posted a message on Notch Announcing Mod Support
There are probably going to be almost thousands of these threads tomorrow, er- later today. But I'd just like to show those people who don't check Notch's blog every other hour this:

"Oh, and the modding support is happening, honest." -Notch

It comes directly from his blog. It's in the most recent post (at least when I posted this) if you'd like to see it yourself.

A triumph for all of the modders of Minecraft.

Brought you to by Notch first, but then,

posted a message on No more META-INF
I don't know if others have seen this, but I recently realized that the Minecraft.jar doesn't come with a META-INF folder anymore. I'm not too sure what that means for modding minecraft, but I have a feeling it's a step in the right direction for modding.

EDIT: It may have been that I already deleted it, sorry. I'll try repatching and seeing. I apologize for the false alarm.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to use 2 buttons on both top and bottom, but I guess if I have to I will.

posted a message on "If" in Redstone
Hello Minecraft Forums, I've just come back to playing Minecraft after learning multiple programming languages (Java, C#, a little bit of Ruby) and I thought I'd give redstone another shot. I downloaded the Better Than Wolves mod and I became determined to create a lift using the pulley system. I got most if it done, but then I realized, how do I get it down when it's up top, or the other way around. Since I've been programming for the last couple of months I immediately went to an 'if' statement. Then it hit me, I have no idea how I would make an if statement using redstone.

Now that the needed knowledge (that isn't really too needed) is out of the way, it's time to ask a question! How might I make something in redstone that sends a signal one way if the output is on, and sends a signal another way if the output is off?

    Thank you.

I like this idea a lot, but I have an idea, build it over ice, so when the items pass over the ice in the water they go faster.

To explain: When items are above ice in water and a current they move 'holy-%*($-fast'.

posted a message on Best software to make a texture pack with
To my knowledge for editing pretty much anything, Photoshop is the industry standard.

Now from personal experience: I used paint.net before getting Adobe CS5 and that worked fine for making texture packs. I liked it because it was really quite user friendly, which allowed me to learn it quickly. Gimp and Photoshop are pretty comparable, it's just that Photoshop is a little more powerful, and a little easier to learn.

Also, for making noise there's a noise filter in Photoshop, Gimp, and Paint.net.

FrigginSandvich is correct about the water and lava, it's a pain, but in the end it looks AWESOME.

About ideas, maybe you could make grass swarms of larvae?

The game doesn't recognize decimals, so it just made a random map. Sorry.

posted a message on [REQ][IDEA] SSP slime disable/SMP client-side slime fix
I like your idea, although wouldn't it just be much more useful to make a mod that FIXES slime spawn all together? Making it so slimes spawn where and when they should.

I can do art, just not 16 bit art, and I want to learn some tricks that may make it look better.

posted a message on Texture pack tips?
Well, lets start it off right away, I don't mean to complain, but whenever I start a texture pack, it just looks TERRIBLE. This thread is about experienced 16-bit artists sharing their tricks to make their texture packs amazing. Although this is my request, I'm sure it will help others in the future. Finally, please no spamming or flaming about how you think I'm stupid or anything else.

    Tips and Tricks:
1: Make noise in the block

2: Use examples from pictures to base yours off of

1: People have the right to say whatever they want, to whoever they want.

2: You spamming a $*#)load of icons is really quite childish and annoying.

    3: You're a hypocrite.

4: Most old tutorials should still work fine.
