dude, most players go for looks and protection, cobble stone castle sorta buildings and for me, obsidian safe room with a TNT failsafe underneath my fortress >:3
I used the lever to open the door, and it also activates the tnt under my house, once I am in my obsidian saferoom I wait for my house to blow up then I walk back outside . . . thats why I love wood houses, failsafes work so well and the house doesnt look too shabby either :>
glass (if nothing is placed on top) will make a damaging radius around it that will hurt whomever walks into it, darkstone can nullify the damage allowing the player to successfully mine the glass and remove it :>
how about that?
and grey, I will happily make mobs for this thread, it will be an honor ^3^ (you said you want mobs, I will provide mobs, I will >:3 )
didnt you read my post, darkstone ish mineeee >:ooooo
but seriously, if spawned in the nether, I still want it to be able to protect the player from sun damage in the aether :>
also, I mentioned quickbricks in the ether post, only to find somebody bumped a quick stone suggestion from like two months ago >< I thought that was my own idea :/ (oh wells)
you are adding a real RPG feel to the game, however it is sandbox :/
there could be spawned civilizations in the future, but I highly doubt they will have the evolving ability :/
HOWEVER, if you can integrate this with evolving animals, I will not only let you have full credit (that is if this hasn't already been done) but it will seem more minecraftish, since this game is set in medieval times, not from the beginning
kk, Fire has just perfected another route, place 8 grav blocks on the ground, leave a hole in the middle, and place water into the middle then it creates this upwards light portal. Then again, another obsidian-like portal does seem fair, since Lightstone is just as rare as Obsidian in my opinion.
I am now making Darkstone a very useful tool to avoid the over saturated light, it will protect you from the rays and it will be over abundant in the safe zone areas (to such an extent that you have enough to mine but still not enough to over spawn heaps of monsters) and you mine it when you want the ability to place it. Overhanging structures and islands will also protect you from direct sun damage, thus the value of a house increases (the house that features a roof).
Also, maybe spot fires when you place certain materials, like wood, so the trees that naturally spawn in the Aether have to be made from some sort of unburnable wood (this will be like the eternal fire bricks, see, opposites ftw)
Ahhh, I have been working on some mobs for the Aether (Anti Nether) so I will contribute my wise words towards a nether mob:
Headless Zombie Pigman - Three times zombie pigmen in size, attacks when seen hurting other pigmen or when mining in the Nether (this is the exact opposite of my Aether guard, Goliath, originally named God)
Rock Golem: Made out of the Eternal fire bricks, lies on ground and blends in then pops up when player is near and attacks
Lava Golem: Lies in lava, shown to be still lava, so its noticable, it pops up when player is near and it leaves a fire trail
Camouflage Creeper: Visible when moving, it hangs around light but spawns in darker areas
Excellent job (I feel bad now cause I thought you meant GRAVESTONE and then I was like, so you basically revolve the portal around death, then float up to heaven)
Also, new mob idea:
Golden Grove Sprite (super rare spawn) - Fire's grove sprite idea, totally and exactly the same yet its a gold one, still mixes with the other ones, very rare spawn and drops a golden apple when killed (not always however)
This means there will be trees in the Aether, but these trees will be more special, I will think about it after i finished my Graphics assignment @[email protected] have to hand it in tomorrow :<
Awesome idea to create a new thread, I love it and I hope this idea is put in Minecraft eventually.
Can I quickly credit the ideas which I already suggested in the Ether thread? Well, I noticed a few of them being thrown around a bit without them listing names, so these ones I (Connour) suggested (as known, I am competitive about suggesting blocks and mobs, also I haven't found any of these ideas posted before I posted thus I credit them to me):
Darkstone - Creates a dark glow around an area so enemies can spawn, and can be protection against the rays of light from the daytime in the Aether
Floating Bricks - Pushed on one side it will fly in the opposite direction, it flies for an infinite distance but can be stopped by solid blocks, can activate tnt or break non blocks like torches
Cloud - Once stepped on it will evaporate after 3 seconds, does not reform after evaporating
Echo Stone - Amplifies footsteps by 3x, if a player walks on it nearby enemy mobs will be notified of presence, and it can be used to determine whether enemies are close
Lightning Brick - Damages player or mob for 2 heart points + 1 heart point (leather chest plate), 2 (gold chest plate), 3 (diamond chest plate) or 5 (iron chest plate). Mined with a wooden pickaxe (rare block spawn)
Chaos Rune - Lightstone + Darkstone = Chaos rune, when placed it creates a holy area that heals the player, and also damages any enemy mobs which enter the holy area (limitation, one working rune block per map)
Goliath (mob) - Guard mob in the Aether, it will only attacked when it sees the player mining the lands in the Aether or attacking the mobs, it is around three times the size of a human and can crumble through every type of block while it chases the player, his melee does 2 hearts per attack but it is slow and not always accurate.

cough angelic pigmen (mein idea) cough

thheeenn, make wood placed under direct sunlight burnable, this instead of direct sunlight damage
also, glass under sunlight becomes intensely overheated and dangerous, counteracted by darkstone :>
