posted a message on Stop hating on updates in a game with unlimited options!

If people don't like something, they can remove if they want. They're not stuck with it. that's the great thing about Minecraft.

    BUTTT
I HATE WOOD SOOO MUch in THIS GAME
    WHY NEED WOOD IN EVERYTHING?
    U SO WRONG
    JEB SUCKZZZZ
OT: I really hate it when people complain about the game although I've also always liked every single update besides the changing of the texture of the foods.

Technically Most of the Things in Minecraft are Optional.
    Don't like enchanting? don't Enchant.
    Hate Brewing? don't Brew
Despise the XP System? Ignore it.
Sadly Most of the Ranters, are ignorant of the fact that about 99.9% of the things in Minecraft are optional.
well.. except for hunger... but that's why we have mods right?
and there's those ranters about the horrible terrain.

Also, if anyone has any knowledge, they can actually set their gamerule in order to turn hunger off but still have monsters on. Very useful for a few of my friends who hate hunger.

posted a message on What's your current stance of the Beacon? How to improve it?
    Quote from Cubia

....because most people dont have a super-tiny mine that fits within the effective box of the beacon. Strip-mining and properly searching for the rarer ores like diamond and whatnot generally uses a very LARGE area. Hell, some mines I've seen in some players' worlds are downright enormous. Even mine are way, way too big to have the beacon have any effect on them, and my mines are SMALL compared to most, since I have no patience and prefer cave diving.

If the beacon's box was (alot) bigger? Then yes, that buff would be pretty darn neat. Again though.... simply not enough range. Not even close. And nobody wants to have to pick up and MOVE the silly thing over and over, which is the only way to use it in a large area. PARTICULARLY if you're digging really deep, as the thing must always have open sky over it, or it wont work.

And the time it takes to properly set up the thing in each spot, is time I could be using to simply mine more ores.

Until the beacon has a much, much, MUCH larger range of effect..... it's still pretty much useless. There's still not even one thing it does that cant be done better (and much more efficiently) by something else. And the sad part? Added range is ALL it needs. If the thing had such a range that it worked and gave you the buff if it was in a currently loaded chunk, THAT would make more sense for the extreme price of the thing. And would also make it's exploration-heavy buffs make more sense.

THAT much iron could instead be used on cart tracks; they'll sure as heck get you places MUCH faster, something the beacon cannot do. Could make quite a massive cart network for that, speeding up lots of things. Whereas the beacon only speeds up it's tiny box of effect.

If I used my iron to get rails I would've ran out a long time ago, in my opinion rails are best to get from abandoned mineshafts.
OT: I feel the beacon simply needs to be instead of a cube, a cylindrical area, slightly bigger than now and also make it so the height is all the way to the height limit and vice versa.

posted a message on Nether Reactor?
Just imagine the easy griefing if this was in regular minecraft, this makes a giant obsidian room and it can be put anywhere, all they need is 36 gold and 4 cobblestone.
EDIT: It actually needs 3 diamonds and 6 iron ingots as well

posted a message on Nether Reactor?
The Nether Reactor Core is easily the weirdest block added to Minecraft yet. I've always loved everything added to Minecraft but this seems really, really weird. I'm glad it's only a pocket version exclusive.
Here's the link on the wiki:
    http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Nether_Reactor_Core

Anyway, discuss your thoughts on the block.

posted a message on The Wither, what is the reward?
    Quote from InfiniteTurbine

Forget hundreds, it is THOUSANDS of iron, gold, diamonds, or emeralds. I can only see it possible with emeralds, if you trade extreme amounts of paper, books, coal, wool, wheat, and raw meats with Villagers. But even after all that trading, it isn't truly worth it, considering the fact that the Beacon still needs some work done on it. As I've suggested before, the Star needs to be used for other things, like amazing tools, armor, or weapons.

Actually for the biggest size pyramid it's only 164 blocks of whatever material which in all actuality isn't that hard. I currently have around 500 blocks of iron in my singleplayer world that I don't know what to do with. Also, the star being used for amazing tools armor or weapons seems a bit silly due to the fact that with high enchants you can almost break any block at creative mode speed, one shot mobs or not take any damage until your armor breaks.

Its a legitimate way to use gold.

You're obviously mad! Power rails are the only way to use gold! So far I have about 15km of rail systems in my world.

I'm just wondering, but why 1.6?
Anyway, if you're using MCNostalgia, just go through several major updates and load the world each time and then update to the snapshot.

posted a message on Do Bats Need A Drop?
My idea is that bats should drop either a bat wing or a bat eye which will be used to brew a potion of blindness and can also be corrupted (fermented spider eye) to make an invisibility potion.

    Quote from cadika_orade

I like the sound of that idea, but it raises a problem with the fact that blindness potions are brewed with golden carrots and fermented spider eye already.

If a drop were added for bats, I would choose this and eliminate the existing recipe.

Also, you brew invisibility potions with golden carrots and fermented spider eye, not blindness potions which are currently not included in the game.

posted a message on when did this game get nerfed?
I totally agree with the OP, I used MC Nostalgia to go back to the beginning of alpha and I played for a while and I slowly updated all the way to 1.1 now. I found it to be much much harder back then to fight mobs with iron armor then fighting them now with no armor.

posted a message on The Collector: Reborn

I'd advise using only iron or lower tools as you should wait until Beta 1.2 so the diamond pickaxe has 500 more uses. If you want to be really extreme, you could wait until 1.0.0 so you can enchant them for Unbr-III. Sorry to hear about your computer troubles and I hope you have fun with your setup.

PS, complete the stone slab chest before any more updates.

Thanks, I completed the stone slab chest already and currently I'm in 1.2.0_02 of Alpha still. The only downside to this is that I can't completely finish my storage area until the bug comes around that makes chests with stairs or slabs on them work still and the fact that my nether portal keeps making a new one nearby.

posted a message on The Collector: Reborn
So my computer had to be completely wiped without any data being able to be saved so I lost every single Minecraft save and backup I had since I didn't have any on flash drives yet. Anyway, I've decided I'm going to be using MCNostalgia to play 1.1.2_01 Alpha and then slowly update and make a world like that. I think it'll be fun having some areas with biomes and some without. If I ever need to find new land I've decided I'll use the Nether for that. I'll be restarting the collector challenge then. The main problem in this version is that tool durabilities are much less than what they are now.

posted a message on Remember when?
Remember when there were Winter worlds which was right before the nether was implemented? Remember when nether mobs still caught on fire? I'm actually still playing Alpha 1.1.2_01 because I love winter worlds although I plan to eventually update slowly using MCNostalgia.
