Just type bloodbath.hakaslak.com into the minecraft multiplayer box and connect Nils.
Yes, mobs are only temporarily disabled until we can figure out a way to disable their spawns issues.
With 50 players near each other, the game was spawning roughly 4000 monsters. This was causing some serious issues with connections for one reason or another, and the server software would simply stop sending information for a couple of seconds, causing lag spikes. Right now, we're running smoother than a babies bottom. Come see for yourself!

Dec 30, 2010We've found and banned two hackers, so your experience should be somewhat more pleasant now. The mobs were disabled because with roughly 50 people on, we were spawning around 4000 monsters, and it was destroying the server load. We're happily running at 40+ now without a single hiccup. Enjoy the lag free PvP! (And when I say lag free, I mean flawless)Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
For those of you that don't frequent our forums (http://www.hakaslak.com) we have discontinued the idea of a member-only bank! We always will listen to the community on matters like this, and we appreciate the feedback. Rest assured, your valuables will stay at risk indefinitely!
Members will recieve /home initially. This will include a 10 second delay on casting that will cancel the process upon taking damage. When I heard the outcry against some of the perks, we sat down, and really looked and what we can do. Eventually, we figured out a way to implement /home, and I talked to Os about it, who, for those of you who don't know, is our dedicated plugin programmer who is working very hard to bring you the very best experience. Hopefully you guys enjoy these changes as much as we think you will. You can thank Os (or any of us, really) on our forums, because he does a lot of work without being paid for any of it. He's definitely a driving force behind this community, even if he IS a bit quiet. <3
Finally, to the people who felt the pain of a rollback, all I can say is that this is a fairly new server, and while we're quite proficient at what we do, issues are bound to arise as we get what the community wants working. Sometimes a snowball turns into an avalanche on a server that got this popular this quickly, and issues appear almost out of nowhere. We'll strive to make this an even more stable environment for you to play in as we move forward. Currently it looks like there are huge issues that would cause a rollback. We've identified the main source of server pressure, and everyone should be enjoying quicker saves and nearly zero downtime.
Keep those kills rolling!

can you maybe introduce the pi controler block i know you want only less mods but that helps to build traps secrets and
We're keeping this as close to a true Survival mode as possible. Sorry! = (
Dec 27, 2010Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)Quote from Razzy »shittiest server ever. spent three hours making my base, gathered some diamonds, then the douche admin decides to set borderlands. It tps me to the spawn with all my items on me, so I try heading back to my base. Guess what! My base is outside of the borders! Yayyy! I ***** at the faggot admins, then they ban me for it. In otherwords, dont ****in play this shitty server.
The reason you were banned was because of this type of language and attitude. The reason we set borderlands is because people started just walking in a direction, and with 30+ people generating terrain for the sake of generating terrain, the server became stressed from the load. We did this so everyone has an enjoyable experience while playing.
The base you say was outside of the borders wasn't, it has a 2k block radius. I teleported to you and you were sitting in a cave telling me you were at the end of the border, when you definitely weren't. You clearly were just trying to start trouble.
Again, if you're anything like this person, please pass our server up. We enjoy mature players!

It looks like a really great server. I am really excited for it. What is a general timeframe for it to be up and running for everyone?
You can log into Yggdrasil and build, that's the test architecture server.
Dec 25, 2010Wow, we honestly did not expect the amount of people to sign on that did. We've currently disabled health and mobs for a few hours to upgrade to a much more powerful server for everyone to play on and have fun. The server is currently still running, so feel free to build a base and mine while you wait! It should be lag free at the moment.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
You can also visit our community site at http://www.hakaslak.com if you're interested in other projects we're running. We have a rather active community, and we'd love to see you guys there! You can hear about the flagship server concept we're currently planning, called Protogenoi. This is a RPG faction based PvP system for those that are interested. Either way, I'd love to see some new posts and new friends.
Dec 25, 2010Yeah, like we said, it's still in beta while we test a few things, so the 100% lag-less experience isn't going to be there until after Sunday. That being said, it only pops up while we're actively testing so it wont be lagging all day long.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
Dec 25, 2010Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)Quote from Caziban »I've played on Morfus' server that didn't have ANY mods. Please, follow his path. Don't add mods. He's already created a successful PvP world and I can tell you, no one camps the spawn. (He did have to place torches and bedrock just so it would encourage players to mine outside of the spawn and they didn't get owned by mobs when they spawned at night.) The whole objective in PvP is to build your base, by either joining with other players, or to search and raid others. Obviously, there's nothing of a value at the spawn so spawn-killing people isn't even in the least bit "fun" Smart people will build hundreds of blocks away, in the vast unknown, so they can set up there. On Morfus' server, I did that and so did 3 other people.
Believe me, if you want an awesome PvP server, keep it clean. Don't add mods.
Thanks for the input. The only two mods we use go along with your style of thinking anyways. We just make sure spawn killing isn't allowed with cuboid, and the only other one tells everyone who died and how, which is always fun.
I look forward to seeing you online if that still interests you!
Dec 25, 2010Bloodbath is a survival PvP server from Hakaslak.com that focuses 100% on PvP and PvP only. You are forced to fight to survive against every other player on the server. Bloodbath is currently in Beta stages as we test interest in a server based purely off PvP. Let us know what you think after playing in this thread or at hakaslak.com. We currently run a nearly Vanilla server at the moment because of the new changes to addons in Beta. We use cuboid to safeguard the starting zone and DeathAlert to let everyone see those awesome kills.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
PlayerA dies to PlayerB's fists? Yes please.

At Hakaslak.com, we understand what makes a Minecraft server run well. Currently, the code that Notch writes is pretty unoptimized, and because of that, we get really high amounts of data being sent between the server and any given player. For an example of how large the amount of data is, every Xbox Live game has to be rated at 8kB/s or below in order to be certified. Minecraft sends an average of 150kB/s per player.
With that in mind, we have a huge line dedicated to this server. If you're interested in something like this, we encourage you to play as much as you can until Sunday, where we'll be looking at how many people are really interested in a server like this!
Have fun killing each other, and show your support for a pure PvP based server and tell your friends!
