posted a message on [v3.7] AMIDST - Strongholds, Village, Biome, Etc. Finder. [1.7.4]
Amidst is crashing when I try to launch it. I'm running Windows 8. It finds my profile. When I select it this code pops up. Can someone help me please? I'm trying to find some of the new biomes. I've explored my seed in creative mode, looked over three continents, and they're all the same. I don't have access to jungles, deserts, mesas, savannas, dark oak forests, packed ice (or regular ice). I'm starting to get frustrated. I used this program on an old computer and know it can be a big help. Anyway, here is the code that pops up in the window:

posted a message on Do you think peaceful is cheating?
I normally play... on Normal. (Derp) But lately I've been switching to Peaceful for clean up mode. I made a mob spawner and occasionally (like once every.. I don't know, 10 minutes???) a creeper will instantly land, get angry, and blow up. This will even happen if I'm 5-6 blocks away. I don't know why this is happening! So when that happens I'll switch to peaceful to repair it. I have enough mob drops to get by on for a while so I'm about to replace the hoppers (which I also have to keep replacing) with Obsidian and the bottom few layers of the glass tunnel with obsidian as well so I can just not stress about it anymore, even though it will take away from the design. I suppose I could try to fight off the mobs while doing repairs, but the considerations are that 1) I use the spawner on Hard mode for increased spawns and 2) I'm hanging out at Y=195, so if additional creepers came raining down on me, all could be lost! It does feel a little cheaty to me, even though it's not technically. But I usually try to stay off of peaceful even when building just because I like the added challenge.

Whoah. Nice UFO. I hide crap underground usually.

Thanks! In my last world I did a 5 layer spawner underground just to collect drops, but I never lit up all of the caves. I used to build houses with basement levels as well. Now I'm moving more towards having stuff spread out and being able to see what all you've done. I plan on doing a lot underground though. I think my chest room will probably be underground, or at least lowered into it because I'd like to try to make one of those minecart hopper systems for sorting items into chests. Also instead of traditional meat farms I'm probably going to go for underground farms that elevate items up into a meat shop, for example, and that could be part of my town. It's kind of pointless I guess but the idea of having a town with shops that serve as rooms in a base seems like a neat concept to me. So if I want cooked chicken all I'd have to do is run into the shop, open the chest, grab some and go.

What's up, guys! I'm stoked with the latest build in The Coop-Dizzle Chronicles! Episode 4 - Aliens Attack! I decided the best strategy now that the basics are set up would be to build an XP farm. Although I've found a few cave spider spawners, my experience is that spawner XP farms are really slow unless you have more than one of them. So I decided to build one of the canal style spawners in the sky. But I didn't want a floating XP farm (they look kind of ugly IMO). I want this world to be a cool place to hang out in. So the idea popped in that I could disguise it as a flying saucer! At some point in the future I'm going to build an airplane where the MOBS land so when you look around from the ground, all you see is a UFO attacking an air plane. Anyway, I think i turned out pretty cool! And the work is already paying off with level 30 enchants. I hope you'll give it a watch and let me know what you think of the build and also if you have any suggestions on how I can improve my videos in either the comments on the video or replies to this post. Thanks guys and I hope you enjoy it!

I think you should try to stick to making yourself a classic EXP farm out of a regular spawner like a skeleton or zombie spawner. It's even better if it's a zombie spawner (wait what?) because in the new snapshots, certain villagers will give you emeralds for rotten flesh. But first, make yourself a nice EXP grinder, get an enchanting table set up, get some nicely enchanted tools, and start collecting resources for future projects. You can make tons of cool things like maybe a village to house some villagers in a certain biome. Or maybe a find a mesa biome and make a nether hub tunnel to it. The possibilities are endless of what you can do. Make a nice ocean base, or even a floating base with access by nether portal. You will want to go to the nether to get wither heads so you can get some nice haste II beacons to mine up tons of stone (with silk touch). My best suggestion is to come up with some projects that will take up a bit of time to build, but are fun to build. That's kind of the point of survival in my view.

