Reason: Finding a Tekkit server these days without ridiculous donation items, or too many banned items etc is quite difficult. Want to give you guys a try.
FIlling out 2 apps here. My friend is sleeping right now so I'll do his for him.
Name: Ryan IGN: CoffeeCrazy Age: 25 Why you want to join?: New to Tekkit. After playing MC for probably 2,000+ hours, I feel I need something more now. I want to get advanced and do the things I had only wished of before in vanilla MC. a little about yourslef: I'm jobless and play too much MC. I'm a graphic designer and 3d modeler for games.
Name: Lee IGN: leelucky2 Age: 21 Why you want to join?: To play with Coffee! (Plus the same things I mentioned in mine) a little about yourslef: (He is very good with Tekkit, don't want to put too much here for his sake)
On a side note, we both have and are willing to use Teamspeak/Mumble.
How much experience with Tekkit do you have: Small amount. Looking forward to learning it though.
Age: 25
IGN: CoffeeCrazy
Why join: Been looking for a nice Tekkit server for a few days now. Most have excessive rules/lag or ridiculous donator perks.
(For ease of communication)Do you have skype: Yes, and Steam, and Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Mumble.
(Has always been a problem)Can you play without having extreme lag and other issues: My PC runs MC without issues, and I am on a broadband connection. While creating an underground railway we set off tons of TNT to create it, and while others crashed during it, my PC never thought twice about it. That was probably the most demanding thing MC has ever had to do for me. If that was possible, I'm pretty good.
(People end up showing up once a week...)Can you be online a lot: After putting in probably 2,000+ hours in regular MC, and still play daily, I'm pretty sure I can be around a lot.
On a side note, my friend 'leelucky2' would also like to apply. He's not online now, but he's 21 and we play everything together. I would only play in your server if you allowed him to come. He's very good with Tekkit and I'd need his help along the way. He's 21 years old and has a capable computer and connection as well.
What you plan to do on my server: I'm new to Tekkit, after about 2000+ hours in Bukkit MC, it's time to move on to bigger and better things, so I want to learn Tekkit.
Experience with Tekkit: Not too much, but I want to learn. I won't be a bother though asking questions, I can just look up what I need to know.
CoffeeCrazy. AllSuperGames was just expressing an opinion that he/she didn't want more interior blocks. True it could have been done in a more tasteful manner, but still it was just an opinion just as your post was. How would you feel if everyone face palmed about your post.
This topic is about moving forward with Minecraft, not keeping it the way it is forever. I do value your opinions of liking the game how it is now and no desire to see it improved, but in the context of this thread, is it really helping anything?
My OP was to discuss ideas of bringing life to our interiors. Rather than using outdoor items or other building blocks to create things they weren't designed for. This is great for the imagination, but in the long run I'd expect better. After all, we got beds, why can't we have more? You don't have to agree with any of my ideas, but I honestly can't see why someone would not care to see this improved somehow. As a novice game designer myself, I can see potential, this is where my imagination thrives. I can see something and imagine it improved.
What do you want to do with them? Its fine how it is I think, its not like you actually sit down and read a newspaper in the game while watering your flowers.
These are the type of responses that make me facepalm hard. Did you even read what you wrote and think about it for a moment?
"It's fine how it is". This is why Notch/Jeb make Minecraft and not you, because they can expand the game to make it better, while you think "it's fine how it is". Imagine if Notch and Jeb decided Minecraft was "fine how it is" back in Alpha 1.10.
I honestly am shocked when I see people afraid of expanding Minecraft into something bigger and better. Obviously Minecraft is good right now, but there's nothing wrong with wanting to expand the game and make it more awesome. This doesn't mean I'm saying you have to agree with my ideas. Though we got beds, why can't we get more proper furniture to make our houses look less plain?
EDIT: Obviously bugs need to be fixed first before any of these ideas come to life. Needed to edit this in because some people can't see the future of Minecraft without knowing the bugs are gone.
Ever since the early days of Minecraft, we have used our creativity to populate our rooms with things to make them more interesting. Even without actual items for the interiors, we did our best to simulate them. Here are typical items used in houses that we have no actual items for:
There's probably a load more, but during the AM hours and my awful allergies, I can't think of any more. I've wanted to make this post for a while suggesting new ideas, but never got around to it. While these will obviously be debatable. I will post them anyways. A long time ago I created a thread with the idea of having scuba gear, for the possibility of adding new life to the oceans and places to explore. Being able to hold your breath for much longer periods of time. This idea was shunned by many. I can't remember the reasons why because they were honestly awful. Anyways, the list:
1. Window Shutters (Like doors/traps, the ability to close a piece of wood over a window. Shutters would work best on 2x2 windows. Shutters could also double as a new type of door, and a way to flip lights on/off without using redstone)
2. Rugs (Made with wool, with the same look as wool. Though it places very thinly over a block. Possibility of being more decorative like paintings.)
3. Actual tables. (Combining tables together makes a larger table. This could work in any pattern square or rectangular)
4. Shelves (Similar to the Bukkit mod, being able to place items on shelves that can be seen)
5. Dresser (This one is tricky, but neat. The ability to change your skin from a closet. Unsure of the mechanics behind this, or how many outfits you could choose from, but an idea nonetheless. I could see this one being iffy)
6. Lamps (This was originally supposed to happen, but didn't. Why I ask? Just make it work like a torch, but the ability to turn it on/off. The idea that we're using torches in a house to light it up seems a bit odd. I don't really mind, but more options are better)
7. Chairs/Benches (Yes, ones you can sit in, similar to right clicking a bed, but sitting rather than laying down)
I could probably think of more, but this is fine for now. Remember to open your mind up to the possibilities. While fanboys might not appreciate these ideas because Minecraft is 'fine the way it is', remember that Notch added beds. We used to stick 2 blocks of wool down and that was our bed. Actual items instead of simulated imaginative ones can be better in the long run. These ideas wouldn't stop you from doing it the old fashion way.

How do you check your light level?

I haven't played in about 6 months, so did some patch come out that suddenly made torches useless? Does glowstone work better now at keeping mobs out?
