No, Herobrine was not real. People say hes real so that newer users a fooled into thinking there's some ghastly AI in the game. The reality is there is not, and any video's are simply texture packs, mods or people playing an illegitimate version of Minecraft in offline mode so they can change their name. Notch said Herobrine was removed so people would stop posting annoying claims that he existed. 'Nuff Said.
