posted a message on The hunger bar is pretty much useless, at least in Singleplayer.

The biggest thing the hunger bar added difficulty wise was that it took away the instant healing effect of bread and meats.

It also reduced the pain of jumping from slightly too high up as the half heart of damage you take is healed very easily.

I remember in early versions most of my health was lost jumping around working on buildings and it was annoying to have to have 8 or so inventory slots filled with meat to patch up.

as for the actual difficulty of finding food? It just depends on your spawn.

its still possible to spawn on an island in the middle of a deep ocean and have to rely on a few seeds or a lucky apple to keep going. large biomes and customized worlds can be surprisingly uninhabitable.

all in all I like how hunger works in mine craft. It is a factor, it is something that you can't ignore, but the pacing seems just right so that it doesn't detract from the main focus of the game.

posted a message on I am losing interest, quickly, in Minecraft.

Just take a break, Find a game that is completely different. like league of legends, or smash bros, or dwarf fortress. Nothing we say here could convince you your having fun when your obviously not. At the end of the day minecraft is still just a game. not a way of life.

Except that killing the Wither is 100x harder than killing the Dragon.

Honestly if the only obstacle to collecting a beacon was the Wither I would already have a dozen.

I have spent hours grinding wither skeletons only to get 1 skull. this is with a looting enchantment.

Its not the time itself thats a problem, its the thought that I might NEVER get a lucky drop.

Killing the end dragon has a clear procedure, and every step you take can get you closer to that goal and there is very little luck involved. the most grinding you have to do is for ender pearls and blaze rods. Rods are really quite plentiful and you can buy pearls off of villagers if your desperate. (I was).

The beacon was only there for testing purposes. Searge has already tweeted that he simply didn't have the time to remove them before the snapshot was released (I would link to that tweet, but I haven't figured out how to link to specific tweets yet...)

damn, I hope they stay. currently beacons are practically worthless in singleplayer because by the time you get one you are probably fed up with minecraft.

Having one or two beacons available relatively quickly, and in places a survival mode builder would actually want to go for other resources is much better than requiring mindless grinding of wither skeletons for 8 hours.

posted a message on Most useless item in the game?
    Quote from Addicell»

I think that the most useless thing in the game is emeralds, Because they are so hard to find and the deals with the villagers are useless junk. It is more worth it to go out and farm the material instead of trade for it with emeralds.

I'll disagree there, I have had leatherworkers and smiths offer good trades for echanted gear that I could use, and although emeralds are hard to find its easy to throw your wheat surplus at a farmer and walk away with 8-9 emeralds.

I would have said rotten flesh, but you can trade it for emeralds with a priest.

the actual most useless? probably the different types of stone, Wool and clay is easier to work with for decoration, and it doesn't have any crafting utility that cobble doesn't match.
