    Quote from KEK Inc.

Granted, I think that there are some BS rights that certain people expect, but most of those BS rights negatively affect other people. Legalizing gay marriage is pretty basic, and doesn't harm other people.
Of course it harms other people! If we allow gay marriage then that makes people feel really stupid for being against it all this time when the government finally ends up allowing it everywhere.

    Poor them.

posted a message on Teaching Creationism is Child Abuse
    Quote from Corvo

Not the tiniest bit of open mindedness at all, hence all the insane belittling of religion via 10 million memes and the references to pink unicorns and leprechauns, but I guess that's something you're suppose to expect out of a intellectual debate more so than the near-flame/flame war this thread has become.
I'm gonna leave this here as I address Unyo and Event.

    Quote from Unyobro

So we should be forced to teach fairy tales alongside science or just not teach anything at all? Wow, that a terrible idea. How about the people who want make believe taught in schools go find some evidence besides "my holy book says so". I don't think that's asking too much.
    "Fairy Tales"

Way again to belittle other people's beliefs.

And yea, it's called social science class, assuming that's what they still call it nowadays. Teach them creationism, teach them evolution, teach them the ways of all major religions out there, and let them decide for themselves. It's better to make an informed decision than to make a biased one based off of the one you are most informed in, and teaching multiple things in school would help with that. Just because the end result would be less people falling for your current belief doesn't mean it's the wrong one.

    Quote from CosmicSpore

The problem with this concept is that it sets Creationism (or any other "belief") on the same measure as Evolution, when Evolution really is the most supported theory out there.

Therefore to disagree with the "sole teaching of evolution" is basically to disagree with all science being taught entirely... It is nonsensical.

Evolution has it's place in schools because it is the most supported theory. Until a time comes when it is no longer the most supported theory then this should always remain to be the case..... This is of course if we are to be fair to all theories.

If we are not fair, then we might start teaching things like Creationism as equal or even better theories than evolution. This is not justified nor fair to anyone... but some people do it anyway... Just like some people might beat their children despite it not being justified nor fair.
I feel like you're mistranslating me here. I am putting major emphasis on the word "sole" in "sole teaching of ___." People should be taught more than just evolutionism, for the same reason I gave to Unyo.

While I agree with some of your remarks about this topic being largely biased in both directions... I have to say that your own beliefs are also one of these biases.

If we are to remain unbiased, then evolution should be taught above all other theories unless someone can provide a better theory to replace it, which will likely never happen given the amount of evidence supporting it.

This is the UNBIASED perspective given the prior criteria we have for teaching about "reality". We wish to teach the most supported theories, and ignore the lesser ones (unless all of the various theories are not well supported, then we will sometimes teach many of them). This applies to EVERYTHING that society teaches.

You might as well just go argue that "Gravity does not exist" and 'leprechauns use their magic to make stuff cling to Earth' are all on equal footing to Physics.... This is not practical, not sensible, and not at all meaningful... This is why we teach the most supported theories. To teach anything else might not be 'child abuse', but it is blatantly disregarding visible reality in favor of some alternative imaginary reality.
I feel like I gave a clearer explanation above on my beliefs so I'm wondering if this biasness still applies.

    Quote from Event_Horizon

The problem with your statement here is that:

Evolution is a theory backed by a lot of evidence and observations
Creationism is a belief brought upon by 2000 year old philosophers who were trying to come up with an explanation for how life began and how it formed.
This, right here, is the complte and utter biasness I was referring to in my original post. The:

"Evolution is a theory backed by a lot of evidence and observations"

    part is correct, but the:

"Creationism is a belief brought upon by 2000 year old philosophers who were trying to come up with an explanation for how life began and how it formed."

Is that of you're own opinion which has been shining a bit too much in this thread as fact when it is not. You don't know, neither do I. Nobody alive knows, you just assume, just like the religious assume. If you are implying that you don't assume, then you my good sir a full on hypocrite.

The meme "I don't know, therefore God" has a good place in this kind of argument.
The only reason it would have a place in this argument is because it's religion related, but we are talking about something more specific than just religion as a whole.

    EDIT: That grammar fail O_O

And no it doesn't bother me. It's a forum about a video game that attracts a lot of children, so it's to be expected they aren't the best when it comes to grammar and/or don't care about it.

Honestly, it shouldn't be bothering you so much that you feel the need to make a thread about it. It's not that big of a deal.

Im back from my postin suspention. I hate the new rules against swearing. Atleast allow videos with swearing with a warning. I'm beginning to feel like this forum is a no discussion zone for when you get infraction points.

ANYWAY I think that we should conduct a slight experiment; stop posting for a day and see what happens. Results should be interesting.
Assuming this was directed at the staff and rules because of your suspension, Citric has mentioned numerous times now that the Off Topic section is the minority. He won't care and why would he? There's still plenty of people posting in the sections actually discussing Minecraft.

I mean hell, he made a completely separate forum so that there would be less spam here on the CT. If he wanted a lot of people posting here he probably wouldn't have made that forum

Also good luck getting a large number of OTters to stop posting here.

I'm loosing faith in this forum day by day. People who have no idea what they're doing think that they're right at all steps, its sadding how they discard all info that's correct and go name calling all the ones that do know what they're doing. Almost everything fails eventually.
SC&T? Yea kinda. (Even though that computer building guide is helpful as hell)

The rest of OT? Not so much.
