Took them long enough to add the switch when they said it was going to be one of the joined editions. It fell WAY behind.

If this leads to being able to have a pet turtle, I'm for it. Heck, I'm for any new ocean mob that makes any kind of sense.

So instead of giving us all 4, they're making us choose only one. Yeah, that's a spectacular decision.
A is the one I want to see the most. It looks like some kind of alien wallhugging trapflower.
B looks like a bat, which we already have, so I don't have any clue where this thing would go.
C is a boring-looking box.
D looks like a blaze that brought his floating spires in on himself for an armor-plate dress.
Instead of doing this "1 out of 4" thing, doing a massive overhaul to the game's oceans (which take up an ENORMOUS amount of space) would have been a much better focus. Even if the oceans in Minecraft weren't pathetically barren of anything whatsoever, they take up such a gigantic portion of in-game worlds that it's honestly inexcusable that they STILL apparently are not focusing on updating it. I feel like literally anyone else could be doing a better job getting this creative team's priorities straight.

"A whole host of new content for Marketplace"
Ends up just being a few lousy skin packs.

I know how to use a blur tool, so I could definitely at least do everything this guy is that we've seen so far.

Either this new pixel artist is a complete joke, or the developers are being too constricting in their tasks for him. Literally all of the textures we've seen so far are carbon-copies of what we already have with more blur on them, or textures that are magnitudes too busy to make any sort of sense or look good.

......That's literally my point. Are you unaware that you agree with me?

Honestly, whether these new textures are better or worse than they currently are for default really doesn't matter much at all. How many people actually still use default textures? Literally almost every texture pack ever released (on console) is better than default anyway, and java has access to (I'm assuming) hundreds of user-made texture packs that blow default out of the water completely.

For anyone on every platform other than the currently very crappy Win10/Pocket Edition: No, there is nothing new here. Hopefully this saves you time.

I'm frankly just mentally radiant that everyone stupid enough to continue supporting Sony after all the ludicrous things they've been a part of is getting shafted by this.
That'll learn ya.

Some things also take a lot more work and time to do. Colored beds are literally loading the texture for the default bed, throwing a color filter on it, and assigning it a different ID.
The fact it took Minecraft THIS LONG to do such a SIMPLE, QUICK TASK says a lot about how much they care about adding new stuff to the game. Their work speed is pathetic.

It took them this long to introduce colored beds?
This is ridiculous.

I would call that build "Sworld". It has a very swirly aesthetic.

I never said they did. I was commenting on the guy's mindset.

One of the things not too many people think about when it comes to these new crafting stations is whether or not they're for entirely new things, or if they're all going to be like the loom where it steals functionality from the crafting table. On one hand, more crafting tables is good because you can fill out dedicated crafting rooms a lot better and make them bigger while also retain being practical better than you ever could before. On the other hand, this means that you will not be able to access nearly as much stuff from the crafting table as you used to, which is a severe cut to speedy construction depending on what exactly gets shifted to new tables.

"We've added a bunch of decorative blocks!"
....Ok, how about a list?

Does anyone have a full list of the new things, that aren't worthlessly-worded like the patch notes?

You're literally complaining about two things that are both fixed by peaceful difficulty. I won't pretend to understand how anyone can enjoy survival without challenge, but that seems to be exactly what you want.

I meant for skipping the night cycle. Sometimes it's understandable for working on a build at night if you'd be turning your back on areas creepers could come from (nobody likes repairing builds).

I'm going to be honest. Minecraft is an absurdly easy game to not die in, even on "Hard". Whenever I used to do hardcore files (with the goal being to kill the dragon), the only time I ever died was when I was in the nether trying to get blaze rods to make the eyes of ender. Nothing in the overworld was even remotely a threat, even when I added another layer of difficulty by letting the day/night cycle move to midnight and then disabling it.
I do not need beds, and the only time I use them is when I'm first setting my spawn somewhere or someone else wants to. If I want to keep phantoms able to spawn on me (which I do, they're the game's coolest mob now), I'll just leave the server or pop into the nether while everyone else sleeps or does the same thing. It's really not that hard of a solution.
People in here are making a big show of complaining about Phantom difficulty. They literally can be batted away with your bare hand to prevent damage. Anyone with ANY videogame skill at all can do it consistently. You also will not have to deal with more than one phantom at a time for quite a while, as the number of phantoms that spawn at once above a player starts at 1 on day 5 and only goes up by 1 per extra night, up to 6 capped.
I don't even consider a six-pack of them a threat.

It's not like 90% of the achievements are even real achievements. I don't understand why anyone even pays attention to them.

I don't know what console you're playing on, but for Bedrock edition on Xbox you can just press Y to make the game craft your selection as many times as it can using one stack of material or until it creates one stacks' worth of an item. This means if you wanted to make 10 stacks of concrete powder, which takes 4 sand and 4 gravel plus one dye to make 8 blocks, you can press Y to make one stack of blocks at a time as long as you have the supplies.
This, however, can be dangerous if you're not careful. There have been at least 3 occasions where I've wanted to make a bunch of ladders, highlighted rails by accident because they look very similar, and then pressed Y and blown all of my iron on rails I don't need.

