posted a message on Can we get a release date on this? Would be helpful...

Honestly, given their slow release times, just expect it before January 2021

I thank you for the acknowledgement, sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

What in particular has blown you away this week?

I know this post is now two pages back, but I've got to reply.

First, I'm loving the black stones. Back when I was still in the service, I built a custom map for a bunch of my buddies that went overseas. One of the regions was called "Black Hills" and we simply had to "imagine" the black in the hills. NOW I can go back and rebuild that region with actual black stone. Secondly, I love the Quartz bricks. More bricks is always a welcome addition in my book. Thirdly, all the black bricks, stairs, etc... will go perfectly for an evil fortress I've wanted to build for almost a decade. Going along with that, as a map builder, using the Basalt biome in the overworld COMBINED with the evil fortress, I can create a dark, ashy nightmareesque environment and it will be fantastic.

Lodestones and striders are very worthy additions! Lodestones in particular are something I've wanted in the game forever. And of course people have wanted some way to travel on lava for years.

I feel somewhat vindicated. While these additions aren't as meaty as a new biome or the like, they definitely were not so much as hinted at before now. I knew the update couldn't be virtually finished so early!

Yeah, it's definitely more than I expected. I gotta be honest though, that Strider is ugly as sin. I am interested in what kind of cosmetic uses the Lodestone has as I dont use the compass a whole lot.

And I agree with what has been said-- the shroomlight needs to get the axe. It's a glowstone clone, unless it becomes a pathway to colored lights for some reason. Speaking of which, I was hoping we'd see more glowstone structures or something. I occasionally think of them as ghast eggs or something.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and basalt is really ugly.

Unfortunately Mojang has already stated multiple times that colored light "will never happen" DESPITE this already existing in multiple mods.

Things aren't looking too great, a snapshot today that fixed a single bug. This is looking like same old Mojang right now. Nearly 30 full time devs for Java and we get a single bug fix.

I have to conclude that there is more stuff coming.

Please don't take this as an attack, but you've said that before for previous updates as well. Mojang has proven historically that the first snapshot has the bulk of the content, the second snapshot has 'A' feature or two, and the rest are bug fixes. IF by some miracle they release something new in the next four months (which is my estimate for how long it will seemingly take them) then I will admit I was wrong and be absolutely shocked.

Is anyone else feeling a little cheated by Mojang on this one. Don't get me wrong, it's a great update, but they basically showed us everything in the update half a year ago. They said there would be more biomes and more content, but then the devs came out on twitter and told us "nope, this is it." What have they honestly been doing for half a year AND why is it going to take another six months for this update to get released?

they haven’t announced everything in 1.16 yet. Also, 1.14 was horrible performance wise. If it takes a few months to improve that, then so be it. A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad, like the old saying goes.

there are other things you can do in the mean time anyways. Try out some mods, theres some pretty good ones out there. Alot of them have feature bloat and power creep, which i feel you’d be a fan of.

True, 1.14 was terrible performance wise. Instead of calling it 1.15, call it 1.14.5 if all they are doing is fixing 1.14's problems and adding a single mob.

I gotta admit, I am incredibly disappointed about 1.15. They are saying they "hope it will be ready by the end of the year." I mean, seriously? They've done next to nothing aside from bug fixes and it's going to take them ANOTHER three months before they release? As for 1.16, I'm glad they are adding some more to the Nether, but in reality its not a MASSIVE expansion and yet again, they expect it to take them a year?

For Pete sake, there are 25 full-time developers according to Mojang's photo and they are hiring a 26th. HOW does it take 25 people this long to add that little? This update is incredibly disappointing.

Can we stick a fork in this and call it done? There's been no news in over a year, I would say she is dead Jim.

Looks like we're going to be voting on updating more biomes before the other two from last year are gotten to, that's unexpected.

Who'd vote for a mega-rare biome like Badlands? I'm not sure which of the other two to pick... Swamps are extremely dull, but I spend much more time in mountains, and they could use some love too.

This is actually incredibly frustrating. With a team of 25 now, they should have been able to push out the other biome updates by now, but instead we are down to 1 single update per year and those other biomes are being ignored. Everyone is all mad at Microsoft, I'm mad at them for not really bringing down the hammer on these devs for how slow they are.

I'm a little concerned about the lack of progress over the last three weeks. The introduction of a single mob was nice for a first snapshot, but given that they are only doing a single update a year now, I was expecting a bit more by now. I'm hoping there is some massive announcement come Minecon, but it seems to me that their team has been dragging their feet.

I think the adults should be the size of the babies, that size seems appropriate.
