posted a message on Crashes when loading minecraft

I'd love to explain in this post how to allocate more RAM, but it's best to have a visual guide for this. Check out this video:

Be aware that he does have numbers in the description for whatever amount of RAM you want to allocate to Minecraft.

Also, look for an option called "Advanced Settings" near the top of the screen in the Launch Options, just below the Minecraft banner. Make sure it's enabled or you won't be able to change the JVM arguments to allocate more RAM. This youtuber failed to mention that.

posted a message on End-game farms?

If you're going for completion, you can make a ghast farm, a guardian farm, a passive mob farm, and a wither skeleton farm. If you want more after that, I believe it's possible to build creeper-only and spider-only mob farms, if that's your cup of tea.

posted a message on Zombie with Diamond Armor

I've seen one fully diamond armored zombie, one baby zombie with a full set minus the boots (both in the same world), and then my friend found a fully diamond geared Skeleton in our modded world. They are really rare finds, consider yourself lucky :D

Reminds me of the time I AFK'ed at my fish farm overnight and found a charged creeper the next morning...

posted a message on Rainbow Eucalyptus Multi-level Treehouse! (ExtraBiomesXL)

That's a beautiful new color of wood! I've never seen one of those biomes, and I've used Biomes O' Plenty quite a lot. I guess that just supports the argument that it adds an endless number of new biomes! :P

The wood actually reminds me of something I saw in ExtraBiomesXL, but I can't remember what.

Looks cool have fun building :D

    Quote from DuhDerp»

I believe the only way to get a nitwit to have trades is to spawn one in with an egg, otherwise they go tradeless.

Nitwits never trade under any circumstances. That's their purpose.

posted a message on Need to build entry level pc for mc

$400 is a very tight budget for a gaming PC, but it's very well possible. Check out this link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m6kpNN

I put together a build with a cheap Pentium processor and a $100 graphics card that should do you well for Minecraft. If you like, you can save money by going for 4 GB of RAM instead of 8, but in this day and age, and if you plan to do modded Minecraft, I highly recommend 8 GB. I also threw in a cheap 120 GB SSD, which is faster than a traditional hard drive (HDD). For the same money, you could switch it out for a 1 TB HDD if you prefer.

If you plan on building a PC, make sure you're prepared for the build. Watching build guides is a great way to learn about the building process - Austin Evans has a few that I recommend you watch. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Austin Evans how to build a PC

posted a message on will this laptop run minectaft well?

Don't expect to get a smooth 60 fps, but if you install OptiFine this laptop looks like it'll play Minecraft well, for a laptop with an integrated intel graphics card. My Toshiba Satellite C75D-A, armed with an A6-5200 APU with Radeon HD8400 graphics, with OptiFine on Minecraft 1.11.2, is able to play at a solid 30 FPS, sometimes higher or lower by 10 FPS depending on where I am in my world. This is with things like smooth lighting and fancy rendering and 12 render distance, but I also have to turn off ALL animations through OptiFine, otherwise my framerate is cut in half most of the time.

Your hardware is better than mine, so I expect your new laptop to play Minecraft better. You should have few worries!

The only worrisome part is your RAM. My laptop came with 6GB of RAM, and I upgraded to 12 down the road. If you plan on getting into super-heavy modpacks, you may want to upgrade to those 8 GB of RAM, although I can't guarantee the machine will handle the modpack well. I tried an 80-mod modpack for 1.7.10. With animations off and render distance at 2, I never get more than 10-15 FPS in that world, and I average 5-10 FPS in my base. I also get huge lag spikes when the world auto-saves.

That aside, your new laptop is going to play vanilla Minecraft very well and you can play mods to an extent too!

EDIT: My laptop used to run windows 8, but it's been running 10 since it was released. The dimensions of my screen are 1600x900, and I play in a maximized window all the time, which equates to roughly 1600x837.

posted a message on Been away from Minecraft for a while. How does the new mob stacking suffocation affect XP farms? How can I work around it?

The default value of maxEntityCramming is 24, meaning that the 25th entity that comes into contact with the other 24 will cause one of the mobs to take suffocation damage until the group is below 25. This would affect farms that build up mobs in concentrated spaces, like most blaze farms for instance. Perhaps the easiest way to fix it without changing the gamerule is to make the killing room a bit larger to make space for the other mobs.

You can change the gamerule with:

    /gamerule maxEntityCramming [insert # here]

Myself, as soon as i update to 1.11 I'm changing the gamerule to 0, which disables maxEntityCramming completely.

posted a message on Ocean Monument didn't spawn the whole thing

I've seen half-generated ocean monuments, and even one that didn't generate at all! I was rowing about through the ocean when I saw a cloud of guardians come up to the surface to greet me. There was no monument!

On the topic of guardian farms, my friends and I built a MASSIVE guardian farm that can produce up to 100,000 items per hour. (I haven't tested the one we built, so I don't know the exact rate).

If you're interested, here's the video tutorial by Alonofer20:

And here are two screenshots of the farm as we built it:

posted a message on Questions about Villager Trading

Once a trade is unlocked, that trade will never change regardless of how many times you use it.

If he offers you a Silk Touch book for ten emeralds, you can use that trade one time or fifty times and it will remain the same.

After a certain number of transactions (I believe it is seven by default, if memory serves), the trade will become locked - to unlock a trade you can

use a different trade of his. If this other trade has never been used before, the chance of unlocking the old one is 100%. If it's been used before the chance is a bit lower.

So to directly answer your question, a trade will never change.

posted a message on "Iron Towers" iron farm doesn't work on Realms

Id love to know if youve found an answer to this. I want to build this or another village stacking type iron farm in my realm. But i dont wanna waste 40 hrs for nothing!

For closure, I never was able to get this farm working. My friends and I tried building this farm on our realm, but we never could get it to work. We tore it down and my friends stopped playing Minecraft within the next few months. I continued playing in singleplayer and built the Iron Titan, which lagged the server, but produced a lifetime amount of iron.

Fantastic! I wanted to make a slowness arrow farm, but I couldn't figure out how once I learned that dogs wouldn't work. Definitely going to use that egg trick in future farms!
