posted a message on Question about lava and fire spread
I think fire can catch anything within two blocks in all directions from it. Fire spreads pretty slow so I wouldn't think it would burn your whole house down before you could put it out!

Also, TNT next to lava should catch the TNT on fire and it would ignite. Maybe it changed with the new updates?

EDIT: I had a fireplace one time, and I just put my floor as wooden-half blocks since they can't catch on fire.

People don't seem to realize that this game is still being updated, just because its no longer in beta doesn't mean everything is set in place. No one complained about the piston update, now did they? "omg wtf there's only one new thing notch is so stupid". This is still just the beginning of the adventure update, patience is a virtue. I would understand if Notch had released this as the end product of Minecraft, but he didn't. Yes, this game would be **** if it was done, but its not, it's still being developed.

I never said it isn't going to be updated anymore, I am actually quite aware of this. Maybe people did complain about 1.7, but not to the extent they were making polls and petitions to remove or fix current unfinished or poorly implemented features. Also, the adventure update is done 1.0.0 is the finished adventure update. Originally for 1.7, then 1.8, then 1.8+1.9. Which, 1.9 was skipped. I presume because Notch just wanted Minecraft to be 1.0.0 after release. The only reason I am even still paying attention to the developers twitter and this website in general is because I know they will still update it. Otherwise I just wouldn't play.

posted a message on People want a new biome generator?
The problem is the new generator generates very similar terrain every time, unlike pre 1.8 worlds which were usually very unique and pretty to look at too. I like the new biomes, in fact I think it wouldn't hurt to make them even bigger. The old generator was just, in general, a lot better for most people including myself.

    Terrain now is to boring.

I think Minecraft is fun enough without an ending. I find that an ending actually makes the game less fun.

I agree with your point about the terrain generation becoming repetitive, but I am going to have to disagree about everything else.

I like the enchantment system and think it does add a lot of fun to the game, but I would prefer it to be a bit less random.

See the funny thing is I like it to be random, because I like the thought of you get what you get and then you're stuck with it. Honestly I do enjoy enchantment a little bit. It's just for me things like that don't fit into what I see Minecraft as. Again though, thats just my opinion on the subject.

I think the main problem is that they shot with their bow and the arrow landed on the wrong target date. They should have planned the Minecon date after they added enough to the game to make it finished, not the other way around.
When it comes to the end and nether or anything else, they should add more to everything really. I've liked everything they've added so far and the more they add to anything the better(to their standards and logic obviously). It seems they had to pack it together as quickly as they could then leave it to slowly progress after the full release. :tongue.gif:

Exactly, it seems like they shoved as many features as possible into the finished product, whether it was good/finished or not. Basically, they just rushed everything out in time for Minecon which is a real shame.

    Exactly! :biggrin.gif:
Although I honestly don't think I could condense all that into a paragraph, sorry.

    I agree with everything except:
The Nether has plenty in it imo
The end is meant to be a boss room but the dragon does need to be actually difficult
They barely started on the npc AI or villages that was just not a priority
Hunger makes sense, it goes down based on how much energy you use and lots of people like making ranches to accommodate their hunger needs
I think enchantments are fun but they aren't necessary to get through the game really
    ^same goes for potions

See, the NPC statement would make more since if this was a beta update. However this is the release, if they had unfinished features the least they could have done would be to temporarily remove them until they were ready.
Ah, thanks for reminding me about animals! :smile.gif:
Most of this is just opinions though, so there's no point in me arguing with you about how much content the nether or end has.

posted a message on Minecraft, my opinions.
Notice: These are my opinions, if you disagree please calmly state the reason below. This discussion is about the release of Minecraft.

First of all, lets think about Minecraft 1.7, the "Piston Update". Everyone loved it, I don't remember seeing any hate threads about how they hate pistons and want them removed. However this is a different case with potions, enchantments, leveling up, and in general, mainly the "RPG-ish" addons to the game. However this is not my opinion, just a statement.

Ok, so my main gripe is how boring/repetitive the game has become. When I say repetitive, you may think "Oh, well he has just played the game too much" however this is not what I mean by repetitive. I am stating the game itself has became repetitive, for an example the terrain generator. In versions prior to the "Adventure Update", the terrain generator spawned very unique terrain spawning you in various different biomes. Sadly, in these new updates are supposed to make the player want to adventure, hence the "Adventure Update". Think of the new ocean biome, extremely boring and no features at all. Still so many people cling to Notch and say "It'll get better right... right?". I seems as if the adventure aspect in the game was shrunken instead of improved.

