This is kinda a rant/discussion on all the bitching about Notch.

What you guys dont realize is Notch DOES listen to his community, and he IS one PROGRAMMER, meaning that he does NOT have some huge game studio like Valve, he is one man, working his ass off to please us because we bought his game.

All in all, making a update as huge as this, is quite frankly amazing if you ask me, he had around a month to make Nether(or whatever its called), Biomes(which hes had big troubles with them before...), fishing, new blocks, purposes for the new blocks, new mobs, he also redid the AI from what ive seen. Fix some SMP bugs.

Now, with me being a programmer, I know that it is almost impossible for the average programmer to do ALL that on a normal schedule, im pretty sure Hell(Nether), gave him hell when it came to creating it, now he said he had some troubles with Biomes before, and he managed to finish those and they seem to work fine and beautifully, for Notch fishing was probably one of the easier things to do,as well as adding new blocks and purposes for them simply because hes done it before, soo he has a grasp on how to make it.

Adding new mobs probably took some work(especially Ghasts), because I haven't really seen you be able to reflect giant fireballs in many games before. I will say, the new AI makes the monsters a lot more intelligent, they tend to serpentine when you shoot arrows at them(Pretty cool if you ask me).

And fixing multiplayer bugs can be a *****, I rarely play SMP soo I dont know whats fixed.

Anyways, im not one of Notches fanboys, however he is one guy, trying to start a business, and you need to factor in that starting a business takes both TIME and MONEY.

Anyways, you guys discuss what you think of Notch. You have my opinion...

Im pretty sure this will end up turning to a giant flame war sooner or later...

*like*... oh wait this is Minecraft Forums. You sir get an internet +1 internet.

The spawn area is simply 1 chunk. I'm pretty sure chunks are 16x16. So just count out 9 (8 uneditable+1editable) and dig down.

(Since the original poster was a troll, I'll just post what I was going to on a different thread)

DNet for SMP will be coming soon. Once server-side invs come out, we will be offering hosting. Since SMP has been shown to use far too many resources to be donation only, we will need to charge for it.

More info to come as I become less lazy.

People would load it with recordings of profanities, but it'd be nice to have a few options depending on what fits your skin the most.

    Yes i realize this buuuuut-
u upload it to the website and u can report baddies?
    just an idea.

Sounds like your future threads are going to consist of your complaining about your best friend that's an op that isn't doing a great job and you want to report him to the community because you think we'll help you admin your server.

    Just saying 'ya know.

Great looking thread and server Kin. You seem to have a solid base of users and a great one at that. I used to run DNet which was a server hosting service, for free to boot :biggrin.gif: but it was too costly to keep going. I've been a long time server admin myself but SMP takes just too much to admin at this time :biggrin.gif: My in-game name is CrazySpai and I like to think that I'm known around the creative server world but I could just have a bloated head XD

My play style is generally conservative and I like building bases in obvious locations yet, having them totally unknown :biggrin.gif: Once PvP is true, I will be a roving bandit but, to a manageable extent. I won't be like "hey guise, I'll build a ladder up your wall and grief everything and call it bandit" More of... "Hmmm... I'm hungry and if I'm not mistaken that castle has a wheat farm"

If you are still inviting people, I'd be interested in getting a nice little PM from you. If not, congrats on your success and good tidings.

    Evening Minecraftians.

I decided to give it a whirl and I've opened up a server. It's nothing big, but I can handle a full server. I might startup my DNet hosting again, depending on how the tests from this server pan out.

posted a message on Remote Desktop
Servers generally don't have a decent graphics card and almost no one updates their drivers for the onboard on servers. Try updating your video card drivers on the server and see if that fixes it. However, you will have horrible lag because of:
    A) You're playing over a remote desktop connection that generally isn't for animations
:cool.gif: You're playing on a server without a decent graphics card (i'm assuming, having a decent GFX in a server is useless)
