As happy as I am about the new features this bug bothers me...https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-83571
Custom boss fights in user made adventure maps will suffer because of it... Custom health bars was nice while it lasted...

Dec 18, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on Minecraft Windows Launcher Needs YOUR Testing and Feedback! Some of you people make absolutely no sense what so ever! They are doing this so that they can control the optimizations in house. This way if there are FPS issues or graphical issues or issues that could be caused by Java they can control it! How man times do you think they get complaints about issues that they can not fix because it is someone's Java installation that is screwed up? Well now that will not be an issue... Also do any of you even realize that Web Browsers have been doing this for years? Hell if you use Google Chrome than you realize how nice it is to never have to worry about if your Java is up to date or not! This is a step in the right direction not the other way around.Posted in: News

Sep 20, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on After Microsoft: What About Minecraft Youtubers?Posted in: NewsQuote from AnimationWiz»Well let us agree to disagree on that, for whatever it's worth, and hope they keep mods regardless of what happens if they don't.
I can agree on that. -
Sep 19, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on After Microsoft: What About Minecraft Youtubers?Posted in: NewsQuote from AnimationWiz»Well if mods are shut down they are about to get a couple million more subs, and after a month when the Ender Dragon is dead and the game is over they are going to lose those subs again, and minecraft will not be played any longer, and it will become the ultimate example of 'what happens when you sell out'.
There is alot more to do in Vanilla minecraft than just "kill the ender dragon" Remember custom maps are not considered mods... and people make amazing maps. -
Sep 19, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on After Microsoft: What About Minecraft Youtubers?Posted in: NewsQuote from AnimationWiz»How long do those last? How often do people post those series? In terms of length and size I'd say modpacks are still bigger and longer.
Your kidding me right? Some of the BIGGEST minecraft youtubers all play in vanilla... Hypixel has 442,000 subs... StampyCat has 3,700,000 subs... Seth Bling has 1,000,000 subs... Jl579 with 129,000 subs... And lots more... These guys are outshining alot of other youtubers with Vanilla minecraft... And also most of the people that play modded minecraft on youtube also play vanilla minecraft.
On that note. Im not disagreeing with the fact that if microsft dropped support for mods that it would suck... I am just simply stating that it wont kill youtubers as there are lots of vanilla youtubers out there! Some of us prefer the old school feel of vanilla over mods. I agree that modders have helped keep this game alive and there are thousands upon thousands of people out there who would be affected if they removed mods. But bottom line still remains... Youtubing minecraft is not going to die because of it. -
Sep 19, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on After Microsoft: What About Minecraft Youtubers?Posted in: NewsQuote from AnimationWiz»Now it's time to see what happens to what MADE Minecraft popular; mods. Still waiting on that answer.
Shutting down mods would effectively shut down Minecraft YouTubers, when was the last time you saw a vanilla let's play?
Every time someone does a lets play of Hypixel maps? All the youtubers that did lets plays of my maps.... ummm there are lots of vanilla lets plays... How about all of Seth Bling's stuff... should I keep going? -

Sep 10, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on Microsoft Buying Minecraft?Any business that spends 2 billion dollars on an acquisition wants to retain that profit withing a 3-5 year maximum turn over rate. Mojang's Current buisiness model only brings in 2-300 million dollars a year and not all of that is bottom line. In order for Microsoft to see a profitable turnaround(and make no mistake it is about profit, nothing else) They need to make changes. More than likely they will remove the ability to host private servers on future releases of minecraft and charge a premium for server space.. Microsoft Currently Owns more servers than we can possibly imagine and will benefit from a move like this that starts to utilize some of that space. Another move Microsft might do is make Minecraft Cross platform compatible which will broaden the amount of people who can play Minecraft. In order for them to do this considering all the legal hoops involved with oracle they have been subjected to as of late, they would have to make the game DirectX and OpenGL compatible and remove Java all together... This would provide support for not just windows but Mac Os as well... They may continue to allow java to run MCPE but we will not know till that point. I see Microsoft charging you Microsoft points to change your avatar skin and allow you to use their existing system to purchase the points with real money, while still having the opportunity to earn the points instead for free. These moves are practical business moves that more than likely Microsoft will implement.Posted in: News
These moves will hinder the modding community but will probably boost the map making community and they may still allow support for resource packs Hell maybe even make tools for it. I don't ever see Microsoft supporting 3rd party Mods as they can bypass any type of paid content they may choose to lay out later down the line.
And in to response to your comment. I am not a child. I work for a corporation that has been sold twice since my start of Employment and In the end the bottom line will always be the same... Profit. -

