The bugs have been squashed, don't report that bug, trust me minecraft developers are well aware of that problem, they had many people complain. So here is why the update didn't help and it seemed to hurt, because 14w26a&b corrupted data so if you play in any other version than the blocks wont show because 26a scrambled block ids. So when you updated you just saw the glitch, the harm had been done before you updated. The only reason I knew data had been corrupted was because during 26a I was MC editing an atventure map and it had trouble registering stone brick as a known block.
Wait, so I can't update anymore without messing my game up?
I guess I'll wait till 12w27a and hope it fixes the corruption! Thanks for the info

Some of you may have seen this before, but I figured I'd show it off again today.
Surprise! Halloween village!
I've been working on this off and on. I chose a desert because they're mostly flat, and I made the village mostly out of pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns.
The buildings aren't amazing, but I had fun building them. I know most people didn't like the pumpkin stalks last time, but I think they look good on the smaller houses.
This was the inspiration for the start of the village - it was the first "building" that I placed.
After that, I added paths (its orange and yellow, not pink and yellow, I promise), and added jack-o-lanterns for lighting and buildings for the villagers.
With 1.7.2, I added orange glasses panes instead of the regular glass panes.
A couple more pictures:
A view from the inside of one of the buildings:
Hope you enjoyed a quick walkthrough of my pumpkin/Halloween village!

They should know more about MCPE than we do, most of us are playing on the PC or XBOX.
Good Luck!

Try nether portals, with horses, with splash swiftness II potions.
Can't get much faster than that.

I can't stand the thought of losing everything in lava, I can't imagine losing my whole world, it must be quite the thrill though!

You waited 2 and a half years just to reply to the thread with that advice? Really? Why?

I don't think there are many people that can do this, there are just too many recipies for so many different items.
Personally, I don't think you'll have fun going without the wiki, I believe that is one of the reasons why Mojang included a built in guide for the Xbox version since they don't necessarily have easy acccess to the wiki. But I guess if you really want to try it out, then go for it, and let us know how it goes!
Oh, and I agree with Sqthreer, don't look up too many guides and inventions at first, it's always fun to be the "first" to discover an efficient mob trap, or a redstone invention. Although for advanced redstone mechanics, you really have no option but to use the wiki, IMO.

It has all the information you could ever need, actually it has more information than you'll ever need.
To answer your question, gold has half the durability of wood - so it's pretty much useless as a tool. Technically, it is a faster tool, but you'll need about 8 gold pickaxes to mine the same amount of blocks that you can mine with 1 iron pickaxe. It's mostly used for power rails (for quick movement on minecarts), clocks, golden apples, and enchanted golden apples.
Lapiz is for decoration, it's basically the source for the color blue in the game.
Gold weapons are useless as far as I know, they're even worse than wood. Just save up that gold for something else besides tools, armor, and weapons.

Might as well ask minecraft questions on the minecraft forum, it's what it's here for.
Besides, he didn't necessarily know what to look for unless he knew that it was some type of zombie. A vague google search might get you nowhere, while a vague forum topic will eventually be answered by people that already know what you're talking about.
Oh, and the best way to kill a baby zombie is to attack and walk backwards. They're so fast that you stand a much better chance of avoiding being hit by moving back. If you have Speed II then you can avoid getting hit even easier, although I still get hit by the little buggers even with Speed II, especially when they spawn in groups of 4.

What, you expect us to read your post before responding to it? Next you'll expect me to actually read the thread before posting
Seriously though, I guess you could slow down the horse with soul sand like Courtes said. Or use running water going in the opposite direction on top of soul sand, with signs to protect the string/tripwire. Or use slowness potions.
Or if you have silk touch on shears, you could use cobwebs and really slow down the test, although that may slow it down too much.

I don't like to waste iron on the hoes, and in the middle of a farm it's somewhat annoying to dig around for cobble, so I've made plenty of wooden pickaxes.