I agree! The entire "base" is going to be a spread out area that's meant to look like a town. I ended up using the tried and true canal style mob spawner. Other than the occasional creeper blowing up the tunnel down when I get too close, it's working out pretty well and I'm on my way to having some good gear.

My XP farm is an automated chicken farm. I have one set up in all of my outposts which also double as an unlimited food source. It takes up very little space, uses only 5 pieces of redstone, 2 repeaters, a sign, a bucket of water, a hopper, a dispenser, and one switch. Every time I move on to the next outpost the chicken farm is loaded full of chickens. I have yet to finish anything I have started. I have a bunch of random projects in all of my outposts because I get bored easily. Tired of setting up one outpost? I move on to another to tackle something different. What is a haste beacon?

That's a cool idea. Can you get that much XP from chicken? Maybe you just haven't come up with an idea yet that is amazing enough to maintain your attention? I'm sure you will eventually. After a while I felt like I wasn't challenged by small builds anymore, so now I want to work on projects that take longer but will be more fun to look at/hang out in.

    Quote from JHadden123
Xp farm seems like the most logical next step. I just about never make one, but they're handy and practical. You should build some landmarks or scenery around your builds. I always make patchy gravel paths/trails connecting my builds. Maybe make a little water tower or guard tower or something.

Me, too! I built the XP farm 200 blocks in the air, but I didn't just want a floating structure hanging out in my area, so I came up with the idea of building a UFO around it! The grinder is the typical one where they fall 23 blocks, so I made that tunnel to look like a beam being shot down from the UFO. The platform they land on is eventually going to be disguised as an airplane. The nether portal will be inside of the plane so there are no ladders going up, and from a distance all you see is an airplane being attacked by a UFO! I'm not an alien fanatic but I thought it was a cool idea. Here is the video if you want to check it out. You can always skip to the end to see the final product. The inspiration was part Joe Hill's UFO in Hermitcraft 2.0 and part from the large UFOs from Independence Day:

Thanks for all of the input, guys! Making the XP farm was definitely the right call. It takes a while to get level 30 enchants, but it's definitely faster than normal and worth it. I think next I'm going to head to the nether and link up some portals so I can quick travel to the points of interest. It's going to take some time before I make my proper house because I have no ideas for the design yet other than I'd like to try to do something modern looking. And I need a storage area really bad at this point. I have several double chests spread out over three locations! Or maybe an iron golem farm so I can stop worrying about supplies for tools, hoppers etc. That's why this game is awesome though. As one of you mentioned, there are so many possibilities!
    Quote from MazeCraft

LP has to be interesting for viewers. Avoid doing things people do often in their LPs (plain house, regular road, boring melon farm, simple xp grinder).

Do some crazy things with mobs. Like a village of creepers. Make a village of your own design, unusual. Put named creepers in it. Do some interactions with them. Now in the snapshots there is detector rail that ejects mobs out of carts. Use it to make rollercoaster for the creepers.

Build something that will add value to the view of your area: a nice tower, a light tower, a waterfall, a windmill etc. Do some redstone things around your base: an elevator, a brewing station, a boat dispenser, automated lights, note block tunes etc. As the things are quite common in LPs, you have to make them somehow special. Try different designs. As elevators can't be much modified redstonewise, but you can buid a fancy shell around it or disguise it into something else.

That's exactly what I did. I built a UFO around it! That's the first time I've built an aerial craft in MC as well. It took a really long time, but it was fun and definitely worth it to be able to run around and look up and see it looming up there. =^)

posted a message on A Guide To YouTube! [Minecraft LetsPlay's][Tips][Idea's]
Very good guide! I've noticed all of these things in the YouTubers I watch. I'm also curious, besides networking, where are good places to post your new videos? So far I've only posted in the forums. I looked on the MC Reddit and there are requirements if you're going to post videos, namely that you need to contribute outside of those posts. I don't mind that really, it's just that the recording, editing and mostly off camera game play are really time consuming. I read a lot more than I post as well. Point being that in that case, between doing all of that and maintaining my work/family life, I'd rather stick to one community to contribute to (like this one =^) ). I don't think I'll be ready to network as well until I get my LP to a point where I have a lot to show off in the world so I could point someone to a video and say, "Here, check this out." Does that make sense, or should I not be worried about it? For sure I only have time for one survival LP. Anyway, I would love to hear about some of the places you can post about your videos besides the forums, and other tips for promoting your channel. I will try the networking and SMP thing at some point but I'd like to get to a point where I feel really good about my video quality first and have an established SSP world. That might be a bad move, but that's what I'm feeling at the moment.

