this has already been discussed why are there spam and people crying and scared about it if you know dont make a thread i bet everyone knows already.

How about you be a little less condescending to the other users? Punctuation helps also.

Proof that mods are publishing passwords on sites? Besides Notch saying so, because he hasn't given proof either.

As for proof, well I guess you get that when you can no longer access your account. However, the warning posted at http://forums.mcbans.com/index.php/topic,186.0.html should hopefully make some of you a bit more cautious.

I hear that the Archives has secretly added a teleporter that is allowing instant transport to and from the Infiniminer servers. Whether this is in preparation for an invasion is yet to be seen.

posted a message on Yet another worse virus
There is absolutely no browser or operating system that is 100% safe from either a virus or malware. Just as there is no perfect anti-virus that will either prevent or remove one if you do get infected. Don't let anyone tell you different. The only perfect defense is to not surf the internet at all. However there are steps you should be taking that will drastically increase your protection from them.

-Use a good antivirus such as Avast. Keep it updated as often as possible but no less than once a week.
-Use a spyware/malware scanner such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to scan your machine regularly.
-Use a firewall. Either use the built-in Windows Firewall or get another one such as Zone Alarm.
-If you are using a router, make sure you have set a password for it yourself and not left it on the factory default.
-While surfing the web, if you notice your hardrive starting to grind away, quickly open up your Task Manager and take a look at the processes running. Look for something new that you don't recognize. It pays to know what stuff is normal so you can quickly spot problems.

If you think you just got infected and your hard drive is grinding away, quickly pull out your internet cable. If you are quick enough there is a chance you prevented that virus from "calling home".

    Awesome.

But what does it do besides add?

Used properly it will entertain hundreds, build low cost earthquake proof housing in Haiti and if given enough time will completely map out all mammal genomes on the planet.

I don't see how its violent, I mean it just a group of people saying BANG with their hands as guns.

Thats todays extreme politically correct world. 5 year old kids are being arrested and expelled for pointing fingers at their playmates and yelling bang. Any day now you will see a story where some guy on a plane leans over and farts too loudly and gets taken down by 5 passengers and 3 flight attendents for fear of a bomb.

posted a message on MSA virus (not minecraft related)
Just deleting MSA.exe isn't enough. You need to also search for and delete the following files if they are still around:

    msa.exe
    msantivirus.exe
    MSAntivirus.lnk
    UninstallMSAntivirus.lnk
    c:\Program Files\MSA
    c:\Program Files\MSA\MSA.cpl
    c:\Program Files\MSA\MSA.exe
    c:\Program Files\MSA\msa0.dat
    c:\Program Files\MSA\msa1.dat
    c:\WINDOWS\system32\MSA.cpl
    c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\MSAntivirus.lnk

    Also anything like \Program Files\MSX

And if you are careful, go into your registry and remove the following entries:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AntiVirus
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MSA
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “Antivirus”
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “Antivirus”

That should keep it from reinstalling itself. Don't ever respond to a popup that says something like "Your system is infected with blah blah blah" Click here to scan/remove/help/hinder/molest/pillage Your Computer"

Question. Are you seeing anything popup that refers to TDSSserv?

Also, if you like, please run HijackThis! on your computer and post the log here. I have a feeling you have other problems. Lets see if we can fix em.

Played Maplestory when it was still in beta. Got bored with the grinding so created a macro that stood me in a corner chain killing and looting. Got banned about an hour later and never went back.

posted a message on More than the normal normal of block types
If you don't like the skin scheme of a server you log into, just change servers. I mentoned yesterday something about allowing servers to decide on what block skins they wanted to use. I think it would be an awesome way to add a whole new level of customization to a server.

posted a message on More than the normal normal of block types
I do believe I stated in my post that I was reskinning the blocks already there. What I was asking is if anyone knew how to modify the code to recognize those other block slots so I didn't have to reskin them. Some of the things I have made use 4 blocks, such as realisitc double doors. But as it stands now I can only reskin a few things before you run out of useless blocks to use.

posted a message on More than the normal normal of block types
Anyone know how to edit the minecraft.jar to allow more than the normal amount of block types?(single player of course). Now that I'm creating my own block skins, instead of replacing a current block type is there anyway to add my custom block to the list. The terrain.png has plenty of extra room for more blocks, but how do I get the game to recognize when I put something in those blank spots?

    posted a message on Avatar?
I know back in '85 The Dragonlance Novels introduced their versian of floating islands with castles on them. Gulliver's Travels had a floating island called Laputa and that was back in 1726. So the idea has been around a few hundred years. No one can say that this idea was ripped off from Avatar. The thing is, there are actually very few original ideas for movies or scenery now-a-days. Just re-imaginings of things thought up tens and hundreds of years ago. Even James Cameron said he created the whole Idea of Pandora and wrote the script back in '94, but waited 16 years for the technology to reach a point where it would do the script justice.

And don't worry, with amount of money Avatar is raking in, its virtually a certainty a sequel or 2 are in the works.

I know that I myself have mentioned it in at least a dozen posts. Its called a color palatte. However I would have it taken a step further. Instead of just colors, it would open a block editor that would allow you to manually choose the 16x16 pixels on a block face. Doing that would allow for infinite possibilities on what a block looks like. You wouldn't be restricted to just a base color.

This would also increase the memory usage of Minecraft by a considerable amount or slow it down. Either you have each block in a level store a pointer to its face texture, or you have a hash table accessed by block coordinates which stores the pointer to the texture for each face of a block at a given texture (this would probably be ideal since the number of custom textures used would be small). The down-side is now there's an additional check to see if a block has a custom texture assigned to it and, if so, an additional amount of processing required to find its texture.

Also, for a single block, there'd only be about 1.684*10^14796 combinations. That's definitely a lot, but not nearly infinite. Of course, that includes an alpha channel. Without an alpha channel there's only about 1.478*10^11097 combinations.

Maybe so, but It takes me around 7 steps to go into the terrain.png and make a block look like anything I want. Probably 2 mins total, not counting the time it takes to design whatever pattern I choose. I just used it to replace a bunch of cloth blocks with top and bottoms of doors, swords hanging from the wall. So why can't we add a much easier GUI that lets you do this without all those steps? I'm not asking for this as a multiplayer, more single player creation. However why not for multiplayer attach a custom terrain.png that gets loaded when logging into that server?

Make it simple and inside the option window have the added button to use default blocks or custom blocks. Custom blocks only being available if you have created a custom block .png. This way it keeps the game the same for the new users, not complicating it at all, and yet allows the more advanced players additional creation options.
