On taming Ocelots (or the lack thereof): can you tell if you are at a mob limit? I got a message about having to many cows, pigs, chickens and afterwards I was not able to feed any fish to the ocelots I tried to catch

Good news! With this new update my seed has quite a few jungles when generated from scratch. I opened up my old world and traveled to one of the jungle locations and right away found some ocelots! Taming them has proven to be a bit of a problem :-)

Unfortunately the location where my home is now swamp land. What was snowy biomes is now jungle but the snow doesnt melt. i can also see on the new seed that an extensive area that was once ocean and plains is now going to be snow... Oh well.

Oh and still no mushroom biome.

posted a message on TU12 Accidental Release?
After its released for certification, the update has to be given an available release window. We've seen it in the past sometimes take one or two days after certification before an update comes out. Apparently in this case the available windows were 'right now' or 'next week'

posted a message on Anyone know how to get texture packs on MCXB360
    Short answer: wait

The first texture pack(s) are going to be part of a mash-up pack where minecraft is made to look like another game. At this point we are waiting for 'legal issues' before we find out about it.

It takes 10 work days for certification plus sometimes one or two days afterwards to get a release 'slot' for a game to be released. It's been less then 9. Do the math. Wait another 36 hours or so and then lose your cool.

99% of seeds will probably be different when generated in the up coming update then they were previously. Their may still be some similarities though.

4j hasn't really shared too much about what is coming next. They said for over a year that they would be updating to 1.2.3 and then be 'going their own way' without being real clear on what that means. They could be adding things that have never been in minecraft before, or being more selective about what changes from later versions of minecraft they are bringing in. 4j has said various things from later versions would be in 'upcoming' updates, so they are still planning on bringing us things that have appeared in PC minecraft.

Personally, I think it's pretty likely that most of the changes from 1.3.x on the PC will probably be in tu14--tu13 will probably be mostly bug fixes, but maybe 1 or 2 features could make it in.

    Cert should be almost done

Only if it now takes less then 10 weekdays...

If past patterns hold true, the earliest I'm expecting it is next Wednesday.

Cert testing isn't about finding bugs. The Xbox ecosystem is a gated environment, meaning that everything has to be approved in order to be released to everybody. Cert testing is about examining all sorts of details about the software to make sure it conforms to certain standards that Microsoft has decided on.

Apparently part of the cert testing are certain rules about how long it takes before a product is 'certified' regardless of how long it actually takes to confirm a product meets the standards. I've seen some rumors that Microsoft might be easing the standards so that certification will be much faster in the future (a couple days maybe?) but nothing confirming they've implemented it yet.

You know, I haven't tried to see if I can get mooshrooms. Certainly haven't seen any. Maybe I should try that out before I move to trying for a cat...

Edit: nope. No mushroom biome when I loaded the seed from scratch in creative.

With older title updates we would have weather shifts, where the weather and climate for an area would be different from the original map because they were based strictly on the current seed number. With the upcoming TU12 my understanding is that climate shifts will no longer occur with future updates because the game will now save the biome of an area and use that to generate the weather.

My question is, does this also apply to the spawning of mobs? I know that many mobs will only spawn in certain Biomes (I.e mooshrooms only occur in mushroom biomes and Ocelots only appear in jungles) and sometimes only on certain blocks (cows, sheep, and pigs only appear on grass). Is it possible for me to go to my pre TU12 world and find ocelots spawning where jungles would be if I restarted the world from scratch?

I'm probably going to finally start a new survival world sometime soon, (I've been using my current one since TU2) but I'd love to get a cat in my old one before I leave it behind.

posted a message on Are there dungeon finder websites?
The most reliable way to find dungeon coordinates is to scour forums for people posting them. This is complicated though by needing to make sure they are actually talking about the same seed AND that they created the map with the same or similar version number. (This is probably the big limitation in creating a dungeon finder program as well.)

I have an old gargamel seed created and explored by TU1 or so and last year I went through a bunch of forum searches trying to find dungeon coordinates and compiled a list of about 70 probable dungeon locations. (Someone posted a pretty reliable list of about 30 of them one time). I didn't do much with the list for a long time, but I recently piloted out all the coordinates on a 'map' which made it much easier to visualize where all the dungeons I had were and where to dig. I've made my way through about a third of the list and a large percentage of them have actually had dungeons there. I've tried adding more to the list, but most coordinates for gargamel stopped a long time ago, mostly because after TU5 or so it was no longer possible to add new searchers for my version of the seed.

It will. The Jungle is right next to the spawn point.

Right next to the spawn point? Then it almost certainly will not. If its within your view distance it is most definitely explored, even if it doesn't show up on a map. My rule of thumb is, anything within about a third of the map size in any direction from where you've been should be considered explored/generated.

Make sure no redstone, buttons, or levers are touching the TNT. They will ignite it when activated.