What about "The End" you say? I say it was one of the worst ideas ever. It has no worthwhile features at all, what you say? A new block or two? Oh boy! Seriously, the Nether is still lacking of content and they go ahead and create a new realm? WTF, and what happened to the sky realm? I was genuinely looking forward to exploring such a land, but the end? Bleh, I'll just stay in the empty Nether.

Lets take a look at the new biomes for a minute. The new swamp biome, sounds cool right? Well go look at one and tell me if you still like it. The transitions of the swamp biomes are absolutely atrocious. I was looking forward to a foggy, greenish swamp that would be a good addition to my survival worlds. Rather, it was a ugly attraction nearly ruining my Minecraft experience when I am around one. Not to mention the new spawning techniques. Remember spawning in beaches? Everyone like that, I gave sort of a shipwreck survivor feel to it. But, now you spawn in trees and in swamps. Everytime I spawn a world I either spawn around those ugly ever-green trees, or in a black swamp. You can check out a public petition by steelfeathers here: Click here!
Ok, and now my 2nd least favorite biome (bested only by the ocean biome), the mountain biome. Remember pre-1.8 mountains? They could occur in any biome. They might have been more rare and better looking on top of that, but when you found an awesome mountain area, you were amazed. Because, you don't turn around and see shear cliffs like you can now. If you can prove to me that mountain biomes are better than regular generated mountains, you get an free cookie.

The hunger system? Whaaaaaat? I don't know about you guys, but personally I don't get hungry when I run. Minecraft has never been realistic and that's what was so fun about it. I loved how zombies dropped feathers, I actually found it quite amusing and besides that it was a good way to make arrows. Maybe it does give a better reason to kill chickens, but they're so god damn adorable! Ugh... I'll just use my sword.

Nether stuff! Yay, a new update for the starving of features nether! Finally, haha! Oh wait, you can only get potion ingredients from it? That can't be right, something is wrong! Surely the all-knowing Notch would've gave something to us users who don't particularly enjoy potions! Oh wait, he didn't... So, the nether finally gets an update and it sucks? Wow Mojang, just wow. I genuinely thought you were better than that. Seriously, this was just a major FAIL. No matter how much anyone can defend the new Nether stuff, nothing from it provides any actual use for anyone but potion users.

And that reminds me, potions huh? I don't hate potions, they are kinda cool I guess. I don't enjoy them particularly but it's a new feature nonetheless. What it has to do with adventure I have no clue.

Enchantments are just silly. That again, add absolutely NOTHING to the game besides a way to make your pickaxe last longer than average or make you're sword hit harder. I don't hate the feature, but it makes the game 0% more fun.

Aha, almost forgot the joke of an NPC village. OK, so the residents are pigmen right? No? They are friggen NPCs with abnormally sized head and no ai. It's just sad. I realize Mojang is getting an AI coder sometime in december. This is great however this doesn't change the fact that Jeb mentioned he doesn't think he'll change the NPC skin anytime soon.
I am talking about the default texture pack, I know you can change it but I am talking about what comes straight from Mojang. Enemies don't even attack the NPCs, are they buds or something?! Not to mention, the houses they live in are just plain ugly as hell. They add nothing to the game as well. Maybe after they have ai, and you can trade with them i'll plan on not burning down the next NPC village I see.

Tired of typing so far, I might have put things to sarcastic so forgive me on those notes I can't help it :biggrin.gif:
But, I just want your opinion on the last few updates. Do you agree/disagree with me? And why?
I have no intention of starting some type of war on whether the updates are good or bad.

And animal breeding! I personally like the idea, but not so much the implementation. Notch removed animal spawning, you get one set of animals and that's it. Kill them all and well, you're ****ed. (well, there is wheat I guess). That's really all there is to say about animal breeding except for the implementation begin absolutely horrid. Sheep don't even grow wool back! The least he could have done would be to make animals spawn at a slower rate, but just not letting pigs go extinct! And on top of it all, its just plain un-realistic. I know my earlier argument said I liked it to be this way, but c'mon this is just ridiculous!

Now, lets talk about things I actually like from the last few updates.
I really like the new lighting, as so I believe everyone does. How could you hate something so pretty?!
I loved the addition of strongholds, till this day I still haven't found one and I like this. Provides more adventure.
I like enchantment a little bit, but I still don't think it actually adds any adventure to the game.

I just want to know what the majority of the community thinks about the Adventure Update.