    What's up guys?

I've been working in a new survival world and also recording it for an LP series. I'm a bit stuck at the moment as to what to do next.

I have several farms set up for wheat, cows, sheep, chickens, sugar cane, trees, pumpkins and melons. I have a starter house next to the farms for when I need to AFK. I also have a good branch mine going and I've been doing tons of mining. When you get to the bottom of the quick drop there is a "rest/storage/enchanting" room. The storage is temporary until I set up a main storage area, but that way I don't have to make trips back to base when I want to keep mining.

I'm a bit stuck on what to do next. On the one hand, I'd like to start on my permanent house, or start on a permanent storage area. But honestly I have no ideas yet on the designs.

The other part of me wants to make an EXP/MOB farm. I'm close to an ocean biome and that could make for a good location (unless there are caves under the water, which is totally possible). This is because, to me, the key to being able to tackle major projects is timely resource gathering, which is mostly based on having some amazing enchantments on your tools. I have a couple of level 30 enchants at this point, but I know I need a good EXP farm to get by on until I can build one in the End.

Or maybe I could go into the Nether and try to get some blaze rods to set up an enchanting station, but personally I don't use potions that much.

It's just strange feeling stuck. I just keep going back to mining or exploring. What would you guys do next?

What's up, guys? I'm excited to share Episode 3 of "The Coop-Dizzle Chronicles", titled, "Pimp My Branch Mine". After last episode I started a branch mine under the mega mountain, and we spend this episode giving it a full makeover to make it look nice and detailed. Now it's fun to walk through and a good place to hang out. It also includes a rest station at the bottom complete with interior design, a storage area and a fully loaded enchanting room. I hope you like it and that it gives you some ideas for your own branch mines!

Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated!

What's up guys? I'm excited to share episode 2 of my Let's Play series, "The Coop-Dizzle Chronicles". It was a tough road due to a failed base attempt, but now I've got several ghetto/noob farms up and running close to where my main base area is set to be. In this episode I cover some basic farm designs and then build a nice little starter house complete with landscaping and interior design! The house is meant to serve as an AFK station where I can stay safe and wait for things to grow, but for just getting started I think it turned out pretty well! I also share a tip for getting the bone meal grass effect when you're starting out and don't have any bone meal. =^)

Please check out the video and let me know what you think! Any feedback on the build, video content, my commentary, editing, audio, etc. is welcome! I had fun working on this episode and I hope you guys enjoy it.

What's up, guys! I'm pleased to introduce my new SSP series titled The Coop-Dizzle Chronicles!

Episode 1 is fairly typical as I share a little bit about myself and how I got into Minecraft whilst punching down trees with my mighty bare hands and scavenging the land for supplies in a race against time to survive the first night.

This is my second attempt at an LP. A few months ago I started one on an old lap top, and the computer crashed as I was recording ep. 3. Which is fine. The video and audio quality were terrible. So I bided my time (tax refund) and invested in a good lap top, a quality mic, and some recording and editing software. The video and audio quality should be pretty good. I'm still getting used to playing the PC version as I'm just an XBox "Pro", and there is some fan noise that I'll be experimenting with in terms of how to reduce that. But please check it out and let me know what you think and how I can improve, whether it's ideas for my set up or simply how I can improve my commentary. After watching countless hours of LPs I'm really excited to be doing one of my own and I look forward to sharing my Minecrafting with you all!

