I don't think it would work very well. Mojang lose a decent amount of money from hosting minecon so having multiple conventions would either be too expensive for mojang/attendees, or they would host one big minecon where there are panels about youtube, hosting servers, setting up servers, mod development, open FAQ with youtubers, meet and greets etc. and all the big youtubers go while the others would have a few panels about youtube, servers, modding, animating and redstone with a few youtubers to cover those. Although, the second option might work because Insomnia 49 was good for all the European fans.
True it would be pretty expensive. Maybe they could alternate the locations. Like 1 year its at their home turf, the next year its at Orlando, FL, then back to the home turf, and repeat. This will allow them to have 1 Minecon per year and still allow people to figure out which year they can go, when to save, etc etc. This will also not break their wallet with setting up the convention.
Also tickets I see are like 150.00 USD and up....I don't know what they are from official vendors like Ticketmaster, but tickets to the con should be like 50.00 max.
First I want to say that I am still new to Minecraft and to these forums.
So after hearing about Minecon and then reading some posts here in the forums and about how it should not be in the U.S. after this years Minecon; I started to brainstorm and here is what I came up with.
What if Minecon was held multiple times per year, but in different locations. Think of it like PAX. We could have two in the U.S. in the same spot every year (Orlando, Florida & LA California) and then one in the home location where Minecraft is developed, etc. Reason for having it in the same spots every year is to make it easy and simple for both the event coordinators, the developers, etc, etc, as well as for those who want to attend these cons. Having it in the same location will also give those who want to attend a chance to pick and choose which location to go to, when to start saving, and more tickets will be able available per location.
This is just an idea. Feel free to leave your own feedback on this, but please be respectful to others so that this doesn't become a drama thread and get closed
For those going to Minecon, enjoy yourself and take lots of pictures and videos!
