This is my very first minecraft adventure map. It's an epic kidnaping story about a queen and a palace.

Writing threaded software even for two cores, let alone eight, is not easy. It often involves separating tasks into parts so they can be run individually instead of as a group, requires crazy synchronization, a ton of testing and guesswork to make sure you're dividing tasks up in the most efficient way, and most of all, severely increases the potential for timing and sync-related bugs (world flashing, things happening in the wrong order, etc). It's a pain all around, and a large part of the reason most apps don't take advantage of multi-core processors to nearly the extent they could.

That being said, shadoskil, what processor do you have? Since it seems like you have a pretty dang good computer, I'd be willing to bet you're already getting FPS well above your display's refresh rate (unless your graphics card isn't up to snuff), and using additional cores wouldn't be that much help to you.

Delete the options.txt in your .minecraft folder. It will create a new 1 after you start Minecraft.

This problem's been around for a while. It'd be nice if Optifine could use a separate file for any options that vanilla minecraft doesn't support, so that this wouldn't be necessary.

Why does everyone get so mad at kids that ask "When is it going to be updated"? They know that it's hard to do or they would do it themselves. So just tell me why you have to tell these kids to stop asking.

It's not the ones who are asking that are the problem. It's the ones who are making posts like "hurry up and update" or "If he was really working on it then it would be done by now" that are making people angry. Nobody has raged over the curious or questioning posts, only over the (largely in light blue) posts that are flat-out demanding it.

Problem is, you don't know if hes working on it. He could've just not worked on it all day today. Dont assume either.

I'm not assuming anything. I'm trusting. He updated his original post to say he's working on it. Believing that he's telling the truth isn't an assumption.

But beyond that, as I already said, he has a right to not work on it if he doesn't want to. The self-righteous, impatient, ungrateful, and generally demanding posts from you and others are getting to be quite annoying. It's unproductive, makes you look bad, and is probably discouraging to sp614x.

    Just be patient.

And how do you know he is working on it right now? If he was, then it could have been up already right? But it's not.

This is the stupidest logic I've seen all day. That's like saying "how do you know the dishwasher is on right now? If it was, then it could have been done already right?" No. In-progress and finished are not the same thing. If it was up already, then he'd not be working on it anymore.

Also, I saw that he was online like a couple of minutes ago looking at this thread for a good 20 minutes or so. Instead of working on the mod like he should, he's spending his time reading all these comments on his thread. Might as well give him something to read.

This works differently from forum to forum, but most forums will show you as "active" on the last page you visited for anywhere from five to twenty minutes. If he glanced through the latest posts in this thread, it'd show him as active for longer than he really was. But more importantly, he is allowed to take a break. People have no business complaining that he's not spending every waking moment of his time on something he's giving us that we're not paying for. He doesn't owe anyone anything.

That being said, if he claims to be working on it, then I believe him, and I certainly won't fault him for taking a few minutes break every now and then. This was a bigger update than some, I've heard that there was some serious performance improvements in vanilla, which means that there were probably some fairly major changes to the rendering code that'll take sp614x longer to code for. It's not as simple as flipping a "works with 1.1" switch.

unless the owner the server is smart enough to get a dev build >.>

The dev builds aren't recommended for a reason. They tend to be quite buggy, make playing a somewhat unpleasant experience, and at times they can be either game-breaking or server-destroying (though this is rare, it's not worth the risk). Many server owners are smart enough NOT to get a dev build.

I don't see what the big rush is. I, for one, won't be updating to 1.1 until a Bukkit recommended build for 1.1 is available, and I strongly suggest the same for anybody else who plays on Bukkit-enabled servers.

Personally, I think "Enhanced" would work better than "Advanced", as "Advanced" implies more advanced settings to configure, or that it's for more advanced users, when in fact it's just got a more advanced way of rendering. "Enhanced", on the other hand, feels more like it describes the product rather than the usage.

Otherwise, that's a very well thought out post and you make some good points. Your new names are certainly more readable and more clear what it is.

I'm loving that fences/snow feature. It makes the game look as it really ought.

On a related note, would it be possible to allow bettergrass without snow-sided blocks? With grass, you can safely assume that any block that looks like grass is dirt, but when you do the same with snow it becomes impossible to distinguish a snow block from one that is simply covered in snow.

I think it's pretty amazing how you think this guy is talking about Windows' display settings... since he doesn't have a Windows machine. Also, I would like to note the absurdity in a modder for a game suggesting that you reconfigure your graphics card to use the mod.

Seriously, Optifine MT is making my Buildcraft pipes look like mushrooms. I've heard other errors where people have said it looks like their dirt is on fire. It shouldn't be marked as "cutting edge," it should be marked as "in development, crazy @&%$ might happen."

My apologies, I missed the first post where he mentioned OS X, and was only responding to the one I saw. No need to flip out over it.

That being said, NVIDIA Control Panel is on Windows only. I don't know how to change these settings on OS X, or if it can even be done.

As for the bit about "absurdity in a modder for a game suggesting that you reconfigure your graphics card to use the mod", the reason for this is that the feature itself in the driver is buggy. It is not sp614x's job to correct NVIDIA's mistakes.

Yes, I saw that on the front page. Is it referring to an internal Minecraft control panel in Video Settings or one on my OS, because my OS doesn't include one.

It refers to your graphics card's control panel, NOT Windows' display settings. For nvidia cards, this is simply called "NVIDIA Control Panel". I don't know about Intel or AMD cards.

Yes, but what if you are running some other program (browser, anti-malware, etc)at the same time?

Unless your other program is using 100% of one of your cores, you'll still benefit from using the MT version. Firefox, AVG, etc don't stress the processor nearly that much. Even if it does, the MT version can still work with a single core, you just won't see that performance gain.

A question- What happens if your computer has 2 cores and you are using the multi-core option? is this recommended?

"Multi" means more than one, and two is most certainly more than one. It'll work fine.
