do you know how much work and effort he is putting into this? once hes done with this update - a few bugfixes the game will go out of beta and be finished.
This isn't the last update before release. He is doing another big update. It might have Nether content, of the sky dimension or something. He mentioned it vaguely in his PAX livestream... -

You can still use any old maps in 1.8. "Adventure" is just the name given to the update because of its huge scale, and a way to separate it from Creative mode. -

Nope, look closely. That sand block is just 1 block higher, and closer than the ones behind it. Its not a new feature. (The dimensions and angles don't fit the "held in left hand" idea) -

Good god. That interview tells me one thing: Notch has lost sight of what he tried to create in the first place. Minecraft by his own admission was meant to be a Sandbox, with tools for creation. Adding bosses, and adding a way of "winning" makes it no longer a Sandbox, but instead a game. All this roleplaying crap he's adding is another example of it. I knew he'd cave in to money eventually, but I didn't think it would happen until it was at least no longer in Beta. What a waste. Stop trying to make this game into something it's not you dumbass. You created a beautiful game, with enormous possibilities, and you're now trying to make it into something it was never meant to be, by your own intended and stated goals in the beginning. It will destroy your creation, and you'll regret it long term.
Oh really? Since when is having more options to do considered ruining the game. Is there an endgame? No. Beating a boss isn't winning, its just a challenge for the minecrafters who have mastered the art of killing the current hostile mobs. Your logic basically says adding enemies to the game ruins it. Don't like the roleplaying? Your opinion. You're saying that a game with minor roleplaying features cannot be a sandbox. It's still Minecraft. You'll still be able to build whatever the HECK YOU WANT. you'll still be able to explore. And about you saying Notch is going against his original plan for Minecraft: he's making it into more than it was before. Theres gonna be no less creativity in the mix, only more to do. I can't say I agree with everything Notch is doing. Nor does everybody else. Were beta testers. We give notch feedback. If too many people don't like Permadeath, for example, he'll almost definatly remove it. I'm no crazy fanboy. I'm just using some logic. -

He's also adding a separate classic minecraft for the game, with no dying, infinitte blocks and all that..

IDK, it only happened after 1.4, and really the second i got the update it started happening every time i went to bed. the lighting isnt the problem.
