Took me one day to build and then the rest of the week to debug (Including classes and other random activities).
I'm taking a computer organization class and this was my way of testing my knowledge. I just built it on impulse and it is definitely not optimized.
When you put in the right combination and press enter, it opens the door and then plays the original LoZ secret tune.
I still have yet to make a video for it...
I also tried to make an automatic minecart station but since it was on a server people kept messing up the minecarts...
Okay... This is really easy ... Do you have the minecraft app on your MAC... Have you played it?
Assuming that both of those answers were "Yes" let's get started...
1) Go to: /Users/**UserName**/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin
2) Find file "Minecraft.jar"
3) Copy to new location (create a folder on the desktop and name it minecraft).
4) Rename copy to "Minecraft.jar.zip"
5) Unzip.
6) Look at all the textures.
If you organize the folder by type, you get the folders on top (most contain other textures), .class files in the middle, and other textures at the bottom (.png files).
The file you are looking for is called "terrain.png"
I was being shot by Ghasts while I was trying to take these pictures. I only had a fishing rod when I started. Now I have 10 blocks of Red Mossy Cobblestone.
I think he has it so that the textures have an overlay (I was using a high res texture and i saw two sections of trees and grass, one area being dark and the other being a lush green.)
And if you look at the textures, the leaf block is in gray scale.
I had an idea like this yesterday but didn't feel like posting it. Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking that the "Oceans" in MC are pathetic.
I just finished an underwater project and most of the ideas suggested here would have helped. It gets way too dark too soon underwater.
Maybe we could have a new type of armor, one specifically for going under water.
How about a helmet made of glass, for extra air?

Underwater torches... I dont know of a crafting recipe but I know if you build a structure like this:

it will stay underwater. but it gives such little light...
I really hope Notch makes the oceans a lot larger... I want them to be like the way the land is but upside down and in the water, with random mountains and really deep holes that go to cave structures. Not just sand or dirt at the bottom, but rock and life (seaweed and sponges sound good).

Instead of making a new world folder, rename DIM-1 to the new world# and then start it.

If it looks like gravel, then it's gravel.

I'm still looking for the Portal block texture...

Anyone know where the texture for the portal block is?
Edit: second image wasn't necessary.

I was thinking about remaking the room with this painting from Super Mario 64 and that will be my portal to Hell (or Lethal Lava Land).
