is luck but I think if it have 4 dots like this :: at the end of it it give you good enchantment

It's actually just luck, the 4 dots stand for the letter "R".

Here's the explanation for the enchantments, in case anyone was curious:

I love gold just for that. For Fireworks.

I use diamonds for everything, except snow. I always use stone tools for shoveling snow, they don't even need enchantments and they're just as fast as diamond.

Occasionally I use iron for netherrack, but I use enchanted iron. I think Efficiency III with iron is enough for instant mining?

The bugs have been squashed, don't report that bug, trust me minecraft developers are well aware of that problem, they had many people complain. So here is why the update didn't help and it seemed to hurt, because 14w26a&b corrupted data so if you play in any other version than the blocks wont show because 26a scrambled block ids. So when you updated you just saw the glitch, the harm had been done before you updated. The only reason I knew data had been corrupted was because during 26a I was MC editing an atventure map and it had trouble registering stone brick as a known block.

Wait, so I can't update anymore without messing my game up?

    :(

I guess I'll wait till 12w27a and hope it fixes the corruption! Thanks for the info :)

Yes, there were other id mixups and world generation errors that plagued this snapshot (and 14w26b) but are now fixed in 14w26c

I actually downloaded 12w26c because of your post, hoping the bugs would be squashed. This is what I got:

The netherrack, its gone. All of it! Guess I have a small bug to report :o

posted a message on Natural Lava and Sand Trap!
Well, I've officially found my first lava/sand trap in survival.

Basically, I need a boat, so I put down a crafting table so I could build one. As soon as I put it down, the sand fell down into a lava pool!

For those who've never seen this happen before, basically surface sand can spawn with nothing below to support it. If any block or torch is placed near the sand (or if a creeper explodes nearby), the surface sand will fall into the hole below it. That hole can be a cave, a lake, or a lava pool! Maybe it can be a ravine too, which could cause you to take tons of fall damage or drop you into a lavafall.

In any event, I had a fire resistance potion on my hotbar, but it was a pretty close call. So watch out when you place a crafting table, torch, or block in the desert, it just might be the last block you place...

I have managed to build a 5 story diamond mansion. It took me like, 9 months. (jk, haven't had minecraft that long.) It really took me 2. I dedicated all my spare time to building it. What did you guys build?

    I built a quadruple beacon!

It's not as cool as your diamond mansion though, wish we could see it :/

posted a message on What is the most efficient way to repair items?
In the snapshots (1.8), I think it's better to use a brand new tool to combine with an almost broken item, rather than use individual diamonds to repair it.

For example, it takes 13 levels of experience and 3 diamonds to repair it 90%:

But with 12 levels and an unenchanted tool that costs 3 diamonds, the tool is repaired 100%:

Conclusion? Don's use diamonds to repair tools that are almost gone, use unenchanted diamond tools! You'll save levels and diamonds.

If your tool is only like half broken, then you should definitely use diamonds instead of full tools (or just wait until it's almost broken, I'm pretty sure the game gives you a broken sound warning just before the tool breaks)

posted a message on trying to keep endermen out of wool farm
    Quote from Maximz

I FIGURED IT OUT! yes im amazing! >_< lol

basically fence, nether fence, rinse repeat on the ceiling infront of the area you would drop down this allows you to move inbetween the spacing of the fences while taking up a block worth of space. and then lowering the ceiling by 1 and using half slabs

    Nice!

You could also try flattening the whole area. I'm pretty sure endermen can't pick up blocks beneath them, only block that are at least one block up.

For instance, Endermen that walk along the path can't grab any of the blocks in the area. Endermen that are in with the sheep can only grab the blocks along the main path, but not the grass blocks on the sheep level.

I'm getting a bit tired of waiting here... I know plenty of mods/mod coders that add features waaay faster to their things, and they don't even get paid. And some of them work alone. In their spare time..

Well, now that minecraft 1.0 came out, I wouldn't complain. We all paid for that version of the game - anything else is just gravy.

If Mojang keeps pumping out updates, I'm happy, but I don't really expect them to add anything else. (Except for bug fixes - those could use a little boost!)

posted a message on Slime Farming
I think that to increase slimes spawn rates you have to decrease the other hostile mobs spawn rates. Which means, you'll need thousands of torches to light up the surface and all the caves around you.

Might I suggest that you try hunting them in swamps on a full moon? No, it's not myth, they spawn more when the moon is full, and spawn less as the moon gets "smaller". Use a looting sword, and you'll get dozens of slime balls per night. It's kinda annoying to keep track of the moon every 10 minutes, but I've hunted 3x so far in my world and got about 64 slime balls each time.

posted a message on Looking for a minecraft server
    Hi.

Servers cost money (unless you set up your own). There aren't many people that would set up and maintain a server for you for free.

However, there is a way to get a free server, let me see if I can find the thread.

    (Edit) - I found it! http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1622208-enteis-guide-to-sponsorships-and-free-servers/

Not sure how well it works, but there it is. Good Luck.

    NAH
    LET'S ADD STUPID SECRET CRAP
AND WORK ON THE UGLY VILLAGERS TO MAKE THEM DO SOMETHING THAT CAUSES MORE LAG
Jeb is an idiot and should have never been put in charge of minecraft.

Yep, totally right, they didn't fix ANY bugs, that bug fix list is just a big lie from Mojang.

Back on topic, did anyone lose all their cooked fish and salmon? Mine disappeared completely from my chests. Not a big deal, just kinda annoying.

posted a message on How much do you PWN hostile mobs?
I killed 4 endermen at the same time (not at an enderman farm, these guys had full health), wearing iron armor with just protection I enchantments.

Of course, I had a diamond sword with sharpness V and 4 beacons going on at the time, but hey, I still fought 4 of them at once!

    Thanks guys!

I think I'll keep expanding the village, and try to fill in the building themselves with something. I'll probably use acacia wood planks since they are the closest color to orange, and make some furniture for the buildings.