posted a message on Xbox World Freezing when Friend Joins
I'm having very similar problems. In my case, the game also freezes when my friend dies. He was able to enter The End, but now he can't leave. As long as he doesn't try to leave and doesn't die, it's fine, but if he tries to leave it freezes. When he exits the game, it freezes. I'm playing with several others on this world as well, and it only happens with this one friend. However, if we get 4 or more players at once the game freezes fairly quickly. I should be able to host up to 8 players, right? Usually 4 works out okay. It has for a long time. But we've been trying to recruit more friends and now that they're showing up, we basically can't play. Between that and my poor friend who is stuck in The End, I could really use some help with this as well.

posted a message on Iron Foundry
I have a different question about iron farms. A friend and I just started a new world about a week ago. A few days ago we used almost all of our resources (at the time) to build a single spawning cell from the JL farm. Docm said it averages one golem per six minutes. It's not really worth it... unless you can AFK over night. So far I tried this twice and was unsuccessful. The first time was my fault because we ran out of blocks, made a dirt structure to afk in, and when I checked in the morning I had been overrun by mobs. So after collecting some cobble I created a safe structure. Now I can safely AFK, but the XBox controller eventually cuts out, or the screen goes dim (I'm not sure if this causes the game to stop updating or not). I'm pretty sure the game stops updating once the controller turns off, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have tips for AFKing over night? Or are we just out of luck?

Goal: I'd like to play with other gamers who are friendly, and who share a desire to build a world that is creative, looks nice, and is fun. I love working on community farms/projects because they enable everyone to get the resources they need to unleash their creativity on epic builds. Or even simple community projects like pathways. For a long time now I've wanted to game like the guys I watch on YouTube, but the kinds of projects they do are extremely time consuming on your own. An enderman farm in single player, especially on XBox360 where you can't build out, takes a very long time. So I would really love the opportunity to play with a good group of people and see how cool of a world we could make and see what it would be like to game on that level. At one point I hosted a server for several of my students (I'm a band director IRL) but they've all migrated to GTA5, so mostly I've been playing with my 5 year old son.

Mic - I use the Kinect for a mic. If my son is playing with me, it automatically mutes us. If you accept me, please let me know if it would be okay for him to tag along with me. He doesn't grief, and he loves MC... his builds are just really derpy. =^) If not I can play for a couple of hours at night after he's asleep.

I'm glad there are players like you who are willing to host servers like this for us XBox360 players. I hope you'll give me a shot!

    • Minecraft Experience: I started on Pocket Edition in May, then quickly jumped to the 360 Edition. I dabbled in the PC edition and wanted to start a Let's Play, but my computer crashed two episodes in. So now I'm back on the 360. Although I've been playing for less than a year, I've been watching YouTubers almost non-stop the entire time (1-2 hours a day, it's my primary form of entertainment, lol), and get a lot of my inspiration and knowledge from them. After beating the game I hosted a server with some of my students (I'm a band director IRL) but they've all moved on to GTA5, so now I mostly play with my son.
    • What You are Good At: I'm decent at a lot of things, but don't consider myself an expert in anything yet. For example, I can do some basic red stone, but I'm not inventing anything yet. I know enough to trouble shoot. However I've successfully completed several builds by others. I've built a few cool large houses. My aesthetic design skills are improving. Like I said, I'm decent at a lot of things, but an expert in none.
    • Favorite Part of Minecraft: It's just fun. It's challenging, creative and rewarding. And there is no completion. You never stop growing in the game.
    • Why you would be good for the Clan: I like community projects, and I like attending to the details. For example, I don't mind making pathways, or working on the landscape around pathways, because I like being in a world that has some detail and life. I also like working on farms or projects that benefit everyone. I haven't reached a place yet where I can game like the people I watch on YouTube, but I think that's in part because I haven't been able to play with a group of adults yet. Kids are cool, but they're too impatient for big projects, and it's extremely time consuming on my own. Working together with a good team, you could create amazing projects that would enable everyone to have the resources they need to get the materials they need to unleash their full creativity in a survival world. That's what I'd like to be part of.

I didn't know if you were still looking for applicants, but hopefully you'll consider me. I'd be happy to show you around my worlds. I use the Kinect for my mic so I could talk you through what I was going for. Thanks and good luck with your new clan.
