear that Pokémon will be running out of names by the time the update is released" and so on an forth.

I don't know if you were including me specifically or not, but my comments were entirely in jest. I really like the Aether mod and I respect it's creators. I also understand that they're doing it in their free time, and that designing content, modeling, texturing, coding, balancing, and everything else associated with creating mods is time-consuming work. I'm sure that the Aether mod team is doing everything as fast as they can without sacrificing quality, and because of that I'm willing to wait however long it takes.

I just wanted to poke fun at them and the pace development is taking is all.

No, see, I was making a joke that they're so slow that it will be another 2-3 years before this next update ever gets released.

Alas humor, much like a frog, dies when you dissect it.

I've never recieved malware or adware from the adf.ly sites myself since I run adblock, but it wouldn't surprise me that their adverts do such things or link to other places that do. And like I said before, I don't have a problem with people giving mod authors money in appreciation for the work they do. That was never the issue for me. The issue is mod authors thinking they deserve money every time someone downloads their mod and forcing all of us to use adf.ly sites to get them. That's like drawing pictures of stuff and uploading them to the internet, then forcing everyone that wants to see the pictures to first have to click through adf.ly's website first before they can. Sure, once isn't so bad but every time you want to view the images? It get old fast.