Well, going right out and calling me naive and such can easily be misinterpreted and such, so sorry I didn't really understand what you were trying to say at all, I just didn't really see how what you were apparently implying could be noticed at all. I honestly don't know what Microsoft could really have planned here for Minecraft, and I'm fairly certain that anyone outside of the deal doesn't know what's planned either, I'm just going to relax and see where this goes. Either way, I don't mind the community being worried, I can see why, we're essentially going from the parent/indie company of Mojang here to big bad Microsoft. I just think the community needs to relax and stop spamming the word "no" all over the internet and aimlessly flipping out over a possible change in ownership.
It'd just be a nice change in pace to see more of the MC community just chill out, rather than just aimlessly bashing a company before the deal even happens, assuming it that Mojang and Microsoft both go through with it.
Yes its true there are some unreasonable responses from the community. The truth of the matter though is Mojang depends on the community to make Minecraft possible. So without feedback from us Things would never happen. This game has become a giant part of the gaming world and has been an inspiration to many indie game makers. Something this big has big implications and allot of these users have built giant servers with hundreds maybe even thousands of players. If they feel all that work and time spent is in jeopardy they will react out of emotion and that is why you are seeing such unreasonable responses.
Regardless of what transpires between Mojang and Microsoft, I work for a corporation that has been purchased and sold twice during my time of employment and the bottom line is always the same. "What changes can we make to increase our profit margin and increase the company net worth?" And those "changes" could be good... But on the same note they could be very bad as well. Either way there will be changes, we just have to wait and see what those changes are. The only thing we have to go on is Microsoft's past reputation. -
Sep 10, 2014DarkJ2000 posted a message on Microsoft Buying Minecraft? That was not my implication. Your mind set was that we don't know for sure whether Microsoft was going to come in here and make any drastic changes or make the game worse off with either a pay per play system/micro transactions or anything to that extent. My implication to the previous comment was simply that with Mojang's current business model, Microsoft only stands to make millions from this acquisition. The only way they will make profit from a 2 Billion dollar acquisition is by making drastic changes that make them money.Posted in: News
And with that being said... Yes the community is worried. -

yeah but they want specific skeletons to shoot specific arrows...
0
hopefully "the map makers update" and they add more features centered around map makers... Like adding features such as the ability to give custom mobs their own health bar via nbt command.
0
you could run that command specified to a radius surrounding the entity with a custom named skeleton... you could even hide the custom name if you want to use numerical names.
Put this in a repeating command block:
/execute @e[type=Skeleton r=1 {CustomName:"1031"}] ~ ~ ~ entitydata @e[type=Arrow,tag=!proccessed] {Potion:"minecraft:swiftness",Tags:["proccessed"]}
Then use this summon command:
/summon Skeleton ~ ~1 ~ {CustomName:"1031"}
Let me know if it worked... Not sure I got the tags all correct for the radius or not but if I didn't I will revise it...Not at home atm so I can't test it but it should work.

as of right now in 1.9 Custom boss health bars are Broken! Bug number is MC-83571
I could use all of your support to help get us a resolution by doing one of the following...
1. Go to the Mojang bug site and vote on this bug to be fixed
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-83571
2. Go to this reddit post and upvoteit! https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/comments/48nz0a/ability_to_give_a_normal_mob_a_boss_health_bar/
As a map maker myself it is very frustrating when you spent well over a year working on a map and laying over 1000 command blocks to alter custom made health bars for your bosses and for it to be broken in the final release. As a community we need to stand together to get this noticed and to have people made aware of it. This will ensure that Maps will continue to be even more epic with each new update.

keep this going guys. Make people aware of this issue. Current boss health bars are broken... Bug MC-83571 We need something like what is in this thread or in my reddit page to allow for Map makers to continue to make epic boss battles in maps. Show your support!

Guys I made a Suggestion for this on Minecraft's Suggestion Reddit... If we all up vote it and stick together on this we might insight change.

I suppose your right.
0
yeah lol I would have tried that too if they still spun... Only option left is to have it restored by an outside company and with the heafty price tag and still not even having a 100% chance of recovering the data its not worth it...
0
Yeah I will definitely be using my dropbox account for future backups as well as my thumb-drive...
0
no not seen by bios... and do not spin anymore period.. even in another rig. Smell of burnt silicon on all 3 drives...
0
Thanks. I just feel so defeated you know... I just wanted to see what other people would do in my position. I suppose that's what I will do... Start a new project.
0
We don't have anyone local around here that can do that... And to send it out It's like 500+ dollars to do that... That's not going to happen unfortunately I will just have to live with the loss.. But what I really want to know is if you guys would start over with a new project or just give up all together?
0
Yeah the only screen shots I have of this world are in this thread..http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/maps/2285373-the-castle-of-doom-change-your-ending-4500?page=5
I only have those shots because I was letting people know about the progress of the map... All gone...
0
Soooo... yeah I was working on a map that quite literally was getting close to completion a year of my time put into it and... My power supply went haywire and fried all of my spin point drives... I am so upset... I backed up my world on multiple drives in my rig and all of them went by by.... I guess I should have backed it up on the cloud or on a flash drive... Well just needed somewhere to vent and you guys know what its like to work hard on a minecraft map... I had over 10,000 command blocks in the map. like 10 interactive boss fights with interesting mechanics... an open world map that was insanely awesome and quite literally the best map I had ever made... All gone...
So my question to you guys is... If this happened to you would you just give up on making maps or would you get up and try again? knowing it will take another year to accomplish what you did...
0
No....
