I think something may break the mod use.
(keep in mind, ive only been viewing the mod, i havent been able to play yet, not until the wednesday release)

Wouldn't vis production in the nether cause totally negate the need to purify an area?
Just throw some purification seals in the overworld, and do all you vis production in the nether?

That way all the taints in one world, and the overworld is purfied.

    Just wonderin

How do you think the Nether got the way it is? ;P

Well, a 1x1 hole is supposed to open up under the obelisk in which you shall fall a 25+ block fall into a chamber. Find the hole under the obelisk.
    Going afk now!

Ah, yeah, got that bit already. Just wasn't understanding how you put it.

if you're doing as I think you are:
    one, not many

this spoiler will just TELL you what I mean:
most likely, you're using the vis crystal ore blocks, don't, you use the single crystal items

You hit the nail on the head! I did get what you meant by the first bit... Face->Keyboard moment :S
    Quote from jp655

Okay, I updated my technic pack to 1.2.3 now and I got thaumcraft 2 too. Will vis crystals only spawn in newly generated chunks, or can they appear in my existing ones too?

They only appear in new chunks. However, it's possible to plant new ones, so you can gather some from a new chunk and populate your old ones... Check the wiki.

I'm not sure if I should be reporting this as a bug, but here goes! I can't get my obelisks to open. I researched the [CENSORED] and constructed them and put them on. I can see the [CENSORED] at the base. I matched all of them with the appropriate [CENSORED]. I got that far all on my own, and nothing happened. At a loss I googled around a bit and found some help, who tells me that I'm doing everything right!

Have I encountered a bug, or am I missing a step? If I'm just missing something, please let me know without giving the secret away so that I can experiment some more!

(Though, I do appreciate a hint or two!)

posted a message on toss-able potions and dispensers
Speed on a creeper? Sounds like fun to me!

I mentioned something like the following elsewhere, but it bears repeating (and upgrading!)

Create a 3x3 room below a zombie/skeleton spawner. Let the spawner drop the mobs into some shallow water (to cushion the impact). Build a piston door or retractable wall and wire it to a BUD switch w/ redstone ore as a trigger (you can use the Silk Touch enchantment to move that around). Also wire the BUD up to a fast clock which triggers a dispenser full of buff splash potions, all aimed at the mobs in the room.

posted a message on Millénaire - NPC village - 16/09/18 : Millénaire 7 open beta
Ugh.. last post got lost in cyberspace. Let's try this again.

I can't find a village. I HAVE found a lone farm with two NPCs. I sold them a butt-ton of cobble and they did nothing with it. I ran for over three hours last night spamming 'v' and found nothing. Am I missing some key bit of knowledge about how to find them, or are they simply not spawning?

    Help?

posted a message on Minecraft... What Happened To You?
Ok, I read your topic. Twice. I took the time to honestly appreciate your point of view. I weighed it as objectively as possible. I understand your position.

    However.

    You fail.

Fact of the matter is; the vast majority of new features from (you mentioned) 1.3 onward are entirely, completely and utterly.... ....Optional!

If you simply don't do the things you don't want to do, the game is effectively a more optimized 1.3.

Had some core tenant of gameplay changed significantly, I could understand all of these whiny posts. "Ugh, I don't like feature X..." "Notch! Change feature Y back NAO!" or worse yet, "Everything from 1.3 is utter crap! (paraphrasing here, obviously)"

So be it! If you don't like an addition, ignore it or just don't use it! If it really bothers you SO much, you DO have the option, as you mentioned, of downgrading.

Also, I suggest you take a moment and consider this: If you have been playing since 1.3, you have already exceeded the gameplay potential and duration of an average FPS you would pay TWICE as much for.

My box head grew up in a hut, with no workbenches, on a sky island. BEFORE LIMITED WATER. 1.3 IS 'new minecraft.'

Getting some odd issues with pistons, and the blocks the pistons are pushing, when crossing chunk borders. Both of the previously stated will flash in and out, and even fail to update completely. They are working, but not displaying correctly.

I know this is a normal issue, however, it's MUCH worse than vanilla MC. I can be standing on one side of a chunk border, and have the pistons on the other side (like 2 blocks away from me) and I can't really see what's actually happening, due to the flickering/glitching.

In some cases, I don't even have to be across a chunk border. It'll happen to pistons right next to me, even in the middle of a chunk.

As an experiment, I created a 3/.5 piston cycler, and I can't even see the pistons/block working.

Not sure if this is an unavoidable side effect of the optimization. If so, it's a small trade for decent FPS.

Why is it that this misconception keeps coming back around? The human brain (and the eye for that matter) don't perceive in terms of 'Frames' at all! There's no on/off! It's an analog system! The brain picks out DETAILS! Things like edges and contrast, NOT entire frames, much less any number at a given time!

Not entirely the most accurate, scientifically or biologically (much less neurologically, we have a lot left to learn there!) but one of the BEST I have read at explaining it to the lay person! : http://www.amdzone.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=126189

P.S. and before you ask; Yes, I DO understand, in detail, this concept. back in high school we had to do a double blind study as an assignment in science class. My team, being made up of my buds and I, and all being pretty geeky, chose this particular subject as ours. The subject fascinated me, and I later went on to do a LOT of independent research, as is my preferred modus operandi. (BTW, it's DAMN hard to set up a DB study around a topic like that!)

It's true, some people can't tell the difference between 60fps and 600. But some people CAN.

I hate to say it, but he's right. People just aren't going to take you seriously without some indication that you aren't just going to use them to make a custom mod for your own enjoyment. You need not actually create a mod, but fleshing out your own mod idea would be very helpful to your cause. Sketch some pictures. Figure out how it's all going to work ahead of time. Try to understand how 'corner cases' would be solved, like what happens if you jump a ramp and your body/head hits an obstruction? What if you jump through water/lava? A well thought out and well planned idea will garner more interest than the simple application form you have there. You really don't need the form anyway! People with an interest will express it, and the rest will come from your conversation with them after that!

A powerful and compelling presentation will work wonders in MANY circumstances!
