The number of bark sides you gain isn't the point, the point is you can finally use bark blocks in any way you want without 2 sides having the ugly tree-ring texture. Now you can just plop the bark blocks anywhere without having to build around hiding the tree-ring.

All of this new stuff for the oceans will FINALLY make them not a giant blue waste of space.
I'm actually not looking forward to the change to water physics though. If water flows through signs too, it will ruin some water elevator designs among other things.

Post reasons in this thread about why this version is inferior compared to the Xbox One Edition. I have several off the top of my head:
Interfaces. Why do we have to put up with this god-awful UI? The crafting interfaces alone are tremendously horrible. On the Xbox One edition, I very rarely didn't know exactly where to find something, but on this edition I have to use the search bar for everything that's not a tool, piece of armor, or a few other commonly-used items because the interface is just a massive block of junk with all of the game's craftables thrown into a pathetic 4 tabs. That's inexcusable. Then you have the option to change the interface cursor sensitivity removed, so we have this super-slow cursor unless you use the D-Pad to use the cursor on a gridsnap basis, which is very annoying for someone who has used the Xbox One Edition's free-flying cursor with relatively high sensitivity to rapidly zip through the menus for years. Why couldn't they just have copied the Xbox One Edition's interfaces, or at least given those to us as an option?
Enchanting: In the Xbox One version, when you put a bunch of different items in the enchanting table to check what you could get, every single item had its own table. Now in this version, every single tool and piece of armor of the same material class you put in have the same loot table until you enchant something to reset it. This leads to constantly having GARBAGE options on the table even if you have a full unenchanted set of tools and armor lined up.
Farming: Everything in this edition grows INCREDIBLY slowly. I don't need to elaborate further.
Villager Trading: In the Xbox One edition, trading with a villager always gave exp and would always reset their entire set of trades when they got a reset. In this version, when you get them to do a reset it only ever resets one of their trades at a time, leading to the player being required to buy an absolutely massive amount of worthless garbage to get back to the trades they want, making the trading almost 100% useless, and my farmer villager is not granting me exp unless I give him emeralds for apples.
Kicking: You can no longer AFK in a world to have your crops grow or active automated machines running for more than 10 minutes without getting kicked from a world for inactivity. This might just be something that applies to Realms, but it needs to be a setting that can be disabled for Realms that don't need to worry about active player count.

Do not spread misinformation. Realms is specifically being worked on.

Since this update is going to include the Amplified Terrain feature, it's completely pointless to do any more work on any existing non-creative worlds unless you are fine with keeping the smaller mountains and valleys.
When I get in the mood to relax and do minecraft, I now load my creative practice world to work on potential builds.

They literally only took questions from tiny children at Minecon so they could avoid talking about anything with an actual purpose. They deliberately avoided being asked questions that would hold them directly accountable for their complete joke of a work speed or design choices. Instead all the kiddies they picked to answer asked stupid questions about the mash up pack and all manner of other worthless garbage that nobody actually cares about.
Then we got an update (which is very quickly appearing to be this year's only one, per tradition) that gives us 7 new blocks, fossils, a new boot enchantment, polar bears, and igloos. That's it. Console Minecraft was already stagnant before and this is a death certificate if we don't get another content update VERY soon.

Frankly unless the devs have significantly more in the actual update, I feel like we're the butt of a very bad joke. They showed VERY little content considering we've been waiting nearly a year for it. Remember what we got last time we waited this long? Tons of new biomes, blocks, and items, superflat customization, and probably a whole host of other things I'm not even able to remember.
This update has what? A few new useless blocks, polar bears, igloos, frost walker, and another vegetable that does exactly the same thing as every other food item. Are we supposed to be excited for this?

When is some attention going to be given to the oceans? They're literally just a big blue empty waste of space right now. When are we going to get more aquatic mobs, coral reefs, sunken ships, anything?
