Exactly why it hasn't been implemented. Perhaps we always allow packs, but in Browse, we add in a checkbox for OFFICIAL packs which will be selected by default. I think this will clean up the site quite a bit.

Comparable to Deviantart, where when your browsing pictures, the search ignores the 'Scraps' catagory unless you specifically want to.
So making it only go through Official and/or highly rated non-official packs by default (with the option to search all uploaded packs) would be most excellent :smile.gif:
Ehh... you should make it so you must approve the textures before they are shown on the site. Half of them a shitty paintery packs.
I like the idea, but i think their will be lots of problems with that (lack of staff/mods to approve of packs mainly), their will be lots of packs being uploaded. It would likely be easier on moderators/staff to have to wait for alert visitors to report a pack, this would slim down the # of packs they need to go through by alot.
Also, i have not tried out the report button yet, but it would be nice if it was very very simple, basically just a 4-5 opition check box with optional comments, to encourage people to not be lazy when they notice somethign that should be reported.
and to go with that, it may be a good idea to make it more apparent that users should be reporting clones and such.
Also, I'm really getting back into textureing!!! :biggrin.gif: now that i dont have to do big updates or complete alternate pngs i can just keep making alt textures till I'm worn out :smile.gif:
Im having that problem of the download only containing 3 txt files on my texture pack :/ i tried a different browser, checked if i was up to date and it didnt work.
I even downloaded someone elses pack and it worked fine, tried mine again and it still did not work.
Though I must ask, how does one change the order (and default selected) textures?
I'm very OCD about these kinds of things.

Well i found out fairly quickly that i could manually rearrange which texture was selected by default by dragging them (like when deleting textures) into the order i want them. Works beautifully!
Just got an idea: favorited packs are subscribed to, and their new and updated textures appear on the front page in a facebook newsfeed style.

Also another Suggestion:
Some way for pack creators to let people choose a certain theme of their pack (which would by default have several different textures than the other ones) before they customize it. Such as having a pack that has seasonal variations(ala quandary), i could choose the Autumn theme, then customize from their.
That is something that i would be able to use on my pack, and i think others would find it very nice also(infact, i think this was one of doku's concerns, and i think this would clear that up)

Its basically a texture pack site that allows you to create a painterly style customizer for your pack :smile.gif: (like providing alternate textures and themes). And with a pack concept like this, you could add dozens if not hundreds of alternate textures! Their are probibly several versions of everything from some of these old nes games :smile.gif:
BTW, saw what you put as the map texture, Genius :biggrin.gif: Is there a plain LOZ pack out there? and if not, could you make one :smile.gif:

Mostly done. Right now we just have to manually select which ones are 'Official'. Also, any texture you try to upload that matches one in an Official pack will not be uploaded.

What about official remixes? Thinking of Quandary/Coterie (or even Doku/gerudoku/jadoku) specifically. Some of the textures are going to be the same, And what if either of the parties decide to use some of the other's textures?(with permission)
I was wondering if you would be interested in making it possible for the user to decide (while in the customize tab) whether or not they have to select each individual wool texture, or if they could just pick the wools from a single pack, that way if they want to change all the wool from one pack to another (or from one pack option to a provided alternate) they do not have to choose all 16 wools individually.
Adding a way to verify whether a pack is the official version and not one of the dozens of 'painterly' remixes. that way when you visit the page their could be a water mark placed by a moderator indicating this is the original/official.
Don't you think it would be better to approach Frenden 1on1 via Private Message about this?
well i first tried that with extranoiz but i havent gotten a reply back, since then i have just been asking on the texture pack pages. I got doku to respond that way. and anyways, frenden seems like he keeps up on his texture pack forum pages.

As a matter of preference, no. It gets busy visually quickly. I did try it though.

Ex: Building a custom xaiwaker pack and also using textures from Frenden's and Mangocraft to make their own 'perfect' pack.
Think about it man... (or dont and just do it :biggrin.gif: )
It's very easy to use also, and the site is in it's early stages so it will be more optomized soon
