Your eyes can't even process more than 60FPS, so why do you need more when you're already double the limit?

This isn't necessarily true; different people can see different refresh rates.

However, Optifine has a vsync feature, which limits the fps to 60, and frankly looks BETTER than a higher framerate on a monitor that can't go above 60 anyway, because it eliminates tearing.

when you install this mod, you gain NONE fps if you won't lower all those settings, am I right?

Not so. Optifine has some improvements beyond simply adding new settings, so even on fancy graphics and all that you should see an improvement vs not having it installed.

C is the zoom key, and it will apply zoom when you press C, even when in chat or a menu. I haven't seen sp614x actually acknowledge the issue, and everyone has been saying to re-bind the key, which isn't a solution. If I have to bind zoom to a button I never use, then whenever I actually want to use zoom, I have to press that awkward button.

    I don't see why sp614x can't actually fix this.

He prolly will fix it when HD_H comes out. Since he added zoom in HD_G, it is no surprise that he hasn't fixed it yet. Although I'm a bit concerned that it hasn't been fixed in the interim AA/AF test versions.

While re-binding isn't exactly a long-term solution, since it really SHOULD be fixed, I've found that Left Control or Tab aren't too far out of the way, and won't generally interfere with chatting.

If I install OptiFineHD_G will my game have better grass because I don't want better grass ?

It adds it to the video options menu. If you want it you can turn it on, but you don't need to.

I occasionally get this when I am looking around, building, or destroying blocks. The cause is optifine.

    Any help?

Don't use the multithreaded version, the regular version doesn't have that issue. He seems to have fixed it in the multithreaded AA/AF test builds, though.

On a related note, I'm seeing an issue with the AA/AF versions when swimming; there seem to be flickering horizontal white lines in and above the water. It mostly seems to happen when I jump in or surface, and they're gone so quick that I had trouble getting a screenshot, but it's definitely there.

    Using Win7 x64 and GTS 250.

How many times do I have to remind almost everyone..

...Press ESCAPE, and then OPTIONS, and then CONTROLS.
CHANGE the ZOOM KEY TO something ELSE OTHER THAN the CHAT KEY.

The problem isn't that people are mapping the same key to multiple functions. The problem is that it doesn't disable itself when the chatbox is active; if you assign it to ANY letter, then you pretty much can't type it without zooming. The only solution is to set it to something that you aren't likely to type, such as \ or Ctrl. Imagine W would still walk while the chatbox was open. It'd be really annoying. This isn't quite as dangerous since zoom doesn't move you, but it's still annoying, and very much a bug.

NOTE: I only tested this on the MT version.

This is probably your problem. The latest MT version has had crazy flickering problems for a lot of people.

If you are using a windows box, you should look into Uniform Server. It's a full WAMP (windows, apache,MySql,php) server which never needs to be installed. simply open the folder and run the .bat file. even uses a powerful in-browser database management system. just RTFM. Used it for years to host websites at home. brilliant. Hope that helps.

I use Uniform server myself for various purposes, can vouch for its high quality. However, I should point out that Overseer only works on Linux (and possibly OS X, but nobody has tested it AFAIK), presumably because it needs shell access, and said features would need entirely rewritten to work on Windows.

How to make so people could use buttons, doors, etc. on protected areas?

If, for example, you want 3 and higher to be able to create/destroy but anybody to use what's there, try this:

    <blocks allowPlace="3+" allowDestroy="3+" allowUse="0+">

The important bit here is allowUse.

Freebuild1 has the same coordinates as W1L1. I'm guessing it's ignoring Freebuild1 because there's already an area there.

Feature request: per-user waypoints for the warp command.

On a large server, the list of waypoints can get really unwieldy, with most of them being places that most of the users will not necessarily want to go to on a regular basis. Additionally, they largely negate the usefulness of the home command's privacy settings, because it's easy enough to create a waypoint in someone's home so that anybody can visit, invited or not, and the home command itself since it's basically just a slightly more customizable waypoint. Also, it's too easy for anybody to delete a waypoint someone else created.

I feel that per-user waypoints would negate most of these issues, make /home more valuable, etc. and would be really grateful if this was added.

Regardless of whether or not this gets implemented, SimpleServer is really a great tool. Thanks for all the hard work that's gone into making it! :biggrin.gif:

Is there a way to fix a chat formatting error? Because when people talk, it does this:
<[owner]Cactus_Master> sample text, sample text oh hai mist
    er, what's up
    dog

I'm pretty sure this only happens when using it with Bukkit. I never had this problem myself until I installed Bukkit earlier today. You could consider not using SimpleServer's msgWrap, and trying the Bukkit plugin TextWrap, though it's far from perfect.

How much control does SimpleServer have over the order in which chunks are loaded/sent to the player? With all these new teleport features such as warp and home, Minecraft's default "outside-in" loading on teleports is that much more obvious and annoying.

Hello. I recently had a computer crash, which ended up corrupting my world a bit. When simple server starts, it says:
"Chunk file at -14,13 is in the wrong location; relocating. <Expected -14,13, got -5,18>"

Does anyone know if the "chunk file at -14,13" is the long/lat of the bad chunk, or is this something else? I went there in the world and everything seemed fine! :smile.gif:

My only problem is that if one specific player now logs on, the server crashes. I guess he is in the bad chunk?

I know this is not really a simple server question, except for the part about interpreting the consol output regarding the bad chunk...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Eric

It can relocate it properly, but there's a chance that it's preventing -5,18 from working properly.

I'm sure there's a way to repair your world, but if you've been using SimpleServer's backup feature (I hope you have, in fact it's the reason I use SimpleServer myself) you can probably restore from the last backup before that crash.

He's talking about the Windows Command Prompt window that open when you run SimpleServer.

And as far as I am aware, this is a bug with the wrapper at this time. Not sure if they are working to fix it.

I'm not using Windows, therefore I can't verify or fix it.

I can't help with fixing it, but I can definitely verify it, at least on Win7 x64.

edit: More specifically, it does not show user input until enter is pressed.
