It freezes because ffmpeg is waiting for /dev/dsp to stop delivering audio data, which doesn't happen in normal operation. Minema freezes the game as long as ffmpeg is still running, but I plan to fix that with threading. Until that, you need to terminate ffmpeg manually somehow, under Linux with "kill" (I believe there's a signal for clean termination).
But even if that works, the main problem is that the recorded sound is most likely asynchronous to the video. The audio playback can't be synchronized in the same way as the frames.
You could try lower frame- or bitrate values. Or use a different codec, huffyuv or mjpeg for example. Do you have a single-core CPU?
I have 8gb of ram and a quad core cpu at 2.50 ghz with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti, I don't know if that helps at all, if you need more info, but feel free to ask. Thanks again.
changing bitrate and codec doesn't seem to help. but as said it still functions well when minecraft is not "maximized".
i am able to record, but it only runs well when it is "windowed" very small, when i maximize it it becomes laggy and unplayable, same with full screen mode. any ideas?
