    Edit - Noticed a missing stair. Going to place and verify.

    And I'm an idiot that can't count blocks. Stone bricks and redstone worked.

    I cannot seem to get a crafting altar to function in the latest version, and having checked several times against the Compendium, I am left scratching my head.

    The following screenshots were taken from opposite corners of the structure. Currently it is made of dark oak, though ordinary oak was also attempted.

    My thing with BTW isn't the renewables. I do, in fact, play BTW at times. My "issue" with it is more that I disagree with FC's view that people should be forced to play his mod in only the way his vision holds, as well as the vision that Minecraft should be more of a "game" and less of a sandbox. Many of the changes have made it so that, if I lose my existing world, I will likely never play it again - I simply think that making a game start out in pure tedium and frustration is not my cup of tea.

    But none of that has to do with Ex Nihilo.

    So, here's a skyblock question for people - Aside from the End (Not feeling like smacking a dragon) or Ex Nihilo creepy dolls, what's a relatively good way to get more ender pearls? Simply an unlit platform-chamber with water sheathing around it and the 2-high path up to it?

    By bonemealing grass blocks you'll get tall grass and flowers. And to get grass blocks, of course, you can get grass seeds via sifting (using Ex Nihilo).


    Now, as for relying on bees to get shards - I don't use forestry. In fact, I prefer to not use any of the "advanced" tech mods. Cogs of the Machine was brilliant for the way I prefer to play, Likewise, Better than Wolves would be ideal, were it not for the rift between Flower Child and the Forge team as well as his vision of how to make Minecraft a "proper game."

    Back with Cogs, I had a TC3 golem/Cogs ore processing facility that I could watch endlessly - Brass gears spinning, massive hammers crushing, smelters melting it all down, and golems moving and collecting.

    For research purposes, you'll likely have to resort to a bit of aspect mixing, though you can find it on ethereal essences and the beacon.

    If you need it in essentia form: wispy essences and mana beans will be your best bet.

    Unfortunately, I have never seen any infused stone or primal shards from the pechs.

    I should, perhaps, rephrase the way I said that - Eerie biomes spread from sinister nodes. If you're using a skyblock map/save, and you have Thaumcraft retrogen nodes, then you'll have some around. In standard worldgen you most often find them inside the obsidian totems/barrow mounds/wisp spawners, but they do also appear free-floating (much like there are pure free-floating nodes outside of silverwood.)

    Edit: My "thaumaturgical workings" (AKA Miracle working) was my attempt to say "explore and research".

    While not the place for discussing the merits of Better Storage, I will simply say this - I have never understood the desire for perfect safety in multiplayer games. Options to make things more safe, ways of defending, sure, but perfect safety boggles my mind. Then again, I did play an amusingly effective thief/assassin in UO before the Carebear stare of the Felucca/Trammel split occurred.

    exelsisxax - Glad you got that figured out. I had just put together a setup like you described yours as to test, and it had worked (I didn't have decorative pedestals, of course) so I was going to suggest trying to build another one in a different location.

    In my base, the closest decorative pedestal I have is a good 15 blocks away from the edge of the infusion altar array.

    If it takes "a lot of work" to make a single-use node, then there is no point to it - A well made mob farm (which in skyblock can be perfectly efficient) will charge your wand with much less effort. Why would I bother collecting every aspect (50 of them, IIRC) when I can simply punch a stack of mobs and get a full wand?


    4. Reason I say this is because of Witch Water.

    Oh, I understood why you thought mycelium should have it, I just disagree - Mycelium isn't witch water, however.


    5. I guess, I however do no agree with the saplings being crucible recipes.

    I prefer the idea of doing thaumaturgy to create magical plants to sifting more stacks of dirt for the chance at winning the silverwood lottery.

    Technically speaking, it is already possible to get ahold of silverwood saplings - Pechs spawn (in low-light conditions) in magical biomes - This includes eerie biomes, which can be made via thaumaturgical workings.

    Also Idea for Mod Crossover stuff:
    Thaumcraft:
    Nodic Generator - It would produce a Node on top of it if you can provide it with 1 of Every Essentia.
    Vintium Generator - It would produce Taint Globs for Witch Water.
    Witch Water has the Taint Aspect.

    Under no circumstances should nodes be produced via essentia - They are pure vis, with no physical aspect to them unless destroyed. There is a very distinct difference between the various "forms" of magic in Thaumcraft.

    Witch water having some vitium and alienis makes a bit of sense, given its uses.


    Mycelium has the Taint Aspect.

    Absolutely not. Mycelium has aspects already, being a vanilla block addressed by Thaumcraft itself.


    Thaumcraft Shards from Sand.
    Silverwood Tree Seeds.
    Greatwood Tree Seeds.

    I still stand by my suggestion of using the Thaumcraft crucible itself to produce shards, rather than (yet more) sifting.
    The saplings could, likewise, be crucible recipes.

    Better Storage has a variety of options to make things relatively safe, via locks and keys, while still having some element of vulnerability (lockpicking). It also has thaumic versions of chests and backpacks.
    Vanilla, of course, has the ender chest (not to be confused with the ender storage version.)
    Ars magica 2 has a summonable "rift" storage that is personal and thus safe.
    And, of course, the tech mods have various options for secure storage.

    Once I fill up enough chests with cobble, I start smelting stacks into stone. Then once I've got enough stone to match my cobble, I continue on to mass producing a stockpile of stone brick. Because I might need them.
    I also usually set up a cobblegen, just to make sure I have a ready supply at any given moment.

    The reason I asked about the wooden barrel of water is this: The latest update added a way to get moss to grow and spread, which (among other things) requires a wooden barrel with water. The possibility that occurred to me was that the light level at that block might've been correct, and the snow pile itself might have been providing protection from the weather.

    (ore) gravel, (ore) sand and (ore) dust - in block forms - are all smeltable into an appropriate ingot in a furnace.