The story about the Super Duper Graphics pack is that it was revealed back in 2017, with an expected release date of either the end of 2017 or the very start of 2018 at the latest. Then it was discovered that in order to make the thing work, the entire graphics engine had to be completely redone from scratch, causing a major delay, in addition to the Update Aquatic pulling a significant amount of resources. It is understandable that the graphics pack hit a huge delay, but it is now approaching the fourth quarter of 2018, and we have not even received a whiff of news since. No updates, no tentative release dates, no acknowledgement that they're even working on it, nothing.
Now it's too little too late for Minecraft. More and more games are coming out to compete for our time and Minecraft's one saving grace to keep it competitive (for console players, anyway), the graphics pack, has all but hopelessly vanished.
I'm very disappointed, I never expected that Soul Calibur 6 and Smash Bros Ultimate would be beating Minecraft's Super Duper Graphics to launch. I was planning on having the new Minecraft Graphics revitalize my interest in playing Minecraft until the new games came out, not the other way around. This is just sad. It has been nearly A FULL YEAR past the original planned launch date.

Being able to spawn slimes (and phantoms?) using a size modifier. Bedrock does not support this and java has had it for....a decade?

Context is important. Someone asked me how I could consider the boats crappy, and I replied with all of the wasted potential.
0
Compared to literally any other modern game that has boats/ships, they are very crappy. They get the job done and that's it. However, they still only have two-seaters (it took an ungodly long amount of time to get past one-seaters), they're still just boxes with oars, and there's still only one functional kind of boat. I'll take 10 minutes here to throw out ideas they could do for boats. 10 minutes is all it takes to show how much wasted potential there is.
Boats made of obsidian or another substance for use in lava (hello netherboats).
Bigger boats that can seat 4 or more players and allowing them all to row for more speed (kayaks).
Sailboats in one and two-seater options that go much faster than manual rowing boats but with less turning capability.
Submarines that can seat one or two people, functions as an air source, and comes with one chest's worth of storage.
Jet-ski, which is the fastest and best-turning vessel but can only hold one player, and burns coal for fuel. Allows another player wearing waterski items (feet for water plus chest-parachute for sky) to be pulled behind them.
Better-looking versions of the boats we have now. I know this is Minecraft, but why are they still literally cubes?
Pirate ships with at least one functional fire-charge cannon, either craftable by players or used by NPC pirates, or slow battleships with multiple cannons.
An anchor certain kinds of boat could drop, that could create a light source after they land (since there is no need for traditional anchors) to help scout the ocean floor.

Like I said, it's definitely a good update, but they could have done so much more with it from a feature standpoint. I highly doubt we're ever going to get new water stuff after this update, which means we're likely always going to have these crappy boats and no meaningful water hostiles other than drowned, and guardians around the rare ocean monuments.
0
I'm honestly pretty disappointed with this update. Was it a much-needed and inexcusably-overdue update to the oceans? Yes. Did it add a lot of things? Not really.
Let's list everything it did add to the oceans.
Tropical fish (arguably the largest addition due to 2700 possible variants)
Dolphins
Cod and Salmon (which behave exactly the same way)
Pufferfish
Coral
Kelp
Sea Pickles
Swimming and new water physics
Ruins, underwater caves, and sunken ships (which can't be explored much at all without waterbreathing potions or respiration III, and even with respiration III you drown significantly faster than before)
Treasure maps (which are hugely innacurate)
Drowned
Tridents
Undead mobs and skeleton horses sinking in water
Conduits
Bubble columns
Turtles
That looks like a pretty big list, right? Well, have a look at what COULD have been added.
Literally any kind of hostile mob other than ANOTHER humanoid. Seriously, they have a MONUMENTAL array of ocean life to implement directly or pull inspiration from, and the best they can do is water-zombie? Are you actually kidding me? No sharks, whales, crabs, jellyfish, lantern-fish, eels, mantas/stingrays (which is sad considering they added the phantom which is basically a sky stingray, why not just make a water version?), clams, gators/crocs for swamps, and in terms of more passive mobs, they could have done catfish or other river mobs, seals for the arctic ice floes, and any kind of fantasy mob like krakens, plesiosaurs, or something new for bosses? We get ONE new hostile mob for the water in the specific water update? If you were going to be lazy like that, you could have at least made pirates or something instead, that would have at least been more interesting.
Oceans are not in any way deeper than they used to be except in the new underwater ravines. Why not?
Why is there no new boss mob for the oceans? Again, a kraken that can grab boats and players being like 1/500 squid spawns or something would be amazing. You could have also implemented a Man-O'-War had you done jellyfish, or a giant crab on the ocean floor. The possibilities are almost endless and they did nothing with it at all.
Why are there still no actual divesuit/fins/oxygen helmets?
Why have rivers and swamps gotten basically nothing? Why don't salmon seek out waterfalls to climb or otherwise try to raise their Y coordinate whenever possible?
Why do we still have the most pathetic boats, both in appearance and in features, in all of videogames? They're literally just a stupid-looking square wooden bucket with oars. The very least you could have done is redesigned them to look a little more aerodynamic. Where's the jet-ski? The sailboats? The bigger boats period? The submarines?
I'm sure I could come up with more, but you all get the gist. This update is absolutely an improvement to the game, but as usual, falls far short of what it could have been, and that's disappointing.
